  1. @eskerahn I honestly don't have an issue with this, because to me it looks cleaner. The one on the right is too cramped imo. Best would be a compromise between the two examples you have. Also, you are kinda showing off apples and oranges here, as the one to the left is showing email converstaion (different messages in the same convestation) whilst the other one is the inbox. In the gmail app you can see 4 different conversations simultaneously (so one less than your other example) because of more spacing between the messages - which again, I think makes for a clearer and less "2000's" interf
  2. I use both gmail and outlook mail app, and both work flawlessly in landscape. As does the SMS app, whatsapp, discord, twitter, skype, and slack (damn I have lots of communication apps...) Twitch app is the only one I am not happy with, but most things with the twitch app is really bad imo, so landscape mode is the least of my concerns there...
  3. Oh don't get me wrong; I also find it odd that there are such apps that don't support landscape; as I mentioned before, I use my phone 90+ percent in landscape. But I also have not had any real issues with such apps apart from the occasional exception. So yes - it is great that fxtec offers to fix this, but I also feel like it really isn't their task to do that, instead of optimizing their own hard- and software and to implement it in a fluid way to apps already supporting landscape.
  4. @eskerahn: I guess I must have been lucky to only have used well-made apps then, since I cannot remember running into such an issue. Now that I think about it, I might have had some less important apps that have been locked to portrait. I believe my Espresso house app is locked into portrait mode, but there it doesn't matter, because you usually do not write in that one, just point and click. And for that, portrait is actually better Just because it has a keyboard doesn't mean you should/must use keyboard everywhere and always, does it? :P The radio app you show seems very similar; very
  5. Not to sound condescending - I really appreciate and admire all the amazing work that you do atm, but why is there (both here on the forum and in the live stream interview) such a huge topic/discussion about "optimizing apps for landscape" and "getting good keyboard support/navigation"? Why is this even a problem? I ask this because: 1) I don't know about you, but I use my regular phone like 90 % of the time in landscape. I cannot type in portrait mode anyways; feels too small to type on a portrait touch keyboard. And apart from only a few apps (can't even remember one now) I have never
  6. I did that for the Nokia 9 PureView. No acknowledgement from dbrand about my request. I do, however, believe (educated guess) it is fxtec that needs to form a proper license agreement with dbrand, not something we can really affect - especially since fxtec is such a small brand. dbrand won't reach out to them, unlike with perhaps Samsung, Apple, Huawei, LG and OnePlus etc. as it would be bad for dbrand not to partner with such big companies.
  7. If they could get a license agreement for an official dbrand skin it would solve two issues: it would counter the fatty fingers marks, and it would probably reduce/counter any wobble from the small camera bump. I really hope for dbrand, since a traditional case might be difficult for this slider-form factor.
  8. Yeah makes sense. It just makes me reflect on the odd decisions of the past (like... 8 years ago or so) when phones with physical keyboards could only be found in USA; My Xperia Pro Mk16i (which I loved so much) died, and I was looking at getting a newer keyboard phone. There were options from both LG, Samsung and Motorola (that I can remember). but for some odd reason, these phones were sold exclusively on the US-market. I still to this day cannot grasp why these phones were only sold to USA and not anywhere else. I doubt Europeans and Asians disliked physical keyboards any less than Ameri
  9. I did, and even so there are more German votes than US. That was the entire point. Obviously it is not a statistically significant poll yet, but it doesn't derive from the fact that the result SO FAR, is unexpected (imo). And yeah it is "useless" now as not enough people vote. I tried to tweet it to Fxtec for them to send it out to their followers, but they don't seem to care. If you can make it more relevant in some way, please feel free to do so.
  10. I'm very surpised that the most demanded layout so far, according to the poll, is the German QWERTZ. I was expecting US QWERTY International to be the leader of the pack, but nope... The results so far (15 May 2019): [attachment file=Screenshot 2019-05-15 12.21.58.png]
  11. Already available: https://www.twit.tv/shows/all-about-android/episodes/420?autostart=false
  12. I think you guys missed my post in the other thread yesterday: https://www.fxtec.com/forums/topic/alternative-layouts/page/9/#post-14634 First batch, by the sound of it, will only be US QWERTY*, with other layouts being shipped out later. *They only call it "QWERTY", but I assume it is US layout even if the company is UK based.
  13. That would be so awesome if this was indeed the case!
  14. I guess that is a subjective/personal opinion. I don't like it when there is too little communication. I guess I have learned to be somewhat suspicious of silent companies from the the gaming industry, where silence usually means they don't care about consumer feedback (albeit on later times, it has been the opposite with EA, Blizzard and Activision bashing gamers that complain....) Of course the Devs should not promise something they cant deliver. But just because they communicate, doesn't mean they should lie, does it? In another thread I just posted a reply I got from the info-mail about
  15. Thanks! I locked the old poll (I thought the results would still be visible to all, but nope...), but here are the results from the old one: [attachment file=14640] So please, those who haven't noticed the new poll, go vote there! E.g. I notice that no US-votes have been re-entered in the new poll.
  16. Just got a reply from the dev team regarding pricing, shipping and keyboard layouts: I asked the following: 1) Is it really true that EU-prices are including VAT and the only extra cost will be shipping? 2) How much the shipping to Sweden would be? 3) If I should order now or not in regards to those extra/additional keyboard layouts (i.e. non US QWERTY) This was their reply: [attachment file=14635] My follow up question was then to ask them to clarify then if it is really unnecessary to pre-order now then, if one only wants a Scandi-Qwerty layout. Still waiting for respo
  17. Just as a quick note: FINLAND and SWEDEN uses the same keyboard. Just saying. :P Finland is always so neglected in these kinds of discussions. #FinlandMattersToo :D
  18. And just to make everything clear: FINLAND and SWEDEN uses identical keyboards. :D (Finland is usually always neglected in these kinds of discussions... Just saying. #FinlandMattersToo. )
  19. Apparently I cannot edit a poll that has already gotten responses. Here's a link to the new poll with SWISS and US International options. But then everyone has to re-vote. Moderator, could you please edit the link in my original post to the new one, but still keep this post to explain what has happened? Thanks! NEW POLL: http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=5cd98900e4b01977b196d014 Also, why the hell are there multiple US and UK keyboard layouts? WHY?
  20. Yeah, I am not neglecting that they have a lot to do. They obviously do. But on the other hand, two weeks on the forum, and also reading some elder forum posts, they havent been very responsive. Because even if they arent crowd funding, for such a niche product as this, I believe it could be good to stay in regular contact. E.g. my pre-order decision is much based on potential shipping costs and also on what keyboard layouts they will offer in the end. Anyway, I hope you are correct and that they will get more in touch when things have calmed down.
  21. Go here to find a poll on what keyboard type you wish for! https://www.fxtec.com/forums/topic/poll-what-keyboard-layout-do-you-want/
  22. As an indirect continuation on this discussion (https://www.fxtec.com/forums/topic/alternative-layouts/), here is a poll for investigating the actual demand on different keyboard layouts: [EDIT: New link, please vote again, see this post below] http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=5cd98900e4b01977b196d014 Please only fill in one reply per person! To the devs: You are welcome!
  23. It might just be me, but for an indie project like this one, it would really be nice to see some more activity and input/responses from the devs themselves every now and then. I read in the support sub-forum about a lot of issues with e.g. the pre-orders and yet no response from the devs. I also sent a couple of questions to the devs via their info-email, but has not received any replies. If this was some big, self-centered company I could understand this behavior, but for small indie-devs and projects like this I think it is crucial that there is a tight communication between the devs and
  24. No they dont have to accept the new one. The paragraph example I wrotr said they can either choose to cancel or accept the US type. But yeah, first step now would be for fxtec to properly investigate the actual interest in different layouts. The reason for why it would be good if they added the choice in the pre order section, is because not all who pre orders can be bothered to come to the forums. I have been following this phone for a while, but it took me until 1.5 weeks ago to actually register and jump onto the forum.
