This is the key to Magisk surviving updates. When you flash Magisk in recovery mode, it installs its survival script. It can't do that if you just install it as an apk. And yes, you can install Magisk in recovery on top of an existing apk install to gain this functionality.

Thanks for confirming that... I was pretty sure I saw connectors of some sort under that wrap. I just wasn't sure how important the wrap was or if it was just a protective wrap. I'll eventually get curious enough to investigate, but for now I'm not too worried.

It's really hard to interpret those lines differently than that further development of stock Android (on which all alternative OS's rely on in the end!) is essentially off the table. Bad news for anyone who hoped for updated driver modules or firmwares that would fix network reliability issues. This is the second month in a row with no news whatsoever on in-house software development or bug-fixing (after we've been in "the final sprint" for an OTA since November or so). I've opened the wrap before (but I don't know why), you can simply seal it with scotch tape afterwards. Be sure to not touch the white/grey part of the battery itself though.

Hello all, after 3 years I have received my phone, ordered January 2020. I received an email saying that my order was completed, before that, I filed to be reimbursed. No tracking number were provided, just an email saying my order was completed. I received the email about 2-3 weeks ago, I’m also located in New Jersey.

The rule about updates is ambiguous. It just uses the term "monthly," which is satisfied as long as an update is made once each calendar month. So, technically, an update on the 1st of one month and the 31st of the next month would satisfy the criteria.

I flash Magisk as a zip in recovery when I first flash Lineage. After first boot, I download and open Magisk Manager and choose the install option where Magisk Manager does all the boot image patching shuffle and rebooting automagically itself. After that, I never touch Magisk Manager again (I only root for SU, I don't use any of the modules-- or at least I don't change any defaults) and I keep root after OTA.

On the top of the battery, there's a sealed circuit. It's around 5mm wide and sealed in some yellow tape. I haven't opened the FxTec battery but most batteries have their two terminals which go into the circuit (usually a BMS - battery management system, sometimes including thermal sensors). I'm 99% sure we'll find the same thing here. And yes, the connector has positive and negative output (4 pins each, I believe), you can measure the battery by those outer pins and also charge it up to 4.2V with them. You could also measure it through your mainboard, there are golden (round) test spots

My guess would be they ship the batteries with about 50% charge, so I'm not too worried. What I'm not sure is how one would charge the battery with those converters... can you link to one. Unlike any battery Ive ever seen (but they were all removable), there are no visible + and - contacts. I have a universal charger for batteries like that. But this battery is sealed except for a very thing cable with a connector on the end. Probably the connector has tiny pins for + and - contacts, but I'm really not knowledgeable in this area.
