I would imagine that the post is just the answer to unclear factors since we don't really have official information anywhere. In order to prevent more speculation, I'd imagine that he confirmed the shipping officially, which does not mean that they haven't completed more steps in the meantime. Words were misinterpreted very often with horrible effects here in the forum.

They were simply not able to get the latest chip since they are a startup and vendors don't really care for low amount requests. Also, it's absolutely true that not everybody would buy a device for 800-900€ for 20% more cpu speed (if even). For me, personally, it's the most expensive phone I ever bought. I bought PCs for over 3000€, but my phones are only used for calling, texting and browsing. Often business use. If it would have cost 900€, I would probably have waited until I got a used phone for less.

[poll] Have you had a keyboard phone before?
SchattengestaIt replied to netman's topic in General Discussion
To be honest, typing without autocorrect (I've always hated it) and with a good virtual keyboard (not that google shit but one with numbers, shift/ctrl and special signs typed by two fingers) is quite pleasing. The only reason I want a keyboard phone is because you are able to type blind completely with them, while you still have to correct yourself with a virtual keyboard from time to time. -
I asked specifically when I would receive my device (regular order in mid-october) and they told me that all preorders should receive their device by end of November (shipping from factory starts mid-November). They were also optimistic to complete shipping all orders until then, definitely before christmas.

What is the latest slider keyboard phone we have currently? Is it the Photon Q or are there newer devices with better hardware? I didn't hear about the Nokia N950 before so I probably just lived on the moon. -
Is my thought too simple to basically see it as a 3-step shipping? Factory - warehouse in EU, USA and probably Asia - custome5. Factory: production of devices, shipping in batches to the warehouses Warehouse: located in diffetent continents. Batches get sent there by air (shipping multiple devices is cheaper than single shipping to each customer around the world) and then get shipped personally to the customer Customer: The last step of shipping, ideally done as close to the warehouse as possible. While the first batch was first sent to the warehouse (fulfillm

I thought that "not-so-smart" phone would mean a low-spec smartphone (since it was slow as hell). But I don't think it does really matter... -
Can you really not set more rules? In my device you can set as many rules as you want... (LineageOS)

Milestone 1 (first smartphone), Milestone 2, Droid 3, Droid 4 (x2), Photon Q, Motorola G3 (x2) with Software-Clavis Keyboard (computer key layout). -
This sounds most realistic to me. However I wonder where those "3000" orders came from. I really thought they were having around 20k orders?

According to previous mails written to the support and probably forum posts too, the initial plan was to send out small batches consecutively. They were going to be sent with only a few days of difference. I guess that plan was cancelled and they gather up devices instead to send them out all at once in mid-november. This makes sense logistically, financially and it probably even saves time since they can focus on the production of units. Also, this decision may has a connection to the shopping event in China so no deviced get lost or extremely delayed. We must not forget

I am sorry then. I always found the blinking irritating, as well as I do with charging adapters that blink or shine too bright. I always burn those LEDs out whenever it's possible. Your points make sense and I didn't know that you were able to disable them (except in the rom itself), glad this was implemented. Btw SirBacon: You might not now about automatic rules for silent modes. Or is your phone too old to have that? I think it was implemented with Android 6.

I imagine this being the first batch, those are 20 devices on the top, so I'd expect 100 devices per box, which would equal to 600 devices in the first batch. If we are talking about 1000+ IGG backers, a litte more than half of those will receive their device in the next week or so. Also, if you are interested: The support confirmed me that they expect my device (regular order 38xxx, paid mid-october) to be delivered by the end of this month. I will "most certainly" receive it before Christmas. I'm slightly pessimistic about the end of this month for regular orders but I believe th

I took the step to no LED as well by mistake. But I'm glad I did. Most of the notifications we get aren't important, but we still give them our attention and time. Since I don't have an LED anymore (I later found out that I had a white one which was disabled by the system), I only use my phone when I really want to. This was then extended by disabling sounds for most apps and contacts except for phone calls and messages from important people (partner, family and mechanic). It's like the e-mail that will get answered once you have time for it and WANT to read (private) mails. Imagine e-m

Okay, bad example. Then let's talk about non-overclocked performance. You will agree that they are both completely suitable for daily use and except for some task (which in mobile case don't really happen often) you will not notice any difference. I was fixing a computer of a friend last time and he had a i7 860. After adding an SSD and a cheap 75W graphics card, this thing is fast. And the PC/CPU is now nine years old. Of course, you wouldn't be benchmarking or rendering with it, but neither you need to do with your phone. For loading times, business use and browsing thi

Officially, all pre-ordered devices should get shipped by mid-november. However, a second batch will be sent out then, so that info is unclear. They want to have general availability (direct order) in december, so all preorders and orders should have been shipped by end of novembet. The support also told me before that the batches would only be shipped with 2-3 days of difference. My best non-official and realistic guess is that all devices get shipped by christmas - if they do have or get high production rates (500+ devices per day). That's at least what I hope. That's just not true. An old Nokia, Droid or even Photon never had the newest technology. They were sold as mid-range phones both with the chips as well as their displays. It was just too risky to build a high-end device with a keyboard that would probably not sell since there was no market. This company took the risk and as a startup didn't have access to the newest chip. Still, it was high-end two years ago and by any means isn't slow nowadays. As I said before, you'd probably not even notice a difference to a 845 or the newest 855. It's like comparing an Intel 6700K to an Intel 87

I would actually suggest daily updates (except weekend since most companies don't work then) to prevent speculation and answer questions before they get asked. Also, numbers would be a great thing: batch size or if that is not possible the percentage of orders covered with the first batch. This would make the whole process more transparent and more people would understand. My personal reason looking numbers is, that Liangchen explained that one device would take 4-5 hours to assemble. This sounds realistic to me but given that there are ~50 workers (correct me if I'm wrong) in

Until a year ago, I was still using my Photon Q (2012), before then it was the Droid 4, Droid 2 and Droid 1. All those phones died after a while so currently I'm stuck with a Motorola G3 with an on-screen computer keyboard (Clavis Keyboard) which at least has the same key layout as computer keyboards do. So I can entirely understand that people will use this device for years, even decades. If there won't be other keyboard phones, I'll probably use this device until 2030. Also, I don't understand how people are cancelling their orders because their current phone have a slightly

Weird, I still have the price of 667€ (includes €111.17 EUR VAT) in my account. It was a regular order made in mid September, so prices must have changed recently. I guess it's connected to payment, although my order information still says "On hold".

Shipping starts at 29th october (according to their plans), batches should come every few days. I expect the batches to be higher, since they told me that even the last orders should get their device in mid-november. We'll see, but if you also paid early, I'm sure your device will come soon.

I've heard about a gaming phone recently that offered the ability to assign keys (or buttons equivalently) to screen input. That's why I was asking. I wonder if you could simply program a function for a key input (which I doubt) or if there need to be hardware requirements to do so. That way, if the keyboard just tells the system to output a specific key (most probably defined in a keychar file), such functions (screen input, makros) wouldn't be easily possible. Well, Makros could probably be set in the keychar file (which would be fine for me), but it would be a nice option to use the keyb

We are again moving towards a discussion of when exactly we receive the devices. I was told by the support (and it is written in this thread as well) that the next batches will come with only a few days difference and I would receive my device in mid-November (I ordered just a few weeks ago). If that is to be believed, I think that we shouldn't worry too much about order numbers. I just hope that their factory is able to produce at the speed they are expecting.

Hello there, Since shipping is coming closer, I was wondering if there will be the possibility to not only reprogram the keys and shortcuts but also the option to assign keys to touchscreen locations? That way you could use your keyboard as in emulators over quite a lot of standard. touchscreen games. I'm imagining WASD for movement, maybe in a survival game "F" to pick up stuff, etc. - with the keys assigned to specific screen locations. I've seen this before with another phone. Also, I'm currently using "Clavis Keyboard" as an onboard keyboard. Apart from it having the computer keybo

I think the main problems aren't the unexpected delays, but the missing communication. If something goes wrong, I have to communicate with my customers. I'm seeing the same with the company I work at. We don't get informed about production delays, we hear from our customers that our orders don't get shipped and some orders get changed manually without any communication. In my view, transparency is one of the key requirements for companies to survive on a long-term basis.
