  1. I'm not disappointed but very glad to hear usable numbers for the first time. I most probably won't receive my phone by christmas (regular order in september), but now I know when to epect it. Thanks a lot for this bit of transparency. And of course best luck on further improving the rate to maybe hit general availability by Christmas!
  2. Should be possible to backup with Titanium backup, right? Send me a Pro 1 and I'll try!
  3. Well, I guess that votes are connected to the number of the question. That would mean, that changing the order would screw everything up. Additional answers would make the poll difficult as well since some have already answered.
  4. I fear that editing the poll would duck it up. You can only rewrite the answers and I'm not exactly sure what happens with the votes then.
  5. Well, you got your poll. However, the additional pressure won't really help in terms of delivery. I'm sure they work as hard as they can, but it just takes too much time. It's mostly the missing and incorrect communication that makes us upset.
  6. Since we have so many polls, I decided it's time to add another one. Please tick the answer that you are convinced of, not the one you hope for. This could give us (and Fxtec) a vague overview on how their supporters/customers feel about the Pro 1 currently.
  7. Well, I wouldn't say that they will earn more money if we all refund and just go our way. As electristan said: for most of us it's a nice to have, not a "need to have". Not all of us would buy the thing afterwards when it's released to the public when they were deceived multiple times. I wouldn't. I don't want to start over all those discussions, not in this thread. But we all agree that errors can be made and unseen problems can appear. But we also agree that since we paid for it, we deserve at least some information. If there won't be any and if there won't be devices,
  8. For me, it highly depends on their communication. If they tell me on 5th december, that it can or will delay to january or even february, that's alright for me. If they tell me that the third batch will be sent out at latest on 15th december and then there will be absolutely no communication about the progress (as we experience it currently - again), then I will most probably refund. Especially, when they continue to promise stuff that they they know they can't fulfill. Anyways, although the communication is gone again, I'm still hopeful that we get the devices before christma
  9. Well, we're also obscuring a lot of screen space with a keyboard right now, so I don't believe it would be too much of a problem. My problem is that my eyes are good but my thumbs are big. I've everything set to the lowest size but my thumbs just want to press multiple buttons at once. Especially in this forum I often click the wrong things (like site numbers, forums/names instead of topics). Zooming is not an option for me, that's why I came up with a cursor. Especially when working with datasheets, that would be very helpful. The current touchscreen implementation isn't really usab
  10. Could you provide some more details like continent, model (qwertz/qwerty) and the payment time? That would help those of us still waiting (i.e. me) to estimate how far we are from getting our device.
  11. Well, that's the thing. If we talk about 7" laptops, those wouldn't be much bigger than current phones. And you can achieve the same functionality of a phone with a desktop OS nowadays. Calls and internet are possible, communication apps offer desktop interfaces or programs, so there isn't too much to miss. Battery management will be a thing of course, but there should be ways to keep notifications with minimum battery usage. That's what we are aiming for with desktop systems on phones: more functionality while having the functionality of a phone.
  12. I was thinking about this topic again... Would it be possible to program the touchscreen as a touchpad in Android or a desktop OS? That way you could use a cursor in a desktop OS or games in emulators with swiping over the touchscreen. I'm not talking about the exact position of your finger but controlling a cursor with the movement only. Don't blame me, I myself am not sure if this is a good idea either, but it should be possible, right?
  13. What I am wondering is... if you want to type on a table (that's the only real usecase of the Cosmo), why don't buy a small laptop? There are many laptops with a 10" screen (many of them with a 180° hinge or detachable keyboard) which would be WAY more usable for typing but still very small to carry around. I don't see how one would type with 10 fingers on a 7" keyboard, but I definitely think that it would be possible with a 10" one. Apart from the missing functionality a mobile device and system has, I just don't see an optimal usecase for a Cosmo Communicator.
  14. Twitter was always the place for some weird philosopher with a Pro 1 in its hand. Or maybe a teenager in its puberty, I wouldn't be able to distinguish them.
  15. Is the 1/95.000s shutter speed right? I thought my Sony Alpha with 1/4000s to be fast... I see two potential issues, which are the reason why I asked. The driver has limited ranges in which the standard app can do the same as the external app. However, the standard app is further limited to prevent noise, blurred images and so on. The other option I see is that the external app can't access or change all settings of the driver and therefore has to use standard settings which are written in the driver. From your description I'd expect it to be the second version.
  16. @EskeRahn Could the problem lie in the camera app not being able to change specific settings (because it was not yet programmed for this device)? That way it wouldn't be FxTecs fault but a function not yet implemented.
  17. These issues have reasons though. One wouldn't want criminals (i.e. isis or so) transfer huge amounts of money and get recognized too late. It's bad for companies, but after one or two authentification and reasoning steps, it should work out fine. The delivery time is a bigger issue in my mind, but as a customer I'm very happy to have this security (I got scammed once due to a missing paypal option). As so often said: next time will be better in many ways.
  18. Although I understand your point, Waxberry, but a Google certificate says nothing about privacy and security nowadays. Google collects all data it can get. Facebook isn't any better but had (as far as I know)many more data leaks. Whatsapp seems to have shared with Facebook partners (not caught yet) which would be highly illegal, but also a justification why Facebook paid 19 billion for it. These apps are not called spyware, but in my view they really are. They collect data without your permission and sell/use it for their usecase. And that may applies for the named app here, altouth
  19. Soooo... you are basically offering the regular (current) price with quite a few (though reasonable) demands to buy weeks to months? Doesn't sound like the best offer to me. If you really want the phone now, you should probably start from 800€ upwards. For a 20€ win margin nobody will face the trouble to sell you a brand new phone, shipping it to you and making sure that he doesn't too much money with fees.
  20. I just wanted to remark how well this text was translated. I can rarely find a difference between the original text and the translated one, in my view it's much better than Google translator. Very impressive!
  21. If somebody has problems with understanding why a small company takes so long to develop and ship a product for the first time, this may help you. For me it really helped understand the numerous difficulties and you get a lot of details that companies couldn't give you. PS: I don't know why it embeds or how I prevent that. Sorry!
  22. If it wasn't Google, Apple and so on, I'd use it too. It's contactless (something not all banks have as a standard) and for small payments which I make a lot, it would be really useful to have a list of purchases which doesn't conflict with the bank account. But it's Google so I skip this app. Anyways, it's still not my or your task to tell other people how to use their device. This is generally something I'd recommend for any kind situation: don't tell others what to do. (And no, I'm not telling you not to tell others what to do, I'm only recommending it!)
  23. Droid 1 -> Droid 2 (x2) -> Droid 4 (x2) -> Photon Q -> Motorola G3 -> Pro 1 (probably) Motorola all the way, but they abandoned me/us.
  24. Nice try! There is no dog! It's just empty space where the Opendogcam inserts a random dog in the middle of the photo.
  25. I prefer them working on custom builds (or improving their compatibility) instead of trying to provide the quickest updates of a stock system. Most of us will flash a new rom anyways. But I've read somewhere that they are working on Android 10. Also, don't forget that the device was planned to be shipped in mid-september, before Android 10 was published.
