Order #141xx, Got my tracking info (from FedEx), estimated delivery Jan 29th. I'm in Seattle.

I'd suspect they may have had a few reseller contracts that they were going to get hammered on if they didn't deliver by Christmas. Not great for us in the pre-order queue, but understandable if they had to divert some stock to avoid getting hammered. And an alternate route for the impatient as we see here.

One of the niceties of devices that originally ship with Oreo or later (Pie in the case of the Pro1) is that they full benefit from the work done for Project Treble to standardize the OS devices driver interface on Android. This means that porting new Android versions will be much more rapid than it has been in the past.

Having participated in the bring up and readying for market of several niche Android devices, I feel it would have been a miracle if they had hit their original projection. There are always last hurdles that you'll never anticipate up front. I'm actually glad they are giving themselves some wiggle room. I want them to ship the device when it is ready, not to meet some arbitrary point on the calendar. When I placed my pre-order a couple months ago, I had already anticipated it would ship in August or September.
