Just for the record, I recently ordered a display assembly from Fxtec and it took only a few days to arrive from the UK (Fedex made me pay import fees, though, if I remember correctly). If they still have them in stock in the UK, you might get lucky.
I would check with FxTec to see if they have any understanding of what the problem might be. You can also find out if they can sell you a replacement screen and get it to you.
It will be extra work, but you can get a replacement screen (without the frame, so you will have to remove the old display from the frame and attach the new one) for pretty cheap from AlieExpress. Here is a link that has been working lately (there are different shops and some may have them and some may not) :

If people want to avoid the camerabutton launching the stock camera app AND they want to use a different app (e.g. open camera), a way to avoid accidental launches would be to simply disable the default camera app
