Hook 3,091
Lineage-22.1-20250101-NIGHTLY-pro1 with December 5th security patch installed smoothly. I have not installed MindTheGapps 15 or rooted as I have been experimenting with using my Pro1 Google Free (well, Playstore system free) since my Pro1x is actually my daily driver (as a writer, I like the keyboard tweaks better on the Pro1x). I did this using the update instructions for the first time. It worked beautifully, leaving all of my data intact. You are essentially doing an OTA update, except you have to do the update manually. The instructions are very clear and it's so nice not to have to rebuild the phone after a major version update. As always, although a Windows user most of the time, I used a Linux laptop (Manjaro) to do this stuff. So far, everything is working. Will advise if I find anything that isn't.
EskeRahn 5,494
Did a dirty flash (no factory reset) from lineage-21.0-20241228-nightly-pro1-signed.zip on December 1 security patch and MindTheGapps-14.0.0-arm64-20240925_175633 to lineage-22.1-20250101-nightly-pro1-signed.zip on December 5 security patch and MindTheGapps-15.0.0-arm64-20240928_150548 using adb sideload And all seems to work as before. 🙂 We still can only select one keyboard layout though, so no easy layout switching, for multilingual usage. 😢 1

It worked beautifully I was unaware they added these nice instructions, but that is almost exactly what I did, having already fetched the MTG package for 15 a month ago, and prepared the batchfiles i usually use with suitably bumped numbers.

Hook 3,091
I split out the Android Auto discussion, Just seemed like something that needed it's own focus rather than being buried in here, Hope no one minds. 1
DoctorClu 0 Posted yesterday at 03:18 PM Share Posted yesterday at 03:18 PM Hi all, long time Pro1 user and all. Good to find this place. One question as the Pro1 works OK in the stock configuation, does upgrading this improve: *Phone speaker or microphone? *Camera quality? What do you all find your gained from upgrading? claude0001 1,368 Posted yesterday at 08:55 PM Share Posted yesterday at 08:55 PM The only way of "upgrading" is installing LineageOS 22, which will give you the equivalent of Android 15. Since LIneageOS re-uses most of the device drivers from stock Android 9, it is unlikely that audio or camera quality will be improved. At least I do not know of any such updates. That being said, a recent LineageOS will give you all those Android security patches since 2020, which is of quite some value in itself ...
EskeRahn 5,494
to @DoctorClu, I agree with @claude0001, but LineageOS also has it drawbacks, over stock, though for some they might not matter. Pros and cons.... Personally the lack of multiple key-layouts, that was broke a few versions ago, makes it almost useless for me (use it for tests only). And there might be some app that have very high security requirements that might not work.Could e.g. be bank apps, or some apps for putting official papers like drivers licence or similar identification apps on the phone. Some might work fine though, but not all.

EskeRahn 5,494
Is anyone else having issues with app-updates in the android market? I normally have automatic updates OFF, but even if I (for test) set it ON, I get the same bug, that after most of the download it stalls. It can be a tiny update less than 1MB. It most often stops at 99%, but can be earlier. If earlier putting in and out of aeroplane mode usually get it to 99%. Google's Updates works just fine on my Pro1 on stock. And my Pro1X on stock yesterday, (all using the same Google account). Last this one updated was January 3. So that could have been on 21.0 So MIGHT be related to that I did NOT do a factory update, but did flash a new MTG with the 22.1 (I obviously tried to kill the store, and to restart the Pro1, also with long press, but no difference)NOTE that I have mobile data OFF, so it is supposed to use WiFi ONLY.Enabling mobile data does not change a thing Nor does it matter if I only request update of a single app. Also tried to clear data from cache+storage - no difference. Removing the sim and restarting does not help either.

Have you tried clearing Play Store cache, or a simulated battery pull (hold power until you get a spontaneous reboot, ignoring the normal restart button). Generally, when something goes flaky on Android, the latter works miracles.

(it is my spare/test-device, so tolerable)
