  1. For anyone in Australia using 3G and worried about the impending shutdown of Telstra's 3G network, I finally figured out how to enable VoLTE. I am with Aldi Mobile (Telstra) and have been using the "GSM/WCDMA preferred" up until today (and have needed to use dodgy hacks as mentioned in this thread of enabled/disabling speaker phone when performing a call). So I've seen many places where you put this code in the dialer: *#*#4636#*#* But its VoLTe is always greyed out no matter what. I am not sure if Telstra have some whitelisting going on or what. Anyway, what finally ended up work

  3. I just came here to share my report of replacing a screen assembly. After replacing, I now have a working screen. Two corners of the screen exhibit the black corner problem that is common with these replacement screens. These black corners are not intrusive and don't hinder normal use. Since most of the Aliexpress links in all the threads have rotted, here's a new one: For F(x)tec Pro1 QX1000 LCD Display Touch Screen Sensor Digiziter Assembly Replace F(x)tec Pro 1 LCD Touch. I bought that whole assembly part instead of just a screen + digitizer, as my plastic screen frame had cracked a bi

  4. Yes, they are reliable for delivery. Not great on after purchase support like OS updates and such, but they will deliver your phone. That's what I'd say, too, after a few months with the Titan Slim. Also, for what it is, it worked well enough. If you were happy with the Key2, you might also be good with the SIlm, even though it's much more plasticky than what I've seen from BlackBerry. (In the end, I found both the portrait mode keyboard and the screen too small for my tastes, which made me try the 5+ times more expensive Honor Magic V2 foldable phone, which seems to do it for me, e

  10. This one may not be the best option (unless the unavailability of pure screen) because it includes the metal frame for Elephone what means you should detach the screen prior installing it in Pro1. Anyway, it is possible but you should be gentle and some heat will be needed - the best is a heat gun running at low temperature (around 100-150 Celsius degree applying from distance) and relatively low air flow. The Elephone U Pro screen what I had was glued to a metal frame using a big surface so it is harder to remove uninjured than a Pro1 screen which was (at least initially) only glued

  11. adb is not supported on the bootloader level. Use fastboot. Step-by-step guides on flashing back to stock are found here: Disclaimer: I have not tested those instructions myself.

  12. I've uploaded my latest build of LineageOS 16.0 for Pro1 (SD835) at: http://findus.zwergenschaenke.net/~puma/linux.html#lineagepro1 Go for the ROM dated "20240620". Changes since last month: Include backported Android security patches up to the June 2024 ASB. Update bundled version of WebView to Chromium 125.0.6422.165. As usual, the full patchlog with respect to the unmodified, official LOS 16.0 tree is available at the link above. Have fun.

  13. From what has been discovered only fairly recently by @claude0001, it seems that there might be a hardware related issue at the core of those connectivity problems, so firmware wouldn't help.

  16. Thanks a lot. Thus far, while the Slim has its weaknesses (the camera is not great and the keyboard is not as good as the Key 2), I'm getting on reasonably OK with it, and it's certainly better than I feared it might be!

  17. I have received my screen from Aliexpress and it is missing the connector board. Are there any specific instructions how to move it from the broken screen without damaging? edit: There were 2 small screws near the camera and some glue in the middle Screen has been replaced successfully. The screen is ok, everything works as intended. I can recommend the full frame Pro1 screen from Aliexpress 🙂

  23. For me it's quite simple: private people have to go through a lot of effort to actually refund their money if they haven't paid by credit card. IGG as a company would be quite successful on the other hand. So they obviously prioritise those who can defend themselves while we have to wait forever.

  24. I understand your disappointment, but it's a fine PDA. That's how I use mine even though my phone and data work okay. I have Lineage 21 (Android 14) on it and it is so much more productive than a slab phone. My slab phone only serves as a car phone (paired with Android Auto). My Pro1x is my daily driver for everything else. I have a Pro1 also, but I prefer the Pro1x (mostly because so better Qwerty keyboard decisions for my use). If it still can charge, I would maintain it. Or at least sell it. But don't toss it (You may have meant that not literally, I don't know). But, yeah, if it

  27. Not I... and this evening my long-suffering Key2 appears finally to have given up the ghost: the keyboard has died!! I've just ordered a Unihertz Titan Slim from Unihertz's own online shop - I do hope they are reliable (does anybody know??). My Pro1X (I was a backer) is now just a source of conceptual comedy, though naturally I am quite a large sum of money out of pocket. If I ever see it (which seems vanishingly unlikely) I'll be putting it straight onto E-bay or the like, as it would be a complete irrelevance... But I'm sure that is an entirely hypothetical scenario!

  30. Is it just my browser, or has the forum become public again? For some reason, my default browser had lost all its cookies, which logged me out of all websites, but https://community.fxtec.com right now showed me the complete original start page with all the latest "topics" before I logged in again.

  31. That would explain it. My guess is when I migrated from my pro to my pro1x, the settings for quickstep came along. So even though you can't set it, the behavior was still able to work on the Pro1X. Either Google's built in backup had the setting, or my restore from titanium backup did it.

  35. Right, it was the preorder of original Pro1 (so when Pro1 was in development stage and not even existed yet).

  36. I remember it being promoted as well but not for Indiegogo. Instead, I think they wanted to send it to their very first 'Preorders' but they changed their mind quite early which was okay for us all. Nobody really wanted these earphones. I don't know if anybody actually got them since I believe somebody said that their quality was very bad.

  37. Well it's more profitable to sell them behind our backs instead of deliver them of course... Where was this 'pre-order bonus' mentioned? I don't want/need them, but I want to verify these were promised at some point in the campaign.

  39. I think you are right. If they only produced those 200 pcs listed in eBay then I understand why they did not deliver them since many people here did not even need/want those earphones (including me). However, if there is more units then it is little bit strange. Why not to deliver if they had produced them already? To my understanding the whole point of forgetting earphones was to cut costs.

  43. Make your displays last longer I've recently ordered a bunch of those 'b-ware' displays and out of seven, two were in good condition and one is usable (~20€ each). That's okayish since there are no good displays to order anymore. As the displays are so scarce nowadays and they never caused touchscreen problems when assembled in the original phones (Elephone U Pro), I've looked more into the touchscreen issues. I've inspected the frame and searched for a point of failure. And I think I found one. Using one of the broken displays in my order (big black dots over the display) I found o

  46. Kinda reassuring that I'm not alone with this. Had to open up my Pro1 to replace the bulging battery today (screen was already a bit wobbly and no longer flush when closed). While reassembling I ripped the fingerprint cable apart. I don't even know how I'm supposed to put it back in place while also holding both sides of the lower shell. If I get a replacement, I'll probably destroy that one, too. Phone is charging and properly closing again at least. Battery was still at 47% despite having a manufacturing date of mid 2019.
