Pro1-X with Ubuntu Touch

Recommended Posts

Hello to the community, I have news on this subject.

I received a pro1x and I would like to know if it was possible to install ubuntu touch on this phone?

I've read a lot about making a backup of the "persist" partition but is there a guide to the different steps if this is possible?

Regarding the bugs, I'm in the process of joining ubports as a contributor to scratch my own itches and share the fixes.

I was able to install and use Ubuntu Touch on my Pro1-X after locating the fastboot images on their development server: Jobs · UBports / Porting / Community Ports / android11 / Fxtec Pro1-X / fxtec-pr

Index of /uploads/pro1x/ubuntu-touch (robinkirkman.com) There are some bugs, such as shutdown through the gui not actually shutting it down.  ("sudo shutdown -h -P now" works in a terminal)  Also

is the fastboot method still the recommeded way?

because the https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/pro1x/ page suggests using UBports installer.

How to install Ubuntu Touch OS

You can install Ubuntu Touch on this device using the UBports Installer on your computer.

Make sure your device is unlocked and has the required version of Android installed. Before installing, follow the device-specific instructions below:

  1. Please check that your device is a F(x)tec Pro1-X.
  2. Your device must be running the official version of Android 11 before installing Ubuntu Touch. With a previously installed custom ROM, it won't work!
  3. Before installing Ubuntu Touch you must unlock the bootloader of your phone manually. Follow the steps in the linked page if you haven't already. download-icon
