Phew, glad you finally see this, took long enough! 😉 -Just joking! Also, it seems to me, just from what I have read here (which as I just stated isn't the entire thread), for all of those who received emails last week, they can expect an outcome. If you had a phone assigned to you in the batch that was sent out last week (which I read as the second batch, but whatever the batch number) you got a stock assigned email. If you were in the group that got the production status update email, then (again as I see it), you shouldn't expect a phone from last week's batch. If you got a stock ass

Interesting stuff! By chance do you know the dates of your 14xxx order and your followup 32xxx order?

Oh, heck yes works well with much of the PLC older DOS based programming software! I also use it regularly for EPROM/EEPROM programming, alarm panel programming, serial data stream capturing, mobile radio programming, remote control of all sorts of equipment, and much more. Very handy! Just beware that there is no external video output so you are limited to the 640x200 built in screen. It's scroll back and forth for higher resolutions, but it's just a simple 8-bit DOS CGA video system! The Priv, oh geez, don't get me started on how bad I found that keyboard. Actually, I never liked B

What do "system-as-root" and "A/B device" mean?

Without a doubt!! -
Yep sure did, which is why I said "If you..." I should have been more clear and said "check for extra fees, or whatever else." So, yes, I got it. Just seems to me like they would have had to skip large blocks of numbers.
-
Honestly, I can't even see that! If you tell us you know for certain, I'll believe you, but, in the mean time, Raksura's link showed B.X saying they were at 39215 back in the middle of October. If there are a couple thousand currently being produced, I find it difficult to believe that approximately 37,000 people put it in their shopping cart to check for extra fees. Possible yes, probable, no.

Understood! However... your irritation came across, but not in an overly aggressive, or violent way. More like just blowing off some steam. I think our world has become way too thin skinned, and I believe society would greatly benefit (overall) if everyone would just be a bit more relaxed, and not be offended by every little thing. I grew up in such a world and can promise you that it was a much better place (in this regard) than the way we are today. Anyway, back to devices, have I convinced you get to stop using Google Pay? 😉 If not, maybe we can drag silversolver in the discussion as

Got it, I didn't think they could possibly be sequential! Thanks!

Humm, sounds like we were cut from the same cloth, lol. Brave is an awesome browser! To be clear, I certainly did NOT come up with GcrApps! However, I didn't get it from you either. I've got a code buddy (he's more the software guy and I'm more the hardware guy, lol) who has been calling them that for years on end. Back when I questioned him about it, he said the same thing to me in that he didn't come up with it, but it had been an insider reference for quite some time. We used to use the phrase"Google Crapps" as in "You really need to remove all the Google Crapps from your device A

Does anyone know for sure that the invoice numbers are in a one to one correlation to the amount of phones being produced. Meaning that if they are now in, say the 25 thousands (hypothetically 255XX) and guys like Zimeon have 85XX, does that really mean they have orders for 17,000+ phones? I wish them well and hope it's true, but I can't image there is that kind of immediate demand. My assumption would be that they skipped a bunch of numbers to separate groups, but I don't have a clue so I thought I would ask if any knows...?

Thanks, but, at my end, I don't see anything to be sorry for (actually I enjoyed your passion). Just that we are all comfortable at different levels of messing around with hardware and software. For me, the numerous advantages to dumping the seemless updates outweigh the (what I see as) minor reflashing headaches.

Most definitely, I couldn't agree more! More of the additional benefits available with an EDL flash.

Correct.

What do "system-as-root" and "A/B device" mean?
Polaris replied to netman's topic in General Discussion
I think the "that" which you are originally referring to was about the device being system as root. I for one would much rather not have the recovery embedded in the boot partition! Also, as for TWRP it most certainly creates safe spaces. -
As I understand it, batches 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 were on the ship. However, the phones which float back up to the surface will be returned to Hong Kong for redistribution via alternate means. Although this will considerably delay the phones getting to you, there's nothing to worry about because they are still on track for Christmas delivery. 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉😉 Sorry I couldn't resist. 😈

Lol, yeah good, I like it. ...or start developing, that might go over better with the guys in London. 🙂

SteffenWi: To each their own. No worries here! If you don't want to fiddle around with copper wires, then don't. I'm very comfortable doing so as I have done much embedded work where flashing required using BDM/SWD. Also, it's worth noting that there are many other benefits to axing the A/B seemless update format (the extra 4 Gb is just part of it, and I'll gladly take it). I block OTA updates anyway as I much prefer sideloading them. Oh, and as it being the way of the future, I'll agree; however, we part company at the point where one believes that, just because some big tech company ha

Nice!! I've got both 14.1 and 13.0 both installed. The reason for this is that I have a proprietary BT device that needs the LOS12 drivers (before they got jacked up in 13 and 14). I can't create a 14.1 package with the v12 drivers, but I can with 13.0. Also, have you played with any of the safestrap versions that allow access to the factory partitions (e.g. webtop)? With the limited memory it's a pretty neat way to go as long as you don't want to install GcrApps.

Very cool! I have millions of strands of copper wire over here and very steady hands. 😀👍

Having not yet placed an order and having an order number at 30xxx (or whatever), I'm not planning on holding my breath! I still use a Droid4 (yes, I can already hear all the gasps) so as long as it's available with a reasonably stable custom ROM by Jan 2021 (when we'll be screwed into using, errr... I mean transitioned over to, VoLTE) I've got a whole year. Heh! [Feet up as I enjoy typing this on my ancient, but still very usable, tactile QWERTY keyboard]
-
By the way, and I should have posted this first... Thank you tdm for all your hard work in getting LOS to work on the Pro1. I'm interested in a Pro1, but will only use it when a custom ROM is available. Thus, I have been patiently waiting for this to come to fruition. Might very well be time to place an order as it appears I'll get it by Christmas (-JUST KIDDING! On the Christmas part, not kidding on placing an order).
-
Amen! A good thought at that! As much as I like the idea of axing the A/B configuration, it's DEFINITELY not because I would want to install GcrApps/GspyApps. Amazing how many people claim they are so concerned about security and privacy then let big tech into just about every minute of their lives. To each their own, but don't count me in that (mislead) bunch.

Now we are talking! I'm all for it! The EDL flash doesn't scare me one bit.
