@EskeRahn Just did a test with the voltmeter. Got this readout. But I just tried another reflash and got a different result from the flasher, as per the other pic. The fact that this has happened is a little more encouraging.
-
@EskeRahn I should be receiving my voltmeter in the next couple of days. Let you know what my findings are. No response from FxTec as yet, but I did get a reply from Clove Technologies asking me to keep them updated on this.
-
Well, it was worth a try. But alas it didn't work 😥 Thanks for all the assistance guys, none the less. I'll see what FxTec come back with with regards to a return & repair.
-
Going to give it a try. Let you know how it goes soon. 👍
-
Really? I thought that was the laptop's built in WiFi. So you think it's worth a try?
-
@netman Nothing showing in lsusb🤔
-
I'll give it a try. I very rarely use the laptop so I'm a wee bit rusty on Linux.
-
Thanks for all the help and suggestions so far guys. I'll keep trying any suggestions you make (short of opening the device up). I did try connecting the phone to my Linux laptop (ZorinOS) but it didn't even detect it.
-
OK so after clicking "Flash" the progress bar pops up briefly and then I get this:- 😒
-
Just to confirm: Is this all correct and ready to go?
-
The restore tool detected the phone so I located the firmware with the "Open" menu option then selected to try a "Dry Run" Clicked the "Flash" button then got an error saying the device could not be read. After a short while the phone disconnected itself from Windows and wouldn't reconnect. Damn frustrating. 😪

I've had a good read, but I don't think any of the first two methods would be of help, as I don't want to dismantle the phone at this stage, due to the warranty. The last method needs the phone to actually turn on and display the Fx logo. I'm not getting that even with both volume buttons held and the power button pressed.
-
Thanks Pebert. I'll give it a looksee. But doesn't the phone need to be powered up to perform a factory reset?
-
Okey dokey. Here's an update on my shenanigans. After digging about I found this in Windows after plugging the phone in via USB. But can't do nothing with it except check the "Properties" .

You mean one of these thingumajigs? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Type-C-USB-Tester-Voltmeter-Ammeter-Voltage-Current-Detector-Meter-Multimeter/383724510306?hash=item5957c35c62:g:lU4AAOSwv9pfYye1

You know, when you're blasting down the motorway at 70-80mph and you see a solitary sneaker stuck in the middle of the fast lane, nothing else, just this one sneaker. And you think "Dammit man! What's the rest of your life like?" 🤥😂 Well, that's me where phones are concerned at the moment. 🤥 My Sailfish Xperia died last month during an update, so I'm back to using my trusty old Jolla 1 with my Aquafish on standby. Just in case. 😉

Damn thing! Was just getting used to using a hardware keyboard again. 🙄 There isn't any life from the caps lock light either. I'll keep trying once in a while until I get a reply from the guys at Fxtec.

Pressing the power button does nothing. I've held the button in for over 5 minutes. The battery had around 75% charge at the time of it shutting down. When the charger is plugged in there's no LED. It should at least light up red to indicate the phone is charging, even while it's turned off. The last thing I did with the phone was to check the time of the bus over mobile data. I had made 2 calls and received 1 prior to that as well as checked emails. Now it's deader than a dead thing.
-
Yeah, I've seen seen between 9 - 13 days standby times reported by Kaspersky Battery Monitor. Worth a try to leave it for a week or two.
-
I'd rather not whilst it's still in warranty.
-
The strange thing is, I had just used it on mobile data to check for bus times, boarded the bus then opened the case and there was nothing there. Kept trying to restart it then swapped the sim out into my Jolla 1. I then used mobile data on the Jolla, to check delivery of an Ebay purchase, then the Jolla died, but that restarted again and is still working fine.

Yeah, tried that one too. It's as the proverbial dodo. 😥
-
Tried the PC first, then plugged it into the wall. Been plugged in for about an hour now. 🤔
-
Yup. Using both Pro1 charger and original cable. PC doesn't even pick it up when I connect it. Fired off an email to support, see what happens.
-
Well, ain't that fine and dandy? My Pro1 has just died☠️😫. There's no life in it whatsoever, doesn't even pick up the charger cable being plugged in. Looks like an email to Support and hope for the best I suppose. Unless someone here has any ideas.
