Burkhard 6
Hello @KasperT I’ve tried a few things—I even contacted the seller, but they don't ship to Germany. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone abroad, either. If you could buy it for me and send it my way, I’d really appreciate it. I’ll send you a direct message. jsreed5 46
Apologies for not checking this thread more regularly! I can still flash screens for the Pro1 X.
DADA 0 Posted yesterday at 08:13 PM Share Posted yesterday at 08:13 PM Hello @EskeRahn and @jsreed5 My narrative is that my Fxtec Pro1 phone died on me a few months ago whilst on holiday. I tried the trick with the rubber bands, however although the phone does take charge the screen is black. The mobile phone shop says the screen needs replacing. As you can appreciate after awaiting like 2 years for phone, I am reluctant to buy a new device and actually like device quite a bit. I have used the useful link https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005380679658.html to order a replacement screen and it should come to the UK by the end of the month. It was a useful find as the local repair shop were suggesting circa $150 to replace screen. My worry is once the screen comes how easy it will be to replace, as now Fxtec have shut up shop. The thread suggests that a reflashing of firmware etc. is needed. I had previously loaded GApps and Lineage OS using ADB sideload. Once screen is received is there a recommended shop to go to in London to install it or is there a video to fall where we can do with own mobile phone repair tools. Also, is it clear whether flashing is required after? Thank you and sorry for the basic questions.
EskeRahn 5,604
Sad about the display. The rubberband-trick is for the Pro1X not the Pro1. If you got a Pro1X things is a bit more complex getting the full touch area of the display. The only way to initialize it properly is attaching it to a Pro1 (not Pro1X) first, and do a reflash of that (there should be a lengthy step by step guide if you follow the links in the first pinned post in here). The reinitialisation of a Pro1 includes a step that setup the display correctly, and sadly no one has found a way to isolate this code so it can run on a Pro1X... If I remember correcly @jsreed5 offered/offers this as a service, other might do also, I have no idea of the charge, nor where they are located. . . AFAIK the problem without this patch is that the edge ignores touch, and that could be a big issue for operating some programs.
