  3. If we buy this, why that non-transparent? Why we do not know anything about how this happened, if there was any legal action etc? I call BS.

  5. Somewhere in this forum there was a thread abot flashing softwares, related to @tdm. Once my friend used his Pro1 for calling, placed it on a table, then the next time he wanted to use it it was off and did not start again. It was replaced by F(x)tec in warranty, but I have tried a few things before sending it back. The phone seemed to be completely dead but under Linux, I could see it is in EDL mode. When I pressed power button for around 10 seconds, it has rebooted, then entered to EDL mode again after a while. So it was constantly on waiting in EDL mode depleting the battery
  6. Okay, thanks for the hint. I'll leave it on the charger overnight and see what happens. Thank you. Stefan
  7. Have you tried to put Pro1 into a charger for several hours even so nothing happens when you connect the cable? Atleast you can try since there is nothing to lose.
  8. For sure, that wouls be too expensive to respond to the needs of clients, that is more profitable to massively sell an expensive basic device that doesn't realy corespond to users needs ... For summary, I think what killed FX tech is the sum of: Young company + Brexit + Covid + production stop of processors + explosion of the costs of shipments
  9. Hello, I have a Pro1 with LineageOS 16. So far the Pro1 has run without any problems. Yesterday it shut down during operation and won't start again. There is also no response from the charger. I have tried the following so far: - long press on the power button (more than 30sec) - all combinations of the volume buttons pressed with the power button - Disconnected the battery, pressed the power button, reconnected the battery, then tried to start again with all key combinations -battery replaced, Unfortunately, I no longer have any idea what el

  11. Hello, the power button of my pro1x, show some signs of near faillure since few days. Is there any trick to correct it,or can i change it? if yes, where can i get spare parts?
  12. To any F(x)tec employee that might stumble upon this post in a few months: please delete my account as well. I created this account to be able to get help with a product that never arrived, and at this point I don't count on it ever arriving, so I'd like my data to get deleted properly before the forum goes down as well. And if due to some miracle, this phone ever arrives, and I still need help with it, I'll create a new account. Thanks.
  13. The lineage keyboard driver is different on the linux level of keycode mapping. I guess that is the reason why it may not work with third party remapping apps. However, this is also not necessary, as the LOS driver (on Pro1, not Pro1-X!) natively provides powerful options for remapping of Fn-combos. But that is not the point: I do not want to remember keys not printed on the keyboard. Therefore the popup selector came in very handy for me. It is (and has always been) true that some apps do not support showing the selector upon long-press. That's the case e.g. for ConnectBot. I g
  14. Is there still nothing comparable to FinQwerty that would work on LineageOS? I dimly remember that while my keyboard demands were mostly satisfied on my QWERTY Pro1 with LOS 18, there were a few apps (most notably Opera, my preferred browser) which never showed the accented character selector box at all; long key presses triggered character repetition instead. On my QWERTY Pro1 X, I had been staying with stock Android, plus a modified version of FinQwerty that gave me everything I needed. I don't quite remember where exactly the problems were located with LineageOS and FinQwert
  15. I did not need to glue it since the keyboard and rail is keeping it on place very good. Like I said, it was tight fit. Probably I will leave to bottom camera hole open since it quite easy way to access the keyboard's power switch if needed. Also you can use flashlight in closed position. But maybe I will use somekind of mass to fill the gaps later on. I just don't know what is suitable material. There is indeed a possibility leave automation out and toggle virtual keyboard on if needed. I just wanted to have virtual keyboard on automatically since some times I might even use it (portra
  16. @FlyingAntero The adapter looks very nice, have you glued it in place? Do you plan to cover the open spaces with something? Regarding software: I feel that Samsung is very restrictive, that's why I used the keymapper for a fixed landscape orientation. You only need it when lying in bed anyways. The virtual keyboard hides automatically when a physical keyboard is connected, you just have to enable the setting in Android as we had to with the Pro1. Your solution with the keyboard layout is more professional though. I decided to use a single hinge for a reason: when typi
  17. I received the USB adapter so my QWERTY phone is pretty much ready. It was quite a tight fit to add the adapter so I had to shave it little bit. You can find picture attached. Regarding software, I made an automation with MacroDroid that changes the virtual keyboard based on orientation. For landscape I am using NoKeyboard app so there is no virtual keyboard at all and Gboard for portrait. It is working very well. You just need to perform easy ADB hack to allow WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS. And the funniest thing is that I ended up using FinQwerty app for the keyboard layout. After te
  18. Lineage-21.0-20240420nightly-pro1-signed.zip on April 5 (2024) security patch, installed smoothly using OTA -> I´ve forgot to install Magisk before, so I´ve to repatch the boot.img again -> Still the bluetooth issue with my smartwatch (will be patched with QPR2, I think)
  19. 21-20240420-NIGHTLY-pro1 installed smoothly via OTA, I've installed Magisk before reboot to make sure it stays rooted. Didn't notice anything new though.
  20. This is my final phone. As mentioned, I've used a fishing line to hold the top part in place. This makes the entire phone much stiffer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUZs2xNawWE Keymapping: Play/Pause = fixed landscape mode Play Next = enable auto rotate Play Previous = toggle flashlight Win (Meta) = ctrl right # = Shift right since I used # key for right shift, we have to find a substitute: Ctrl left + Ö = type text: # Ctrl left + Ä = type text: ' So far, I'm very happy with it and I fully switched from my Pro1 to the self-assembled phone. Slowly
  21. One other thing that complicates manufacturing of a physical keyboard phone: Maintaining different layouts, QWERTY, QWERTZ, AZERTY, etc. Even juggernauts like Samsung don't want this level of complexity, because not enough people want PKB in the first place. *Sigh*
  22. I did notice that the apps that did what you described always showed up with blue buttons and I'm pretty sure the characters are there in very very light grey (I can almost see the light gray when the buttons are a lighter blue, but impossible to read when a darker blue). The ones that pop up correctly do have that Gingerbread look. So, yes, it seems to be a few apps (for me) that are calling up some new theming setting. I tried changing from dark/black background to (ugh!) light background and it made no difference on the theming of the keyboard pop-ups. So far, I only have 3 apps that do i
  23. Thanks for checking in LineageOS 21, which I can't do easily. I type a lot of German and French characters. With my previous Pro1's QWERTZ keyboard, most of those could be entered natively. But both my Pro1-X and my "new" Pro1 are QWERTY, so it is becoming more of a problem now. Apps that have the broken selector: K9-Mail, MaterialFiles, Notally, OSMAnd~, SimpleCalendar Pro, VLC, F-Droid, AuroraStore. (Recently updated) Apps that haven't got the problem (yet?): Firefox, NewPipe, VanillaMusic, QKSMS. I guess it depends on the target SDK specified when building the app, and therefore I
  24. Strange... never noticed this because, in part, I don't use a lot of accented characters, but also, it turns out, testing right now on my Pro1x with Lineage 21, most of the apps I use behave correctly when I hold down the A key. Even Aquamail, which is based on K-9. I did find a couple of apps that do what you describe, but I can't figure out why they are doing it but most don't.
  25. Well I do agree on personal level, I love the keyboard format, and used it all the time. I do not think the Time of keyboard phones is over, I do think the time of customer choice is over. The game changing change apple showed with the first iPhone was not a technical aspect of the phone, it was the marketing. Apple showed, that it is more efficient, to advert the same phone to all the people, than to build the right phone for different people. A development we all know from supermarkets and cars. The illusion of choice. They give you different products, but they are mostly the s
  26. Anyone else noticed that the accented-character selector box, that pops up when long-pressing a key on the hardware keyboard, is garbled in most apps nowadays? One of the last Apps I have that properly supports the feature is QKSMS, where you, e.g., get the following when long-pressing the 'A' key on the hw keyboard: Pretty useful, eh? Sadly, most Apps now display the selector like this: The example is from K9-Mail, but it really happens in most recent Apps that support the ALPHA keyboard features at all. Note that the selector basically works: You can blindly hit
  27. I'm not disagreeing with your main point. You are right. But for someone who doesn't like using their phone in portrait and abhors touch-screen keyboards, there are work-arounds that, if you don't mind a little more scrolling (I don't-- that's one of the trade-offs I'm willing to make) make it not so bad. Here is what Newpipe (I had to download it) looks like with my display settings on my Pro1x: And it gets better if I actually just search... And while I don't want to show you my calendar, I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see an entire month on screen and
  28. Even though I think we actually all agree, let me illustrate my point. This is NewPipe, actually a very nice FLOSS YouTube client (available on F-Droid) : Beautiful, isn't it? Now, let's flip out the Pro1's hardware keyboard, forcing the app into landscape, and look at this tragedy: Literally one third of the screen is occupied by ... a rectangular red bar?! The amount of information displayed on screen is less than 40% of what you see in portrait mode. When browsing through content, you can't do long, efficient strokes with your finger, but have to perform many smal
