Wiko WIM - no FCC filing photos that I can find, but a screenshot from a tear-down video produces a ratio of 405px : 653px (battery height : device height) and applying that to the official height of the device of 156mm gives a battery height of 96mm, so not a match.

    Samsung J6 (SMJ600FN) FCC filing photos: https://fccid.io/A3LSMJ600FN/Internal-Photos/Internal-photos-3818074

Not as clear because of lack of measurement in photos, however taking a ratio of 350px : 571px (battery height : device height) and applying that to the official height of the device of 149mm gives a battery height of 91mm, so not a match.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (SMN960F) FCC filing photos: https://fccid.io/A3LSMN960F/Internal-Photos/Internal-Photos-3888467

Height looks to be approx. 85/86mm, so not a match.

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (SMN920F) FCC filing photos: https://fccid.io/A3LSMN920F/Internal-Photos/Internal-Photographs-2675793

Height looks to be approx. 100mm, so not a match.

Sorry to rain on your parade @Adrienspawn , just don't want you to waste your time going down rabbit holes. It's a very frustrating process to find batteries that might already be in existence for this phone!

A lesser battery height is fine though. Higher would be bad. So they would all fit vertically and then the other aspect is the width/depth.

Thanks for getting the maximum dimensions of 11cm x 3.6cm. Definitely a good place to start aside from the actual connection. The rest is just lithium which we could potentially cram 4000mah given the smaller sizes being identical to our larger batteries. I'll update the OP with your dimensions and the connector labelling.

  2. Hey guys!

My battery capacity's much lower than it used to be 2-3 years ago.

Figure it'd be nice to replace but haven't been able to track down a replacement.

    Maybe something like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003209067066.html

Or from Alibaba they seem to be like 3$ each if we'd order a couple of them as a group:

    https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Battery-Standard-Gb-31241-2014-gb_300015359755.html

Hoping to get some help as this isn't my area of expertise at all, and I wasn't able to get a clear picture/dimensions of the battery and its connector.

Addendum: latest info says we are looking at approximately 11cm by 3.6cm dimensions and the connector has a label of FH-F88003B-FPC.

  3. I'm all for this.

Though there will be unintended consequences, I think there really did need to be a firm hand protecting consumers from fly-by-night operations dumping hardware and software without looking back.

5 years is maybe a bit much though. I think 3 is ok.

Especially for software, it's a crucial thing to keep up to date with regards to apps and security.

Hardware is more of a concern, but it's also understandable and a bummer when you're waiting a long time to fix a broken phone, or need to replace it very early in its life due to lack of available parts.

  4. Just to add that I'd cracked a small corner of my screen maybe a year or so ago and ordered the cheap screen from China for like 45$ CAD or so shipped. It wasn't a ton of damage though so I waited for a major reason to switch it, which was as of 3ish days ago getting a ton of random ghost touches making it type messages and send pics to people LOL no joke. So I just replaced it and wow it was so hard to remove the screen without a heat gun. Tons of glass shards still stuck and took a while to remove carefully with an xacto knife. Also the 3M adhesive was confusing but I used logic and figure its not super important to get it perfect as long as it's not covering the top speaker/camera. I have to say the colours do seem to pop more as does the brightness. Can't compare side by side but I believe subjectively it's an improvement especially while sliding the brightness up and down there's not as much ugly flickering and green tint. Still not amazing though but less bad. The other thing I'm not sure about is if I'm getting the full screen coverage as before, pixel for pixel. The OS/software seems to react differently to this display and even Instagram seems to want to set more defined boundaries for story images rather than letting them take up the full screen. However I can't complain as the images appear to be more crisp and properly displayed as far as scaling and being true to size without distortion or some elements being cropped out. Much to think about and read into. Important to note I'm running at 514 pixels wide minimum, with text at 100% and all other elements at Smallest.

TLDR: successful screen switch without the new frame, due to ghost touches, resulting in more vivid display with possible other differences. Happy camper.

Edit: also to say that initially upon replacing, it wasn't registering touches, but that I restarted it using buttons and also finished off screwing all the back screws and most importantly snapping the plastic bracket back onto the metal frame, after all of which it was then registering just fine.

Running AICP and didn't do any reset or reflash or anything at all really. Just switched screen while off.

Widevine DRM L1 will be supported.

Currently we are focusing on CTS, will try to include this feature in initial release. If not, this will be added on the first OTA update.

I must be doing something wrong in 2022 because I still have L3.

"fastboot devices" command at first didn't work with default drivers (yellow caution triangle over 'Android') but then I manually set Android to use the Google USB driver and then selected that it be seen as the Android Bootloader Interface (only possible using the DISK method and 'All Devices').

Now fastboot devices sees the device. WOOOOOOOOOOO

Correct me, if I'm wrong, but isn't it expected, that the device doesn't show up under adb devices as soon as you rebooted into fastboot mode?

At least it was that way for me today and I was still able to flash the latest Lineage version. Didn't have to unlock the bootloader as I did that previously, but the instruction here https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/pro1/install only uses adb to get to fastboot mode and continues with fastboot commands.

    I'm almost certain you meant 2020. 😋

Ok yeah. Among the first from the preorder still.

Cant believe how difficult it is to unlock. For a techy phone especially. Usually I have an easy time. Really annoyed. I just want Windows to detect it under the bootloader... Windows. Not even Linux or Mac.

  9. No luck yet  Still undetected by ADB.

Just getting different things to show up in Device Manager...

Starting to wonder if I shouldn't use a Windows 7 device to do what needs to be done. Updating to 11 I would rather avoid since you mentioned that doesn't help.

But really it should work on Windows 10. This is ridiculous. How is everyone else unlocking their bootloader?

  10. Hi! This is driving me crazy for two days now.

I cannot seem to get an ADB connection during the Fastboot screen.

The bootloader is locked and I want to flash a new image (magisk) to unlock it.

I can only communicate with the phone when it has booted into Android and is detected with ADB devices.

I've installed Android Studio tools with even the Pie (9) stuff and Google USB drivers.

As soon as I restart it into the bootloader screen, Windows sees it as 'Android' in Device Manager instead of QX1000 and it has the yellow caution symbol.

I cannot get it to have the right drivers. Pointing it to the manually-downloaded folder of Google USB drivers leads to nothing.

I know the unique design of the phone might make making a case a difficult prospect, but I'm simply too clumsy to use a phone without one. Are there any plans to design a case?

It was supposed to come with one originally, but they shipped it with a rushed fabric sleeve instead.

Is been over a year or two now without an official peep about it, so safe to say there will not be one.

Edit: just saw that tweet from May 5th. That would be a start, but really too little too late to be teasing it when we obviously have been thirsting forever lol. 'what do to guys think' idk ship it to me and I'll let you know omg give it to meeeeeeeeee.

  12. Currently using black gorilla tape for the back so I don't feel bad setting my phone down.

Looks like absolute ass to my standards, but putting it out there as it is very easy to stick on, and has stayed on for a few days now.

Probably transparent packing tape could have worked too, dunno why I didn't think of that first. Also would prefer a hard shell but does not seem feasible for the moment.

  13. Small companies can react more swiftly and are much more nimble with regard to changing circumstances.

I know that if I had a small amount of funds, I could have quickly had someone design and manufacture cases.

They posted the prototypes of it a long time ago on Twitter, I believe they used transparent hard plastic.

So it is not a question of a wrench being thrown into their plans, simply that they picked the easier route.

  14. It is my understanding that FXtec can and did work on multiple software problems, taking responsibility for proper functioning both before and after release.

We collectively have no relation with IdeaLTE. That is up to FXtec's discretion as to what is delegated, but the responsibility has been and remains theirs.

Apart from what @VaZsoalready said. These two components are most likely super easy to change in the production line, not having to do anything else than mount a logically different chip. More drastic changes are less easy, and would most likely require changes of drivers too (and worst case some new certifications). My guess would be that they do not need to change a single line of code for the memory&storage upgrades. Perhaps a config file, if the chip does not report the size itself.

Software issues can be applied to the existing userbase of phones much more easily than replacing the hardware, and the first duty is also to fix errors rather than upgrading things that work fine. There are no known widespread RAM or system memory problems.

Would be cool with a dedicated case. But I think it is close to impossible less some compromises...

    • As can be seen in other threads, some have created their 3D-printed cases, and though this for some is an ideal solution, for others the blocking the screen edges is an issue. (But for some even a bonus!)
    • Another possibility is a flip-case. Not ideal for all either, as we (obviously) need to flip it open to use the phone. Again for some acceptable, for others not.
    • Finally is the half solution (that is part of both the above) to only protect the lower half, And though better than nothing clearly not ideal either.

The case was meant to be included with preorders and then available for purchase, so I don't think it's too much to ask that we not be relegated to 3D-printing our own ugly ones. I'm not a designer but I don't see it being difficult. My preference is for OtterBox style.
