Phone not responding

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've successfully flashed SailfishOS (latest build 3.2.1.20 - from 20200204) and everything worked fine. However, I've decided to update the system by typing "

 version --dup

and during the update I've got notification that in the storage not all partitions are in correct format and suggested to format it to vfat. I've formatted some random small partitions as well (probably mistake?). When system requested reboot, I've typed "reboot" in devel-su root shell. After that phone stopped working. Can't reboot it, can't start it, doesn't react at all. When i hold power button +volume down, no reaction. I can't do anything. When I connect it to my Linux box, in 'lsusb' I can only see new entry: Qualcomm, Inc. Gobi Wireless Modem. Fastboot don't see any device.

Can anyone help me? ;/

So I've managed to restore my device to the original image. I was following the solution from Tom and using his tool from here:

http://files.nwwn.com/android/pro1/factory.html

However, I've faced the same problem which some people were posting here: "Connection time out". Have no idea what could be the reason of that. Nevertheless, in the end I managed to successfully reflash the phone. The trick is to have prepared tool for reflashing and to press a button as fast as possible immediately after you reboot the device (power + volume button down). Because device ins completely unresponsive, you can see if the phone is really rebooted by e,g, watching lsusb and see if the that status change (e.g. Device ID). If that happens, try to press 'flash' ASAP. If you do it in the same second when the device rebooted (status changed) then it works. If you do it later you will have "Connection time out". Pretty weird race window but can safe your phone from turning to the useless brick.

Many thanks goes to Tom for creating such recovery tools using EDL!

Glad you resolved it.   You're not the first person to mess things up by formatting those sfos partitions.

So let me ask you a question.... I've always updated with zypper refresh and zypper update.  What does version --dup do?
