  1. Thanks for the feedback. I really don't want to sell it, but I started using a Toughbook phone because I didn't want to take my lovely Pro1 into my dirty workshop every day, and I've got too many projects on the go to keep it as a project phone.

I've just had a rummage, and found the original box, oem pouch, and even the original fxtec stickers, in case that is a deal breaker for anybody :classic_laugh:

  2. I'm not using my Pro1 these days, so it seems I should offer it for sale to anyone who wants to give it a good home.

This is my original QWERTY Pro1. It doesn't have the IMEI label on the back any more, but according to this post it is serial number 1009.

Keyboard, usb, wlan, gps all working fine. The screen has no visible scratches at all, and the rear casing has only a couple of very minor marks. I have never opened the case, the battery is original (holds a good charge) and the usb has not been replaced (and does not need it).

Now the bad news, there is a small amount of screen bleed in the lower corners of the screen :classic_unsure:

At them moment it's running Sailfish, but I can flash stock android  before sale if required. Phone will come with original charger and a custom fitbag pouch. It may also come with original box and accessories. if I can find them.

Phone is in the UK, happy to ship it anywhere the PO will let me at buyers expense. Looking at the adverts above, I'm going to say £500 + shipping as a guide price. I'm sure someone will tell me if I'm way off the mark!

  3. For my problem, it's clearly related to Sailjail so I will dig into that further when I have some time.

Since your issue seems different, I'm not sure where I would look next. I'm a hardware guy, rather than software, so I might try routing the phones internet through a machine running Wireshark so I could understand what it is and isn't doing at the network interface level. Come to think of it, I think wireshark is (or was) available for SFOS so you could do the packet capture on the device itself.

Not sure what I would expect to learn, but for me it's a familiar tool, so I'd just be hoping to spark an idea.

  4. OK, maybe it's not the same problem, wierd coincidence though.

For me, looks like some issue with SailJail. I edited /usr/share/applications/harbour-sailhn.desktop and inserted

    Sandboxing=Disabled

into the [X-Sailjail] section and that now works normally when started from the icon. Not an ideal solution of course.

The same fix didn't work for the browser on the first launch, though it did for subsequent launches.

  5. @DillonM I might have the same issue (original Pro1 SFOS 4.4.0.64). Sometime in the last week, some of my apps cannot connect to the internet via wifi or cellular. Weather seems to be working again, but the browser and hackernews don't connect.

Your post reminded me to investigate further. I notice both work fine when started from the terminal, e.g. sailfish-browser, or harbour-sailhn.

Not sure what's different, but it's a workaround at least.

Hoping this isn't off-topic here or something that's been dealt with already upthread (and apologies if it is!), I wonder if anybody has any experience with these? -

To be fair, I probably should have asked this question before ordering one, in advance of hopefully getting my Pro 1X shortly....!

    Thanks in advance!

I think mine was the original, I had them make it to a custom size when the Pro1 was unknown. It is still in daily use, and still looks as good as new.

Would love a copy of the STL, can you make it publicly available, i.e. GitHub or elsewhere for download ?

Sent you a PM with link for download. Feel free to pass it on if it's useful. You're the only one to ask for it in 5 months, I doubt my server is going to be flattened by download requests 😀

  8. Just to dig up an old thread... I've been working at my desk more than usual for the last few weeks, and I found that I kept losing the Pro1 under the various piles of paper, and that because the back isn't flat, I always have to pick it up to do anything so it doesn't rock around the desktop...

So I drew up a quick desk stand design for the 3D printer. I'm up to about iteration 5 over the last 2 days, and I think this works pretty well.

Happy to send the STL file if anyone else wants to print one. Equally would like to see whatever others have come up with.

  9. I've said on this thread previously that my Pro1 lives in a thin leather fitBAG pouch... But some days, like when I'm in the workshop with lots of grinder dust, or if I'm working on site, I've wished I had a case that offered a little more rugged storage.

By coincidence, this morning I noticed that my HP35s calculator has a very similar footprint to the Pro1, and the battered old HP supplied hardshell zip case is a great fit. The Pro1 is a little loose inside it on it's own (but restrained by the elastic straps or net inside the case), or a snug fit if still inside the fitBAG sleeve.

The HP original case looks identical to this one, except for the HP branding (not the seller I used, but the best photos I found online)

I've found an ebay seller with an aftermarket version of the case, so I've ordered one to see how similar it is. If it isn't good enough, no problem, I've a spare HP35s that doesn't have a case :classic_cool:

Do you experience the rattle while typing? I find that it's very audible and will not allow me to silently type notes during a meeting.

Not really, I only noticed it when tapping the touchscreen with the keyboard open. I spotted that the screen part hadn't reached the landing pad, as you did, but when I investigated further, found it didn't happen every time. It seems to be happening less often no, but maybe I'm kidding myself.

  11. I found the same issue. Not especially annoying, but noticeable.

It does seem that it's not the same each time I open the phone, so it's possible it might get better with use if, for example, the travel distance of the hinge isn't well controlled?

  12. That *is* an issue. The Pro1 seems to need only a very light pressure on the power button. I didn't have the problem with the JollaC, or Xperia.

It doesn't cause much of a problem in SFOS, as after pressing the power button, if you don't swipe the screen it turns off again in a few seconds. So it's only an annoyance.

As for Android - don't know, don't much care :classic_tongue:

As far as my experience the pouch is very well protecting the phone, but sortof tight and fiddly. Now I use one of these instead which is quite a bit easier to insert/remove the phone to and from [WARNING I had the wrong link here first, it is updated now] https://www.amazon.com/fitBAG-Tailored-Germany-Microfibre-Cleaning/dp/B07XJ76Q28/

I had fitbag.de make me a leather pouch back in September when we all thought the Pro1 would arrive soon(tm). So it's been sat in a drawer until last week, but it's nicely made, a good fit for the device, and the microfibre keeps the screen cleaned. As I've used then before for my JollaC, I know it will only get better with time.

Sorry for the poor photo quality, and yes, I did ask to have it made with each side a different colour :classic_biggrin:

(Before anyone asks - the Pro1 is only sticking out of the pouch so you can see whats in it! When fully in place it is about 5mm inside the top of the pouch)
