Man, I remember that phone! Such a unique device in an era full of unique takes on smartphones and messaging phones.
The homogenization of phones in the Post-iPhone Era has been so depressing, and it's why I chose to keep buying BlackBerries, and why I've bought things like the Moto Z Force Edition phones (big mistake as I learned later, they were plagued by battery issues, but had the Keyboard Mod gone to production, that would've been a solution for us Physical Keyboard Lovers) and now the Unihertz Titan, and it's why I'd love to buy a Pro1 X at some point. I'm choosing to give my money to companies that want to still offer more than just an iPhoney or a Galaxy Clone.
I've also just pre-ordered the Unihertz TickTock to be my secondary phone on Verizon Wireless, again because it's unique, and because it's ruggedized! We need to get back to having more CHOICE and more variation in our smartphones again. 😎-

I couldn't afford to wait any longer to replace my aging BlackBerry Mobile Key2 (the battery is swelling up and separating the backplate from the rest of the phone) so I had to order something that would ship right away. I went on Unihertz's Amazon Store and ordered the Unihertz Titan and it was delivered 2 days later! For those of us that can't handle the tiny 3.1-inch screen of a Unihertz Titan Pocket these days, the 4.6" screen of the Titan is better. Closest thing to a BlackBerry that's actually SHIPPING these days. My new phone is already in my hands, and I've even been able to install the BlackBerry Launcher and some of the BB Android Apps! 😂😂
At $350, it was a no-brainer for me. I might still order a Pro1 X eventually, that's assuming they're actually able to get them produced and shipping, naturally. Not gonna lie, though.... after the experiences I had with the BlackBerry PRIV, the curved glass AMOLED screen is a MAJOR CON of this device for me, and a lot of my hesitation to pull the trigger on a Pro1 or Pro1 X came from that. Having dropped a PRIV on concrete and had that "Gorilla Glass" curved screen shatter, I no longer trust their durability claims one bit. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding. 😝-

Half a year ago (Feb. 2.) I ordered some full body P20 Pro cases that despite the Corona mess arrived Friday!!
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254225379991?var=553618778779The bottom half is of no use to us, but the top half fits the screen half of the Pro1 almost PERFECTLY, so can be used with any of the usual cases on the lower half.
The combo is not a perfect fit, as it does not close completely, but gives a VERY good protection, and SUPER easy to open, at the cost of the edge-usage as some disables anyway....Simply lifting in the top half opens the device by pure gravity.
Or held in the bottom half, only a slight push is enough to open it, and the material dampens the sound
I think this is the way I'll probably go, for the screen protection. How did it end up working for using the touchscreen? 🤔

Still my fave.
Been using the same one since February. I have 2 spares that are still sealed. If you don't like the designs, maybe you can skin it.

I know this might be a tall order, but since that auction is long gone, can you post a link to a current one? This case is one I want to consider for the Pro1-X that I'm planning to buy, but I don't know what search term(s) to use to find this case. 🤔

Im not sure where you are writing from, so the prices may not be the same for you. That being said, for me, the Pro1x (256/8 GB) is listed on the website at €741 and on Indiegogo at $719.
When "investing" or backing on indiegogo, there was a shipping cost added (I think $40, if Im not mistaken), in total $759. This equals a total cost of about €667 when getting the device from Indiegogo, and, since the shipping is included from the website, the effective price difference is 667/741, which equals about 10%. Not sure where they pulled the 20% figure from, but as you can see, its not very accurate.
No way I would, given the choice, take the 10% off (about €74) and in exchange, lose litterally all of my customer rights. The choice, ofcourse, is yours, but my sincere tip would be: "for the love of god, order from the website", as this will let you cancel and refund your order, should you change your mind, and it will give you the rights to a refund should fxtec turn out to be unable to supply the device in the end. A little extra peace of mind. Alternatively, if you want to save money, take your chances and wait until atleast the devices start shipping from the indiegogo campaign before backing there.
*Note that these are pure currency conversion numbers that do not take into consideration any exchange fees imposed by your bank or card issuer.
I'm in the United States. On the website, the Pro1 X is $899 with 256GB/8GB, but on IndieGoGo, it's 20% off of that number:

As for the Astro Slide 5G, on the website, it's $988, but on IndieGoGo, it's 30% off:
http://i.imgur.com/PEy7DRU.pngAlso, Planet Computers has got F(x)tec beaten when it comes to offering accessories for the phone. The Pro1 X has screen protectors of some sort available, but the Astro Slide 5G actually has a protective CASE available...

...as well as an Active Stylus!

So, at least in this regard, F(x)tec ends up looking like they're slacking off! 😜
In regards to the risks of IndieGoGo vs. normal ordering, I will only speak for how it is here in the United States of America, and nowhere else in the world. But here in the US, MOST credit card companies offer their customers Buyer Protection, and they have for years. If and when a person that pre-ordered through IndieGoGo, paying with a major credit card, does not receive their phone, and gets nowhere with their refund request, the credit card company will tell them they have the right to dispute the charge, and that they should. The Card Issuer will then reach out to the Seller for a reply from them before deciding what to do, but after about 33 years in retail, I can tell you that the Credit Card Issuer will side with the customer 99% of the time and give them their money back, even if the Seller submits legally-binding sales contracts signed by the customer that state that there are No Refunds!
So MY advice when you want something that's offered on either KickStarter or IndieGoGo is to ALWAYS pay with a major credit card that offers good Buyer Protection Policies, just in case. 😉👍
P.S. Why can't I get my images to actually show-up embedded in my post? What are you guys doing that I'm not?!?!?🤔 -

Just to say, the pro1 does not tip over either.
If you haven't ordered anything yet, I would actually recommend to wait.
Don't get me wrong, I love my pro1. Just this morning I thought about how I become really slow on the touchscreen and really fast on the keyboard.
But the communication isn't the best at the moment at fxtec, no idea about astro.Since both phones should start shipping in the next couple of weeks, I would simply wait until devices are actually sent out and decide then.
I understand and appreciate your recommendation. However, I did happen to discover last night that BOTH companies appear to still be taking Late Pledges on the IndieGoGo campaigns for the 2 phones, with discounts that are not insignificant given the cost of the phones. I believe the Pro1X is getting a 20% discount, and the Astro Slide 5G is still being offered with an even larger discount than that. Those discounts put the cost of both much closer to the cost of the BlackBerry Key2 I'm using now, and which one of these 2 phones will replace. I can't ignore those discounts. Why pay Full Retail MSRP if you don't have to? 😉

The better comparison now would be the Pro1/Pro1X compared to the Astro Slide 5G: https://store.planetcom.co.uk/products/astro-slide
At a quick glance, the Astro Slide 5G shakes down like this...
PROS:
--5G compatibility, which F(x)tec still isn't implementing. That's a level of futureproofing we all need.
--2 USB-C ports!
--A FLAT screen (curved-edge screens are more fragile, and much more likely to shatter if the phone is dropped.)
--Dual-SIMs & a MicroSD Card all fit in in the SIM tray simultaneously!
--Properly weighted so it doesn't tip over when you set it down with the screen open.
--A programmable smart key on the side with some cool options (I don't remember the Pro1 and/or Pro1X having a smart key.)
CONS:
--The Price (nearly $1,000 US)
--Some people won't like the weight and the thickness.
--No protective cases (at least solutions have been found for the Pro1 and Pro1X.)
--Same supply chain issues that have delayed the Pro1X, but it should ship by March 2022.
--Keyboard even larger than the Pro1/Pro1X keyboard, which already seems too large for comfortable thumb typing if you're used to BlackBerry devices.
--Colors may be TOO vibrant on the AMOLED screen, to where they look too unnatural.*
--For a 48 megapixel camera, it takes lousy photos, especially if you care about color accuracy.*
So, I'm still unsure which one to order. The price is definitely better with the Pro1X, especially if ordered through the IndieGoGo Campaign. 🤔
*These factors are based on a pre-release prototype unit from 2021, so they could be improved before production units ship. -

Pro 1 is no longer being made and there is no old stock.
Lame. 😒

So, the question now is, must we pre-order the Pro1 X? Can't we just order the original Pro1 that they already made? 🤔

Hey there. After buying a used phone, I got three additional cases/pouches made from @Jordi but as a hardcore writer I sadly have no use for it.
I'll give them away for free (you just pay the office fees) since they would just be laying around here.
There are three cases which I'll attach pictures below. On the bottom right you'll see which number we're talking about.
1: magnetic flip case (an incredible piece of engineering!)
2: 'purse' pouch (landscape)
3: regular pouch (portrait)
If you're interested, please write what case you want and message me then.
I'm located in Germany.Hi, I just joined the forums today because I'm finally ready to order a Pro1 X, having given up on the idea that Onward Mobility will actually release their planned 5G BlackBerry. That's looking like vaporware at this point.
Who do I contact to have that first case made for my Pro1 X in basic black? That's looking like a good way to go.

T-Mobile for my Titan, and Verizon Wireless for my TickTock. It is not recommended to use these phones on AT&T Wireless, or MVNOs on their network, because with the 3G shutdown that's underway, they've also begun banning all phone IMEIs that aren't on their approved "Whitelist", and that includes Unihertz's devices. So Unihertz device users are finding that they're unable to use their phones on the Death Star Network as of this month. I suspect the same thing would happen if one tried to use a Pro1-X on the Galactic Empire's Network.
