Same on the original ones I got

Crazy how most of the batch this is from is probably also busted. Welp I gotta make sure I don't break it again. lol

At this point I am just waiting for someone to make a flip with actual headphone jack. (since I like the benefits of a clam in size)

But nobody is willing to make one...I honestly don't get the obsession with dust and waterproofing, especially the latter. So yeah until then this old boi needs to hang in there.

But interesting discovery that they aren't really totally black, when looking carefully. Hhere from flashing Linux.

Interesting, on my original screen the corners were purely perma black, no amount of brigthness did anything with them. The replacement screen is similar to your defect, a little bit of stuff is visible, like it has that black layer on top of it but the pixels are still toast for the most part.

Well, the screen error is the smallest problem for me. The corners are starting to turn black and the spot in the middle of the edge is getting bigger. I use it as the only phone every day, 24 hours a day. It's a shame that it can't switch between the real keyboard and the virtual one, and the camera is really rubbish. I'm taking my SLR camera with me again now. I only use Android because I rely on a lot of apps from the Play Store. Making calls, WiFi and Bluetooth work, not well, but usable. Will there be an Android update? That would be good. All in all, the phone is usable, and above all something special. I always get surprised looks when I open it, which is worth it.

That is an unusual placement for the black spot.  Dark mode will at least hide it.

I'm not sure what you men about not being able to switch to on-screen keyboard. I just double checked my Pro1x that is still on stock and on-screen keyboard comes up in portrait.  If you mean having it come up in landscape (I have no  idea why you would want one in landscape, but if you do you probably have a good reason, there is a setting in settings> system > Languages and Input > Physical Keyboard  called "Use on-screen keyboard.  That will allow you to switch to the on-screen landscape keyboard using the space bar in some contexts or using a little keyboard icon in the upper right corner. If you want it in landscape with the keyboard closed, you will probably need screen rotation on and the keyboard icon should still appear.

There will be no updates to the stock Android.  If you want updated Android, including Google security updates, you need to go  to Lineage OS which currently supplies Android 14 and is preparing Android 15.

Hello and thanks for the answer. Yes, I use a dark background so the spots don't bother me. And I want to use the on-screen keyboard in portrait mode, but it doesn't work. It's switched on. Too bad. Does the Play Store work on Lineage OS too? Then I'll have to look into it. But we have nice phones, I like my pro1x.

I'm not sure with the default keyboard app, but I remember that SwiftKey gave me more flexibility there, including an options to get the correction line displayed even in landscape orientation together with the physical keyboard.

I have no idea why you don't get an on-screen keyboard when in portrait. Getting the on-screen keyboard in portrait is default behavior on my Pro1x with stock.

Yes, you install a Gapps package with Lineage (link in the Lineage instructions) and that gives you the Play Store.
