Slion 1,201
What are your recommendations for text and code editors on Android?
cube48 51
Termux running emacs although it has steep learning curve it does much more than text editing. In the past I've used Turbo Editor. Edited January 26, 2020 by cube48

cube48 51
How about termux running emacs running evil-mode? 😉 Edited January 25, 2020 by cube48 1
Rob. S. 1,664
Ha! Didn't even know of that one yet. Excellent! 🙂
netman 1,424
I'm in the termux+vim camp, but for an actual android app that normal people may like I think Markor is worth a recommend:https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.gsantner.markor/https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.gsantner.markor&hl=en (Not a code editor, but plaintext and rich text as Markdown format) Edited January 26, 2020 by netman
EskeRahn 5,471
@Slion, if everyone did like you and made a new thread on any thing they wondered or wished, without even doing a search first, this forum would quickly become an unusable mess. Or require a huge number of moderators finding and merging stuff..... 3

Doktor Oswaldo 906
While we all can agree that vim or neovim in termux is of course the superior way of text editing. There are two Issues which I like to bring in play: Is it possible to paste text from f.e. firefox to termux? Has someone else strange keys in termux? Like the `\` instead of `?`
Craig 1,435
I had noticed the similar issues in Termux until somebody mentioned in another thread it has its own keymap file. (Forgot exact location of file.)

AFAIK you can paste into termux by tap'n'hold the screen as close as possible to your cursor position which opens small context menu with Paste option.

Thank you, that sucks but still better than nothing.
spam71 55
Quick Edit. It can highlight many languages. Paid version is worth its price. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.edit.pro&hl=en_US

Now that you mention it, how about a feature request to run OS/2 on the Pro¹? 😉 (Just joking – I've been an OS/2 user at home for most of the nineties, then reluctantly moved to Windows, and finally have found peace with Linux 😉)
