  1. Looking at the latest result from my old poll, I find it odd that they would completely disregard the SCANDI layout... :/ [attachment file=Screenshot 2019-08-09 11.32.14.png] The interest is clearly there. But what do I know..
  2. Oh? So why have they notmessaged me about this?... :/ They even acknowledged my SCANDI-order and now for the pre--pay, I got the "pay later" notice for paying when the Scandi-version comes out. Could they not then just have told me "will not be available, do you want to cancel"? Time to look at my old poll...
  3. Please enlighten me if I am wrong here, but I have never heard of bad software screwing up your SIM-cards, so I don't understand why people are so hesitant to try the BETA-phone as their daily driver. If I get the beta-test, I will absolutely try to use it as my main phone and see where it holds up and where it doesn't. Or can bad OS brick SIM-cards?
  4. Just because the big companies get away with over pricing their devices, doesn't mean it is right and that it is then okay to do so. I hate this mindset that "but apple does it, so it is okay". The budget brands really shows how much the big companies rip customers off with their prices. And unlike small brands with low production rates, Apple and Samsung shouldn't need to take so much profit margin per device; in fact it should be the other way around. But of course, if they can, they will. It is the customers that are stupid for buying into the pricing schemes. I would also exploit that. Obv
  5. I agree, that panel quality is more important. However, in 2019, there is no reason for compromising on either of them, especially at this price point. The display was just one example. Once you get used to working with a higher resolution it is difficult to go back; I picked up my old phone with 1920x1080 screen, and it does feel like the workspace is so limited compared to my LG. For apps with proper scaling this is not an issue, but e.g. I tried to take a screen shot of an e-mail from outlook app on both devices, and the lower screen resolution did indeed result in a much tighter-cut i
  6. Thanks for the info! Nice to see that other than me are also impatient. :D I really hope they can get the phone out soon, because with the release of more and more budget phones from China, the price to performance for this phone is becoming increasingly more ridiculous. Yes - I am still prepared to support this niche product (I want physical qwerty back), but for example, I think a 1080p panel on a phone like this is to cheap out quite substantially, compared to my now 3 year old LG G6 with 1440p panel. The longer this release will take, the more "stupid" this package start to look. I mea
  7. Hello! July is here, and we are yet to receive any actual release date. Or have I just missed it? When can we expect the first US versions to start shipping, and how long are we ought to wait for other language versions after that? I kinda expect a Nordic version for November/December, but would be nice to get some in-house updates regarding this. Thank you!
  8. Of course I don't expect super hi-fi IEMs; thus I didn't suggest anything from the likes of SHURE or Sennheiser. But I always appreciate the gesture. I think it was Xiaomi that always added a small case and some headphones with even their budget phones. It is just a small gesture of like "we know it is not much, but we want to give you as complete of an experience as possible". It's similar to nice packaging; nice packaging of your device doesn't improve your user experience at all, but it is always nice to see that the company cares about your experience and first impression.
  9. That's why I suggested the Ostry. They are good, but still low cost. My LG G6 came with surprisingly good IEMs too, much better than I would have expected from "tag-along" IEMs for a phone. In general I do believe people expect to get something with the phone (any phone). Everytime I have bought a phone that doesn't come with any IEMs, my initial reaction has been "Wow... how cheap can a company be" even if I never expect any good quality IEMs. But perhaps that is just me.
  10. Nope, not a thing. Would be dope if they partnered with Ostry Audio and gave us basically the KC06 with a mic.
  11. (To continue my post above:) But all that said, then we have phones like these from China that really messes with this price idea: https://eu.redmagic.gg/products/red-magic-3 That is 479 dollars for a phone with SD855, 128 gb storage, 8 GB RAM and 90 hz panel and active cooling (yes, it has a built in fan). And when you look at it from that perspective, then the Pro1 is very overpriced. Personally, I would like to see the Pro1 launch at 550 dollars instead. But I also want QWERTY phones back to the market, so I will be okay with the 650 it costs now.
  12. I would argue the inherent issue here is Samsung, Apple and Huawei. They pretty much set the stage for what is "acceptable" and "normal" prices on devices. Go back to the Galaxy S8 and iPhone 7. Flagship phones releasing for 700 - 800 dollars. Other brands were at 600 for flagships. And OnePlus then was at 400-500. But thanks to iPhone X and Galaxy Note 8 (or whichever came the same year as the iPhone X), the norm was suddenly shifted to 1000 dollars for flagship devices - and people still paid! So thus the mid-tier was suddenly 700-800 dollars (previous flagship territory) and "budget pho
  13. Warning - angry rant (not targeted at you, more like a continuation of what you commented) It is the bloody stigma of the tech enthusiast industry; I mean of course I get excited about new tech, and of course it is awesome to see new chipsets and CPUs on the market for various devices etc. But especially in the smartphone market, there seems to be an ironic amount of elitism amongst reviewers and also consumers. As was the case with the Nokie 9 PureView. Everyone was like "this is a really great phone, with some new awesome never-seen-before camera technology in a phone, but it "only" h
  14. My apologies! It was just that some of your responses in some other threads really sounded like you were part of the dev team. ?
  15. Unfortunately there is no way to add more things to the poll after it has received responses. The current poll is already a second poll, but that one had only been up for one day when I re-made that one. I dont think it would be productive to make a third one and have to again wait for people to reply. Besides @netman has seen your post, so fxtec knows about your wishes. ?
  16. I am very surprised to not see any love for AZERTY. Wherr are all the French at? Or do French ppl usually use other layouts more often? Tbh I have not seen any of my French collegues ever having AZERTY...
  17. And some more updates on the current result in the poll: [attachment file=15448] Date: 24 May, 2019
  18. No because disabling the lock screen would then allow for pocket clicks and such. But sure, as many have said, the finger print reader is (hopefully) in such a good position it is easy to unlock just prior to opening the keyboard anyways. I was just curious, as I saw a video with someone using the pro1 sliding out the keyboard, but the phone remained locked - thus waking this question in my head.
  19. This might have been asked here already, but will it be possible to make the phone unlock when opening the keyboard? I know from a security stand point it is not ideal, but I really loved on my Xperia Pro that when I slid the phone open, android unlocked and I could immediately get into using/typing on the phone
  20. I really loved the keys on the Xperia Pro. If you say the Pro1 is even better, then OMG!!!! :D I would remove the physical buttons, or at least move them a bit.
  21. Great read! Good job on the text. I only skimmed through it now, will read it thoroughly later! I almost started crying seeing the Sony Xperia Pro there! :D Still the perfect size for my not so big hands. That phone with modern hardware, with edgeless screen and 2:1 screen (i.e. have some top and bottom bezels) would be perfect.
  22. Yeah, most flaghships nowadays let you choose resolution. LG; Samsung, Google and OnePlus at least afaik. I use a grid of 7x5 on my phone. May I ask; how do you get a "4½" icon grid? :P
  23. I mean, just make it user customizable just like nova launcher and it will be fine for everyone. :D I never said it was a bad thing for EVERYONE that it was so filled with icons. I know some want it, I just can't stand it myself. I want simplicity on my desktop, and I will move to the app drawer then for the rest of the apps Actually, speaking of customization; if the following things were possible to customize as the end user it would be good icon grid (i.e. how many icons you will show on the desktop) (albeit I will probably use my Nova Launcher anyway, cause I am so used to it by now)
