  1. First testprint made last night. I've split the bottom up in 2 parts to figure out how well the fit is. there is some slight (2mm) missalignment of the buttons and usb-c header and the camera placement is slightly off. I can now properly add the chamfer which is about 1.5mm (eyeballed, stil got to measure that tonight) and correct these errors. I expect the next version to be a perfect tight fit. from thereon I can start designing the mold and order some silicone to give it a try. @EskeRahn I will try to add a slight "edge" to the top of the cover to latch on the phone. There is some room to realize this (about 1mm). For the headphone and usb-c connectors I will likely go for an "open" approach. considering the line between the top/bottom on these is so thin that it would likely not last long anyways. as extra benefit it will be easier to get fitting connectors while the enclosure is around the phone. Also, would you guys prefer the buttons to be covered and the silicone to protect these (makes them tougher to click). Or would you prefer an open design around them with direct reach to the original buttons? p.s. Once this design is fully done I will offer the files in .STL and .STEP free of charge so anyone can print/use them if they want to πŸ˜„.
  2. Yes I will eventually, starting with the bottom part. once that one is working as intended I will start on the top part πŸ‘.
  3. The chamfer is about 1-2mm. Right now I have taken the most outer dimension. Once I remove 1mm from that the silicone will fill in the empty space considering it will be stretched "over" it. +1 for the great photo btw!
  4. Just finished a quick sketch of the bottom part of the protective cover: Will run a test print tonight to get first dimensions with hard plastic to see how the shell fits, then adjust and further develop. The plan is that the fit should be about 0.5-1mm too tight. That way silicone will grab itself onto the enclosure :). The holes for the switches are temporary for allignment, on the end design these will be filled in with silicone aswell, that way the entire bottom is enclosed and the rockers will go slightly heavier from pressing the silicone layer between them.
  5. Thanks for the quick response. In that case I will draw one out from scratch with my caliper when I have the time πŸ™‚ or perhaps @Erik knows someone at F(x)Tec who is willing to share a 3d model of the outer shell of the Pro1?😏
  6. The first test molds will be transparant to make sure it all is a good fit. After that I will likely only produce them in black unless there is alot of interest in other colors (Every one of them will be produced at home and I do it purely as a hobby 😁.
  7. That I cannot answer yet, considering it all depends on how well the mold works out and the wear/tear on it. I dont own a vacuum chamber currently so when pouring I have to pour very slow to prevent a buildup on air bubbles. Once I got the first casts done I can give more information on how many I can produce on daily base next to my day job πŸ˜„
  8. @Keyahnig I was planning to draw a 3d printed design for the Pro1. Do you happen to have the files in Fusion360 format (.STEP or other), I would love to customize it and see if I can make a decent mold for it to pour them out of silicone. If that works out properly I might be able to do a "small production" run on those for who needs a bumper 😁.
  9. The review I wrote for the Pro1, I never write reviews and it's in Dutch so be aware πŸ™‚ : https://tweakers.net/productreview/228910/f(x)tec-pro1.html
  10. I would like to recommend two camera apps that I have used on many phones before. Just installed it on my Pro1 and everything works flawlessly, even capturing in RAW format works like a charm: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro // for photocamera usage https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.cinema.pro // for filming Both Camera FV-5 and Cinema FV-5 work and the photo quality seems very nice. RAW/JPG format is too large to add here, but i added a shot with resized JPG output, pixel size is 3000x4000px on the original.
  11. +1 for this feature, most of the times I grab my phone it shows "too many attempts" and I still have to manually unlock. Just grabbing the phone from my pocket or holding it in my right hand makes my palm touch the sensor and fail the attempts. Enable after the display is On would be the perfect fix for me.
  12. Some pages ago during December I requested a refund for preorder, and decided to wait till FxTec could actually deliver. Everything has been processed in a friendly and timely manner :-). What I can also tell is that I bought a Pro1 from a friend who had a preorder with IGG. He received the phone last week and found it to large as his daily driver. So since yesterday evening I am now the owner of a Pro1! I can tell you all it is worth the wait. Yes the phone has pro's and cons which I will describe later in the "Independent reviews" topic. For all who are curious, S/N is 000211.
  13. I set a hard deadline that if my phone would not be shipped by christmas I would cancel my pre-order. Sadly this has become reality and I have just send out my cancellation (hey, thats 1 phone closer in queue for someone else on the listπŸ˜„). With the newly stated delivery date (end of January), utter lack of transparency from Fxtec concerning delays, order priority and a true number on how many phones have been produced by now, I can no longer put my trust in them. I wish the company all the best and hope they manage to get everything sorted out eventually. Hopefully they will learn that their slogan "Function is Key" should also include "Communication is key" cause that is the main reason they have lost me. Once the phone hits the general market I will reconsider on buying it. @Erik Thanks for doing your best at keeping everyone on the forums informed. It's a shame that you seem to be the only person from F(x)tec who seems to be genuinely interested in their customers.
  14. I just received the same email on my request for an update. Also: So as an early preorder who payed the moment the payment mail arrived, I am not in the second batch either. I have been quiet for a long time giving FxTec the benefit of the doubt as a startup company, however if my order will not arrive before Christmas that is once again another promise broken and another month of delay. Going back in my email archive, the mail from Fxtec send 5th of September 2019: That is a 3 month delay to the original shipping plans where all pre order customers would likely have their phones shipped at the end of September. Now I can fully understand that in manufacturing things go wrong and delays occur. This is no excuse for the sparse communication from Fxtec and has put a serious dent in my trust😞. There is a point where you can no longer keep telling your customers that their shipping date is delayed again a few weeks (or even days in some cases here) before they would expect their phones. For me, I am going to wait till Christmas hoping for a fair explanation to how this keeps happening time after time and how Fxtec is planning to prevent this to happen again. If there is no fair answer after this date I might be cancelling on this phone considering this is starting to feel like Zeno's paradox and by the time the the finish is reached the price vs specs doesn't justify it anymore😟. So, back to another 22 days of waiting for me...
  15. Order #6164 here from The Netherlands. Payed 5 minutes after receiving the email (July 31, 2019) and received a confirmation on July 31, 15:19. No email about stock assigned so far, my order is still on processing 😞. [edit] Just decided to send out an email to support for an update on my order. Lets see if I can get any information from there [/edit]
