What's this "Magnifier/Search" Key

Recommended Posts

It could be it is not on the default keyboard mapping.
What's your layout Qwerty or Qwertz?

If qwerty you could try FxQwerty it gives you a bunch of similar shortcuts albeit different.
I'm not sure if FinQwerty would help there.

Yeah, it's a mystery.  If I had to guess, I'd guess there were plans for a search key and IdeaLTE worked it into the shortcuts, and then the key was abandoned and IdeaLTE never went back and cleaned things up.  Either that or IdeaLTE just brought over shortcuts from another device and never cleaned them up.

But, of course, I'm just guessing.

QWERTY. Using Swiftkey at the moment.

SwiftKey is the software keyboard, you can use it together with keyboard layouts such as FinQwerty or FxQwerty.

There's a section under Keyboard settings for Keyboard Helper shortcuts, but I can't seem to figure out what that "Magifier/Search" key is. Tried the Fx key and it isn't it.

Yeah, Lineage fixed this by assigning the yellow F key to 'Meta' (aka Super, Windows-key).    There are the built in Android Shortcuts and Bookmarks.  Regarding the SYM key, that should be Right-Alt (also fixed on lineage) which brings up a symbols menu when used by itself (like the emoji menu on left alt).

from my reddit post oabout lineage: https://www.reddit.com/r/fxtec/comments/fjoj79/lineage_16_on_pro¹_keyboard_shortcuts_features/The yellow F F(x)tec logo key (assigned as Meta) in combination with various keys is used for Bookmarks. The first time you use a bookmark, you'll be prompted to assign a specific app.

  • Add (Calculator)

  • Browse (Web)

  • Contacts

  • E-mail

  • List (Calendar)

  • Maps

  • Notifications

  • Play (Music)

  • BACKSPACE: Android Back

  • ENTER: Android Home

  • SlantArrow+P: List Bookmarks (Yes, that is a three-key chord, Fx+SlantArrow+P. Thank Fxtec for not giving us a slash key for that one.)

When Meta (Fx logo key) is pressed and released, your default Assit app will open.  By default it is unassigned and Lineage doesn't include any apps to assign it to, but if you have 3rd party apps installed, you will likely find some choices available. In my case, when set to Firefox, it opens a new Firefox tab (whether Firefox is currently open or not).   When set to Google, it immediately starts listening for voice instructions - even when locked!  Cool!
