hey have you seen that in the Beta folder there is a 2.1.7 build put there on June 15th?

I tested this 2.1.7 and the connectivity problems seem to be the same, I am going back to testing LineageOS for now and later I will be also testing DivestOS

I know the radios are weak but I just experienced that LineageOS definitely has less calling&audio problems than stock Android

  4. This is a placeholder for info that I will put about DivestOS which is based on LineageOS.

    The goal of the OS:

    • DivestOS takes LineageOS and hardens security and throws away a lot of propriatary stuff & blobs to enhance both security and privacy.
    • IMPORTANT: Please read what is dropped by design before choosing to use this OS:
    • To ask questions and get help see community (mainly XMPP chat, also available via Matrix bridge)
    • To file problem reports see bug_reporting

    Current status for pro1:

    • Unknown: Build exists but untested
    • Detailed description with links: XDA thread for DivestOS on Pro1 (that thread is mostly informational, for main communication see community link above)

    Current status for pro1x:

    • Most things or everything should work,
      • except the ones reported here: divestos.org/pages/broken#pro1x
      • and except the ones that are disabled intentionally by DivestOS because of legitimate concerns regarding propriatary, security, privacy (e.g. wifi calling, etc)
    • Detailed description with links: XDA thread for DivestOS on Pro1X (that thread is mostly informational, for main communication see community link above)

(...) The problem is that fingerprint scanner generates error immediately when I try to add a finger, and GPS doesn't seem to work. Another problem is that I cannot connect USB debugging (for adb logcat) because the phone is in a reconnecting USB loop (not the cable, rebooted PC, etc - on stock OS it worked, now it doesn't) (...)

Small update and good news!: fortunately it doesn't seem to be /persist related, because I reinstalled LineageOS 20, stock Android 2.1.12, 2.1.15 and 2.1.17 beta, and there everything works, except LineageOS 20 latest build (20230622?) where there are errors with fingerprint. DivestOS is based on LineageOS, and it was also latest build.

So this just seems to be LineageOS-related and my sensors keep working. That's why I reported this on the official XDA forum thread for Pro1x LineageOS, so if anyone is interested you can follow it there:

    https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/official-lineageos-20-for-pro1-x.4543997/page-7#post-88687101

The USB problem was only on DivestOS, so I will get back to this later, and anyway it is not important in this thread.

    2. Then, flash the GMS-less recovery.img by doing:

    adb reboot bootloader

    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

hey in step 2. you shold also add:
    fastboot flash boot boot.img

at least with a comment, that this is needed to restore stock OS after using some other android like LineageOS :)

  7. Hello all, on my Pro1x I installed DivestOS (which is based on LineageOS - well it takes Lineage and drops a bunch of blobs and adds security patches).  The problem is that fingerprint scanner generates error immediately when I try to add a finger, and GPS doesn't seem to work. Another problem is that I cannot connect USB debugging (for adb logcat) because the phone is in a reconnecting USB loop (not the cable, rebooted PC, etc - on stock OS it worked, now it doesn't)

    Status

    • I didn't backup /persist because I thought it is not Ubuntu Touch nor Sailfish but LineageOS based Android.
    • In DivestOS install procedure in fastboot I swap AVB keys (fastboot erase avb_custom_key; fastboot flash avb_custom_key avb_pkmd-pro1x.bin) that I downloaded for Pro1x. Then I flashed their recovery image and rebooted into that recovery.
    • But then accidentally rebooted back to stock OS it started and didn't complain. Then again to fastboot and chose recovery > then sideloaded the OS. Other things seem to work.

    Steps:

    • I will contact the developer of DivestOS, but I wanted to first ask here if anyone had issues with fingerprint scanner or GPS or USB debugging, because I want to eliminate possibilities, and I am wondering if this is related to that /persist-parition-sensor-stuff
    • I am thinking about reinstalling stock Android and/or LineageOS and/or DivestOS... But if it is this /persist stuff then I wonder if that might get things worse...

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    Idea:
Sit down in a sofa or on a bed (so dropping is not an issue). Hold it in one hand and try to follow the movement with the thumb, while the other hand lifts the display up by the back edge. Then your thumb can 'feel' the movement, repeat several times, and try with both hands

That was actually a great idea, now I got the movement! Thanks:)

Thank you all, it was all very helpful! And now finally I am glad to have a working keyboard:) So I will proceed to the rest in the following days:)

  9. Oh.. thank you for this extra explanation and your animation is awesome - thanks to that now I think I understand what is going on:

Then it seems that everything is OK. Keeping the force pushed down will not go into opening, and I checked your concept that if after that I change direction to horizontal it will continue opening.

But it should mean that for you also if you only keep pushing down on your Pro1x you will have the same effect - you would lock the thing right after around 2 mm, like from 0:47 on my video. Could you please confirm that? (no video or drawings expected;) )

The problem is the direction of the push, you need to push down a little bit, and then follow the screen edge up in a curve.
I tried to describe it exaggerated here (the whole thing is just a few mm):

Exactly as I wrote - when I first push down a bit (so that I can easier apply the pushing force) then it locks and will not open. Or in best case (if it is more horizontal force than pushing down) then it almost locks, i.e. resists a lot, and I need to strongly push it through.

The only way to open my Pro1x is to push completely horizontally:

Nothing in your video looks like a problem.  I don't think you have a defective Pro1x. But until you get used to it, it seems hard to do.  I struggled for a week when I got my Pro1 back in 2019.  Lol.

But do you have the same effect as described above on EskeRahn's and my drawings? EskeRahn tells me to push down first (it is logical to have better force, as already described), but for my Pro1x it is the worst you can do, because you will lock it.

You can also see this on the video from 0:29 being locked for couple of seconds - i.e. as long as I push it. The same from 0:47 where especially there you can even hear a different click - it has locked as stubborn.

So @Hookare you saying that you have exact same effect on your phone? Your reply will very be helpful, much appreciated, because I need to know if I should return that phone and buy another used one, because I decided for Pro1x in order to have 100% properly working keyboard hinge. Thank you!

  11. I saw many of these early entries, movies etc, but still I wasn't 100% sure if it is different or not. So you say it is wrong? Then I might just return this and buy another one....

In general it requires some of force to open, especially if I try to use one hand. Well it's not extra super hard, but definitely seems a bit harder than what I would image. I am not sure if this aspect is wrong too...

P20 Pro bumpers can still be bought off Ebay and Ali 😉 .

Thanks guys, your posts helped me alot. I bought P20 Pro bumpers from my country and screen protector (foil film) from Germany, later I will provide more info.

But now as my "used Pro1x" just arrived, I have a question in topic of buying used Pro1x phones: sometimes the opening hinge locks and won't open, and I'm not sure if all Pro1x have it or if my is damaged.

Could you please have a look? I described it here at the end of a separate thread:

  13. Hi please help me find out if the Pro1x (which I bought as used one) is OK or is damaged:

It looks very fresh and new, but the way it opens bothers me - because if I apply more force a little bit from downwards, then the hinge totally locks afte around 2 milimeters and will not go further - it will not open. The only way is to push 100% horizontally - the same plane as the screen. Then it opens OK. But if I push also a bit downward, then it locks. So I find it very hard to open by one hand, because I cannot push at all downward with my thumb.

So the question is: Do all units of this model have this behaviour, or is it just mine?

Here is a video I just made when I show it:

Pro1x 8GB 256GB Engraved Edition (www.SummerJam.de). With two used Pro20  (with my Pro1's) bumpers and a brand new (modified) Snakehive leather skin. (...)

Would you please be so kind and provide any pointers where I can try to find/buy such bumpers? I don't what "Pro20" is... Are they just for some phone model that has similar dimensions as pro1(x)? Or perhaps do you have a link to where you bought them?

Do they fit well and tight enough? Can they be used at the same time as the leather skin,

I would like to buy for my Pro1x some kind of a bumper or case or something that would protect the phone from side and back in case or dropping to the floor, so that I fan carry it in a holster mounted on some belt. Of course I will buy a screen protector to protect from the front.

     Thanks!
