I ordered a screen as a well-reviewed supplier on AliExpress had them for only $50. Will update when I receive it in the mail in a few weeks and open up the phone.

A long shot is that it is a cable that is not firmly in the plug, so if you are to open the upper part with the intend of replacing anyway then try to check that.

Initial impressions after one whole day with it.... If I had received this 2 years ago, I would have been pleased. However, since then I have bought a Fairphone 5 which has a bigger screen, faster processor and better cameras, so apart from the physical keyboard it feels like a step backwards. @Itsacon, thanks for the info! Indeed replacing Gboard with Microsoft SwiftKey did the trick. It also turns out that I can type special characters in non-English layouts using "shift+number", instead of "↗️+number". It is kind of strange to use different approaches with different layouts, but at least it's now usable.

I pretty much echo @MonCon I consider my Pro1x my daily driver. It does work fine as a phone on T-Mobile (both calls and data) in both VA and CO in the US, but I don't use it for that. I de-converged back with my Pro 1 in 2020. I'm retired and it isn't a lot of trouble to carry 2 devices. I don't do a lot of calling. 95% of my calls involve home health care for Mrs. Hook. Both the Pro1 and Pro1x are have weaker r reception than other phones and I need 100% reliability for the home health care no matter where I am driving. There was a choice of either blue or black in the campaing. They e-mailed me that they didn't have enough blue devices so they switched me to black. It has XDA logo on the back and a factory label saying Pro1 X 😉

My Pro1-X from Expansis is also black. I think they made a lot of those.

Not to quibble that it hasn't been too long, but I believe you mean 2019, not 2018. ;-)

Lineage-21-20240826-NIGHTLY-pro1x with Aug 5th security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps14, and root was maintained. One oddity. I don't have any kind of screen lock on the device. Before this update, aside from swiping with my finger, I could press the space bar to dismiss the lock screen. That no longer works. There isn't a setting, so something internal changed. It's annoying since pressing the space bar is easy and really ingrained. I'm also getting yellow triangles about not being secure, so maybe that's connected. Hello all, I wanted to post one success story after the years of despair in this community. My Pro1 X arrived last week to Czechia with around 50% charge in black instead of blue but I am grateful to receive something. Contribution #36xx. Flashing LineageOS 21 worked like a charm. My impression after a few days: Pros The keyboard is great: I was used to Blackberries but I find the wide layout quite comfortable, the thumbs must travel a bit more but it's superior for languages with accents like Czech. LTE works fine in Czechia with T-Mobile including VoLTE. I am lucky in this regar

Well, today my saga has finally come to an end. After paying a 49 euro import fee, the delivery guy was gone in a flash. The packaging looked like it was meant for the original Pro1, but inside was a blue Pro1X. Unfortunately, it has a custom engraving on the back. And, of course, it won’t turn on. So, I’ve resorted to putting a rubber band on the power button while it’s hooked up to the charger, hoping it’ll eventually come to life. Regardless i will 3d print a frame and put it on my wall. Hey folks, I'm having a weird problem. I was able to successfully flash LineageOS 21 onto my Pro1X, but about a minute after booting (may be when the screen first locks, not sure) the touchscreen quits working and doesn't work again unless Recovery and the Lineage package are totally reflashed. I reflashed them using fastboot. Tried all four of the currently-available nightly builds and all four of them did the same thing. Even tried installing the oldest one and updating within Lineage to the latest. Same problem. I can do some limited navigation with the keyboard but ob
