I think we need clack videos and gifs to get back to what matters and really interests everyone. Anyone with a Pro1, please, now is the time.

I don't want to argue on the wording, you are right that they are accountable for the errors or delays of contractors, and as such they broke a promise. What is more important to me is to what extent, and whether they are being dishonnest or not. I believe they are not, even though communication could sometimes be more transparent.
On that topic, however, for all we know they are very few people in the company, and none is 100% focusing on communication (Erik is not there only to post on the forum, and even their Twitter account seems to be partly externalized). Employees are most likely working on multiple tasks, of which communication is the only one we see. With the delays and hold backs obviously indicating issues to improve, maybe it's good to remember communication might be light because they are very busy handling more pressing matters. It's not ideal, but it could certainly be worse if communication were prioritized over logistic tasks.

It's entirely possible that they did not break the promise, but that the few people who got a unit without an IGG coupon (as far as I know we're talking about less than 4 or 5 people so far) were selected testers/developpers/commited community members + the result of limited qwertz units + a few errors as stated.
I have no information whatsoever and I don't know if people were selected and upgraded, so please don't quote me out of context without this second paragraph, but it would not be shocking. Of course it would not hurt to communicate if that is the case, but if this really concerns a handful of people, I don't think this should be considered as a significant deviation from the promised plan. As for errors, they happen, and Fxtec acknowledged them themselves.
The production is slower than initially expected, very true. But it is in part due to suppliers and third-party partners, so however frustrated we may be, I think we need to be careful before concluding Fxtec are being dishonnest. The people managing the regional warehouses and handling shipping labels are probably not even Fxtec employees, but more likely external contractors more or less following their instructions.
I understand your frustration if you actually are IGG backer #26, perhaps it's due to one of those errors. What would help is knowing in advance if they can fix it by putting you in the next batch.

I fail to extract the .tar.xz on my Jolla C. Are there any instructions somewhere? I'm not setting my hopes too high for the Jolla C, but I know someone who can test on the XA2 too.

@zurvan2, just to make sure I understood, you haven't found a way to get out of the pin issue even when completely reflashing from scratch? Since you seem to be stuck anyway, it might be worth trying the SFOS port. It would tell us if the issue is with Android or the flashing, and it may be a way to make your phone functional. Of course it's an alpha port, but it works and perhaps you'll like the OS (if it even boots).

I plan on customizing my layout on Sailfish a little, hopefully to get something closer to us-intl for accents and other international characters (though I probably won't compensate for the shifted layout, as it would make it too different from the key labels), but one of the first things I'll do is invert ? and /. Shift shift instead of caps lock would be nice too, not sure if this can be done.

Clearly this issue needs to be looked into. Many people will take advantage of the unlocked bootloader, but if there is no recovery or if the phone asks for a pin code upon reset, we have a problem. @Erik, @Waxberry?

Awesome, thanks to you and the author for sharing this. I rarely read TJC and missed it. Can't wait to try it.

Same for me. :> It may take longer because of strikes in my country though.

Not really. There's been ordernumbers circulating with 5 digits.
Exactly. This is why I said that, I wanted to give the range in which mine is. We know order numbers are not the main factor anyway, so there is no point in trying to sort them much more accurately.

Your order number?
It's a 4-digit number.

I got my tracking number (EU, second batch). Thanks F(x)tec!

Woot! Awesome, thanks a lot.
9 minutes ago, Erik said:EU stock arrived in the warehouse today. We are just waiting on the warehouse to ship them out now. Tracking will be sent any minute today, or on Monday if the warehouse is too busy.
Hell, I'll take the Eurostar and come help them myself if they want. No tea time for them today! 😉
Actually transporters usually work on Saturdays, so that'd be great if the warehouse managed to ship some boxes today.
Also, just to clarify before someone misinterprets: the stock that arrived at the UK warehouse is the EU part of the second batch, not the third, at least that's my understanding.

Great, thanks. Then I'll be able to fiddle around with my Pro¹ and SFOS as soon as it arrives without the need to properly create my own backup first.

That satisfaction face à 8'20'' after some getting used to is quite what makes me so eagerly looking forward to receiving mine. You look like "Alright I was wrong boy, now we're talking."
This is the second time I post this in a different thread (the thread about people who received their phone) and see it appear in this one. I'm confused. The first time, I thought it was my mistake, but i carefully checked the second time. Is it a known bug?

I will definitely keep a copy yes, and I'm sure other in the community will too, so we should always have a copy somewhere for the long term.

Just to clarify - I meant users who got "stock assigned" mails. Sorry for misunderstanding
No, not yet. Until further notice by Erik, the safest guess is to assume the EU part of the second batch is still in transit to their regional warehouse. Erik mentioned earlier this week that it was due to arrive at their UK warehouse yesterday, so either it did arrive and F(x)tec are currently processing the shipping labels and tracking numbers (which undoubtedly takes some time), or they are still waiting for the warehouse delivery. The transit of this part of the batch is taking unusually long compared to the APAC part or to the first batch (except US part) though, I hope everything is going well with it.

Yes, I later found that thread too, thanks. If I understand correctly, I don't need to make any backup of the Pro¹ when I get it because everything necessary to restore the factory state is already in files that I can download, right?

Interesting, thanks.

Because it makes me horribly sad. Each morning I'm telling myself "Today is the day you'll get your tracking number", and then each evening I wander lonely in the back of my garden to cry a bit.

That's usually how it works for pretty much everything else, I think. At least in Europe I never saw a warranty tied to a person rather than the device itself. Am I wrong?

Just to make sure I got it right: when I receive my Pro¹, I do not need to make a backup before trying to flash SFOS, because the files to restore the Pro¹ to factory state are available for download elsewhere, right?
Also, has anyone tried the procedure with µSD cards larger than 32 GB? Mine is 128 GB, formatted to ext4, not sure that'll work.

But there is a SFOS port that looks quite advanced already. There are still open issues, but I'll install it as soon as I find a way to make a backup of the factory state of the Pro1.

Well, I thought it was clear I just meant with a light tone that this thread is not the right place to argue on lawyer terms either. I guess I'll stick to the real core topic, it would be a shame to dilute the dense and non-speculative production information being posted since 87 pages.
