You're obviously talented. I can't do that single-handed half a year into using the phone 🙂. I did stop training after the Pro1 almost jumped out of my hand once.
Congrats on your purchase. This user forum naturally tends to over-emphasise the problems of the Pro1. All-in-all, it is a quite solid phone. While there certainly are devices with significant manufacturing flaws, I suspect they are a very small minority.
I really wonder if they changed the hinge mechanism along the way because I have never owned anything like a Pro1 before and when I got it I could easily open it and now I can easily open it with one hand.

Besides, Pro1x owners have a decent chance of owning a phone with a usable camera and fully licensed Android support. Unlike current owners who can forget about ever receiving a decent upgrade to their camera software or official Android OS. Don't forget, we're running Android 9. And with all the necessary redesign needed to get the 662 up and running, current Pro1 owners can go 🖕🏾 themselves. At least, that's what I expect from FxTec-development regarding the Pro1.To quote a great Dutch soccer (which I hate, not the player)) player; "every disadvantage has its advantage" 😶.
I'm afraid of that too, they couldn't even update the Pro1 frequently even before all this and now they would need to do work on two phones, I'm not optimistic.

It's interesting, but it seems a little pricey for what it is. I'm eagerly waiting for your review.

- NEW (or newly noticed): lately the thing that annoys me is that when hitting the power button or the fingerprint sensor, it takes too long for the screen to turn on. Often I assume I didn't actually trigger it, and hit the power button *again* and that gets queued up and turns the screen *off* instead.
That annoys me too. My previous two phones were really quick in that regard. I just placed my finger on the fingerprint sensor and they were unlocked and ready to use instantly. On the Pro1 there is a really noticeable delay which causes the behavior you describe.

Thank you for your flexibility and help in organizing the pickup @josefkubes

I've never observed any phone get very warm during navigation usage while plugged in. And I have done it quite a lot. For a couple years this was the main way my phone got charged every day, during my commute to work and back. I have never done this with the Pro1, but I cannot imagine it would be any different. Certainly it should not get warm enough to thermal throttle.
Try a Moto Z 😄 My Moto Z not only got hot enough to throttle, but it turned itself off because it overheated while using navigation and charging it at the same time. When I tried to turn it back on the aluminum housing almost burned my fingers. Probably didn't help that it was summer and no AC in the car. But the Moto Z can get very hot easily.

If nobody buys it in the next 2-3 weeks I might be interested but I can't promise anything at the moment.

Thanks, that clears it up!
So what we'd now need would be someone who can say more on the subject 🙂 – anyone?
I'd really like to use LineageOS when I get my phone, but unfortunately SafetyNet is a must, as I rely on at least two apps which need it – one is a health related app, the other is my bank's app without which I cannot even log in to their banking website on my PC anymore. (Yes, and this is not even one of the flashy new Fintech startups, it's a bank with some history...)
This is my problem as well. I want to use the Pro1 for work and banking and a lot of apps required for those will not work without SafetyNet. And seeing @tdm's fantastic work on LineageOS, fixing all the issues that bothered me in the stock ROM, I'm leaning towards using LineageOS more and more but only if SafetyNet can work somehow.

Great idea! I'd like to try one before buying it in a few months.

Maybe a similar official fix could be included in an update by F(x)tec?

I think it may be also useful to know the normal keyboard typing speeds for each person as well to have a more complete picture about the speed difference between normal and phone keyboard typing. When I had to type a lot my max was around 100 WPM on a normal keyboard, nowadays I'm happy if I reach 85 WPM. I don't think I'll be able to do ten fingers typing on the Pro1, my fingers are not that tiny but we'll see in a few months.

Would be really interesting to see one with fine fingers do full ten fingers typing on it on a table!! Any takers? Any of the ladies? @sequestris ?
If someone is willing to send me a phone, I'll try 😄

Mine does the same thing, maybe a little bit less than yours, difficult to say. I would say there is nothing to worry about, a little play is normal to prevent the mechanism from jamming or the parts from rubbing against each other.
Probably nothing to worry about but there are people who doesn't have this problem so it seems that it's possible to assemble the phone in a way that it doesn't wobble when closed. It might not worth the effort for F(x)tec to make sure every phone is free of this problem but it sure makes the phone feel higher quality when there is no play when closed.

You have quite literally killed the joke.
Any who, i'm looking forward to a full tear down of the device.
I was under the impression that gorilla glass is supposed to be impervious to most drops.
I think Gorilla Glass 3, which the Pro1 is using is more scratch is resistant, the focus on withstanding drops came in a later version of Gorilla Glass.

But to be on topic a little, I'm still not sure if I would want a case for the Pro1. Of course I would like to protect it because it will be the most expensive phone I ever had but I'm not sure if I want to sacrifice the ability to quickly open it whenever I want or spoil the looks of the device with a bulky case.

Not sure it would increase the production cost much but definitely design time will.
Yes, it requires a lot more thought in the design, especially if you want to keep it easily serviceable too. And keeping water tightness after a repair might be an issue as well. Probably the parts that are required to achieve full water tightness are also more expensive and you have to be a lot more precise during assembly as well. Not to mention the testing. If you advertise something as waterproof you need to test if it really is, and that would be a few extra steps in an already complex manufacturing process.
I'm guessing F(x)tec still have a lot on their plates with solving the issues of the current design and manufacturing process but maybe they could design the next version with this in mind.

I just want to share that i have Galaxy note 8 which is water proof but it has the 3.5 jack and sim slot.
I have seriously tested it while on a trip to iguassu falls where under the water fall with heavy water drooping i took many photos and phone had no issues.
my point is that having 3.5 doesnt makes it impossible to be water proof
True. Technically, even phones like the Pro1 could be made waterproof but it would probably increase the costs a lot.

7. Honestly: what do you use your phone for that needs more performance? I agree that a newer processor would have been better in terms of being future proof. Then again the electronics world is changing so fast, that being really future proof is next to impossible. The 835 works just fine for whatever I use my phone (music, some gaming, videos, programs such as RDP).
That's what I'm still wondering too. I still use the original MotoZ which has worse specs than the Pro1 and I have never had problems with the performance. I understand that for a phone in this price range people would expect newer hardware but in reality I don't feel that it will cause any usability problems for me in the next few years.

And such an app will disconnect the charger for you? Or will you have to wake up in the middle of the night to unplug it?
Sadly I don't think that any app can have control over the charging. I only ever saw charge level limiting feature on the MotoZ phones when they were charged by the attached battery mod through the Moto Mod connector.

Slider keyboard seems to keep in the open state even when closed. I think it is hardware failure.

It seems I have a similar issue, I might have to do the same. Also charging only works if the cable is at a certain angle.
