I do like how that case in the video (for the Nokia) wraps around the corners and seems to provide substantial protection. I wonder if it comes up higher than the eges of the screen.

Personally, I am not a fan of that style of case, but I can see the advantage for a phone that has an unprotected screen. It would also work well for women keeping the phone in their purse. On that twitter thread, someone mentioned Sugru. I hadn't heard about it before. It is moldable glue that turns into a type of silicone rubber when it cures. There might be a way to use that to raise the edges of the provided f(x)tec case and/or add some bumpers to the corners of the curved screen. Unless someone can come up with a way to make a separate snap on case for the screen or a case that

abowers - Well put! That’s what they’ve got now that sub-6 inch are illegal... Ha! -
I wonder if their idea of a "case" is something for protecting the phone or if it is for transporting the phone. At least it is something.

EskeRahn, Good find! Do you have a picture of the case??

There are other companies that make things that you stick on the back of the phone and that either snaps into the piece on the belt or includes the whole belt clip too. Universal holder with quick mount The problem with that approach is that the screen faces outward without any protection. I broke the screen twice on my T-Mobile G2 (HTC Desire Z/HTC Vision) while getting into the car, when it hit the seat belt latch. The belt holster sold by T-Mobile for the Galaxy S Relay 4G (SGH-T699) had the phone facing toward the body, with the screen being protected by the piece of plastic

I didn't see a keyboard on either of those phones on the page you linked to. It would be nice if a major carrier approaches them and wants to sell the phone through their website too. The more they sell, the better chance there will be of future phones from them or others and more choices for consumers. I am still on the edge (no pun intended). I am trying to convince myself. The reality is that I will need some way to protect the phone when being transported and either be extremely careful not to drop it when using it or hope that some way materializes for a case to be purchased fo

I posted a reply, but after I edited it, it won't show up anymore on my end and it won't let me repost it, because it thinks it is a duplicate. :-)

Has the designer ever stated that the angle is so the phone can be used like a computer keyboard when sitting on a table? Is that what the were aiming for with the angled screen? Thanks for the pictures, EskeRahn. I missed the 155 degree information at the top of the specifications page. It does look like about 25 degrees and that would match with the 155 degrees that they mention. Not as bad as 45 degrees. Not as good as 10-15 degrees would have been (or flat for those of us who prefer that).

Coming from a Relay 4G, I would have preferred a flat slider too. I'm hoping it won't affect holding it well and won't make me have to hold the keyboard at a odd angle to view the screen perpendicular to my line of sight. As bob3k wrote, it does look like a minor angle, so hopefully it won't be a big issue. I'm trying to remember if the sidekicks had a slight tilt to the screen. For some reason I'm thinking my Sidekick 3 and Sidekick 2008 phones had a slight tilt. Those had *the* best keyboard of any phone I've ever owned or tested. The way they were rounded up and the spacing betwee

Florian, I agree. A removable battery is another huge consideration. The batteries often only last a couple years. Keeping a rare, keyboard phone functioning for a long period of time requires being able to replace the battery *somehow*. I'm guessing this will involve a special procedure and a lot of risk for this phone, but when the battery goes, people will have to start resorting to risky options. Until the industry wakes up and provides the type of modularity that made IBM PCs and clones so successful (and less wasteful), we need phones that we can keep alive for a long time. Go -

EskeRahn, I disagree. People for whom screen size is a main consideration aren't going to buy this phone because it has a larger screen. The target market of this phone is people who want physical keyboards. I believe there is an overlap of people who want physical keyboards and people who do not want extra large screens. A smaller screen is more functional, because it can be transported easier and held easier for typing. The answer to bezels making the phone wider is to use a less wide screen. People who want bigger screens can buy a tablet or another phablet phone. People who w -

The blog about the screen states: "We also chose a curved-edge screen to match the shape & contours of the main body. It’s important the device looks slick & feels comfortable at the same time!" The website homepage and video states: "Function is key" The whole point of this phone should be function. A curved edge screen is not a functional feature. It is a liability. A keyboard phone isn't going to convince all the iPhone (and similar) users of the world to buy it. It is for people who have used a keyboard phone in the past and understand how it is functionally better than
