  1. Hello everyone,

As times are very tough in the US right now, I requested a refund on March 17th, 2023 for the Pro 1X that I purchased from the website and not Indiegogo.

There have been several back and forth emails with Francisco at Fxtec requesting exact information because my order number and link to the purchase on their website was not enough for them.

I have now sent screenshots of my order on their website and am sadly considering going to the Better Business Bureau as well as HM Courts and Tribunals Service. I bought the Pro 1x in good faith and am not seeing that in return from Fxtec.

I am truly sorry to have to alert everyone as this is never my go-to action, but I am finding I have no choice.

The strange thing is that we have no idea of the pace the orders are fulfilled. I got a pending IGG order as well - one of the super early birds actually....

I feel like hook here that it is "money spent".

Depending on where you are residing, you might be hit by some severe network issues, that we still hope they can (at the least partly) remedy by software updates. So (for the affected regions) getting it does not make it a usable daily driver currently.

Thanks! I am in the US, in Florida. Is that where the issues are? The US? I know Volla had issues in the US.

Not asking for a refund here (well, I backed via IGG, so not eligible for refund, but I would continue to wait even if I could).  I believe I will get my Pro1x (actually, I will end up with two), just no idea when. I am lucky enough to have my Pro 1.

If I don't, it's money I spent 2 years ago. It's been "written off" already.

Thanks Hook. I ordered last April, almost a year now - so it looks like I will have a very long way to go...

  4. Hello everyone,

I haven't been here for a while and now that I have read the last few pages, I am thoroughly disappointed. I ordered from the website and the last time I contacted them, they said mine would ship after the backer orders were fulfilled.

So where do we stand? Has everyone asked for a refund or are there still a few that are waiting? As a website order, I should be able to get a refund, albeit a slow one.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

Not highly precise measurement but a usual key of Pro1(X) is around 5x8mm as per my measurement.
Top row is about 4mm in height.

...but I suggest you to try a similar keyboard in real life instead, as keys are much smaller than your thumb but still you can feel them accurately.
Also, Nokia N900 had similar keys (a bit smaller size) which was still a good keyboard.

So it is not easy to decide if it is too small prior of trying.

Also, a bigger problem may be the phone (thus, keyboard) width [landscape] which may lead to some inconvenience if you have small hands (smaller than usual).

Thanks so much for your response! That actually gives me a very good idea. I just bought a Unihertz Titan and it is a breeze to type on for me and it's keys are approx 7 wide by 6 high...depending on the key. I have medium sized hands so my fingers' are crossed on the width of the phone. I think I will be just find with it, but you are right - not until I get it in my hands, will I really know. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply.  Bizarre: I never got that update (having checking Inbox, Spam and even Deleted Items!) - so thanks for providing the link.

That however is really bad news.  I must say, the absence of an explanation for the further delay is not clever, and now I gather that not even all of the Batch 1 phones have been despatched, let alone Batch 2!

As I say, I wish I could cancel - certainly I've got my fingers burnt here.

Postscript: I have now written to Fxtec themselves directly and will share any relevant information I get.

Let us know for sure - I emailed them as soon as we found out and I haven't heard a word.

  7. Hi everyone,

Still waiting for mine but in the meantime, may I ask, anyone that has received their Pro1X, would you please measure the height and width in mm  of a key on the keyboard for me please. I want to get a good idea of whether or not I will like typing on it. If it is too small, I will probably just sell it.

    Thanks so much!

The principal difference keyboardwise (apart from the opening system) is that Pro1 got more but minor keys.

So I expect what is the best for a specific person depends on if they need A-Z (almost) only, or have fingers that struggle with small keys, if so the larger keys are likely to be a plus. If you on the other hand want national letters and other keys in their standard positions the Pro1 is likely to be a better choice.

Great point- I need to compare them. Going to do that now...Thanks

Hahaha  There have been only 2 left for probably a year or more.  If you check, you'll see there are still "only 2 left" after your purchase.  😂

But great you are getting one. Congratulations.

Actually, they must have updated things - there were 3 left before I bought it and 2 left after I bought it. I checked. Maybe it is a different run? I see they started shipping already. I think only Germany and Korea are left and scheduled for next week, I believe. I like the mechanical keys and it is just a tad bigger than the Pro 1x - just under 3/4". I also like that the screen slides completely away from the keyboard. Of course, can't really tell which one I will like better until I get them both in my hands.

Is the front screen still so narrow or do they have a newer model already?

Yep. That is exactly why I stopped buying Samsung. They became tall and skinny which totally threw off the balance of the phone when typing. Then there was all that bloat and programs you can't delete (Google). So here I am, awaiting my freedom from all that.

Indeed they are small. But also remember the global issues like the Covid and the ship shortage that has affected huge players also. Even huge companies like Apple and VolksWagen struggle to get the parts they need.... And add to that, that FxTec was swindled shortly after the Pro1X campaign start, so they had to totally redesign for another chipset. So the whole thing is a crazy story indeed.

Interesting. I had no idea that they were swindled! But very good points. Well said.

So why do you find it crazy that they have not updated after one week ?

ADD: Guessing here, I assume that they await some signing key with the official approval, as this would prevent them from flashing signed images before they get the key. Could also be a pure legal thing that they got the key, but are not allowed to flash using it before they get the paperworks on it.

Crazy because this is all new to me. I don't have experience with companies that have alI these delays. Well... lol... I take that back.. I think I waited 1 year? 2 years for Upward Mobility to put out a new Blackberry? Guess it is a small company thing?

I guess some have developed such passion in ranting about F(x)tec that they will feel empty and disappointed when they receive the phone after all ... 😉

Hahaha! I an not ranting... But people have mentioned that they have been waiting a long time. I am late to this as I came in about two months after the February release date so I am not stressed about it just saddened that it has been pushed back a few times since I ordered.

I think they more or less will process the orders, in the same order they were made. If the produced layout batches allow it. I have no idea if they can save some shipping or custom handling fees in 'bundling' orders with close by destinations, if so that could potentially affect the order slightly.
But this is all guessing as is the time it will take to produce all needed to fulfil pending orders, as we know neither the size of the backlog nor the production rate.

Yep. Thanks for the response. And the concept of bundling is one I hadn't thought of. I wonder how many of us are in the US. I suppose all of our questions will be answered shortly if they stick to end of the month shipping.

There is likely to be quite a backlog before any device ordered today can be delivered, so not unexpected really. But good that it has been updated from the old estimate that was there before.

Thanks. I hope that I am not put at the bottom of the list because I ordered off the website. But I am excited to see who gets the first shipping notice as that will be the sign that things are underway.
