Maybe it also was a thing between the specific connectors I've been using (and am still using on a lot of other devices) and the Pro1/Pro1X. Other than most other devices, like, for example, the Titan Slim phone, the connector used to have some play when inserted into the socket. With my next phone (ordered the Magic V2 from the manufacturer's shop yesterday when I saw they have a 300 € discount right now) or when I get one of the Fxtec phones back to use, I'll try to make sure to use a connector that fits tightly... I've been daily driving my Pocket since September and it has not failed me once, phone-wise. Callers can actually hear me--who knew! That said, the square screen can make some internet sites difficult and I'm actually drifting to the idea of a Slim because I stink at typing regardless of the kb and the Slim's rectangular display would probably be an easier thing when browsing. I imagine we will all end up with foldable phones. I've yet to trust the current hardware, but it's bound to become standard. As usual, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Burkhard 2 Posted August 22 Share Posted August 22 Hello, after our whole family (4) had to put their BB key2 away, the bank app no longer works, Android 8.1, we looked for an alternative with a keyboard. My wife has the Titan Slim and I have to say, it's very similar to the BB. I ended up with the Pro1x. I actually just want a keyboard phone with normal Android. And the Titan Slim is fine. The battery lasts a long time and you quickly get used to the keyboard. I can recommend it. I still have to get used to my Pro1x, but we'll get used to it. I actually want my BB back. Turns out that after using the big screen with an on-screen keyboard for some time, which surely was better than a normal phone, I like the Titan's keyboard more than did before. It's still a major nuisance that the app I'm typing in keeps being swapped into the background every time I inadvertently touch even just the border of the fingerprint sensor + home button, and it's still some nuisance that I don't get all characters I frequently need from the keys, and of course it's a tiny portrait orientation keyboard, not a full-width landscape orientation one, but otherwise I'm actually a little bit happier than used to be when I used the Slim before. Even though it must be something like ten times slower than the Honor... (As I have no information yet where the Honor's repair is going, I'll be continuing to use the Slim for how long it takes.) Hi, Rob The two annoyances you mention can both be quite easily fixed! For the home / fingerprint sensor, you simply need to alter the setting for it to require a double-tap to go Home. Sorts the problem completely and permanently, and you get to appreciate fully a fingerprint sensor that in my view is the best I've come across (even works with a damp thumb!). To get a fully-featured keyboard with all sorts of extended characters, proper multilanguage support and all sorts of useful extra features, all you need do is download the Blackberry keyboard software: it completely revolutionises the Slim keyboard's functionality! Instructions for how to do both of these things are near the beginning of this thread - I'm a complete numpty and even I worked out how to do it. Anyway, for me, after about 10 weeks of using the Titan Slim (modified as above!), I have to say it has won me over! Of course it's not perfect: the screen is a little on the small side for somebody in denial about needing reading glasses, the keyboard is not bad but not as good as the Keys 1 and 2 were, and the camera is mediocre (though Open Camera helps, including giving HDR capability). However, I actually greatly prefer the classic Blackberry-esque form factor with the smaller keyboard (as against a slider or similar), I like its physical feel and heft, and its generally robust feel (touch wood!), and overall it is very easy to use, with so many of the sorts of shortcuts to streamline your working that I was used to from Blackberry. While the lack of SD card slot made some bits of the setting-up process a but slower, that and the lack of a headphone jack aren't really issues to speak of, for me. Frankly, for the price I paid, and the fact that it was an emergency stopgap purchase made in a hurry when my Key2 stopped working and there was no sign of my Pro1X, it's vastly exceeded expectations and I'm expecting to be relying on it for the foreseeable future! 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
