I've been daily driving Sailfishos for about 4 years on the Pro1 then the X. I haven't experienced these issues.

How suitable is the Rii Mini i6 keyboard for a mobile phone? Does anyone else have another idea for a suitable keyboard? The reason I ask is that I wouldn't mind having a shot at designing a 3D printable case/hinge to fill the gap that FxTec has left us with. The benefit would be that we can use any phone with it with small adjustments. I'm thinking something similar to the Pro1(x) style as it is beautiful, though might be unattainable as it uses a half size keyboard. The width would be the real killer as it would add an extra ~6 to 10 mm to the phone/keyboard combo. This c

I've updated the model to include a thicker version that works well with TPU. I've been using it for the last couple of weeks without any trouble. Ignore the card holder. It doesn't work for payments, it's too thick. I was thinking of adding a hex grid but that would also expose the card. 😕

Pro1x - really poor connectivity to both wifi and cellular.
belletrist replied to RichC73's topic in Support
I'm currently doing this on Sailfish with Cellmon in Australia. One thing I have noticed is that I'm seeing a swap between 4G and 3G which IIRC I wasn't without Cellmon, It stayed purely on 4G or nothing. I'll test that later. -
I've just uploaded a new case with a cutout for the headphone jack. I would suggest printing in PETG to provide the extra stability. https://www.printables.com/model/267403-fxtec-pro1x-case

I was initially designing with TPU in mind but it's easier to prototype in PETG. My main concern about TPU and my design is the lip around both halves isn't that big. I'll have to test it again. I will reintroduce the headphone jack as it possibly would be ok in PETG. I'll upload a new model shortly. Personaaly I don't mind the PETG feel, it reminds me of my Otterbox case I had for my N900.

I have already included a model with the fxtec and sfos logos. I'm from Aus, I'll send you a pm.

While I do agree with you, it's the unfortunate position of the camera cutout that was the deciding factor.

Attached the printed case to a snakehive case with T7000. seems to work well.

I've updated my models to support the new Pro1X. I've also added a small lip around the edges to match up with the bevel on the two halves. This does not interfere with the phone when closed as they sit just below the surface. Both halves now fit firmly against the phone with no movement when opening or closing. I would imagine they would survive a drop as well. (Not tested). https://www.printables.com/model/267403-fxtec-pro1x-case

FYI. The USB port is higher up on the Pro1X. A case designed for the Pro1 wont suit it unless it's a full cutout to the edge. I'll update my model shortly.

I would suggest PETG over PLA as it's a tight fit and that's what I've been prototying in. I would hold off on TPU for the moment, the fit isn't strong enough yet.

https://www.printables.com/model/267403-fxtec-pro1x-case Feel free to let me know your thoughts, criticisms, tweaks. I'm already thinking it needs a bit more on top for screen protection. I've also done a template for cutting out screen protectors which I'll upload shortly. I haven't been able to find any that ship to Australia.

I decided to make my own case as a learning experience. So far it's just the base as I wanted something to replace the plastic holder in my Snakehive case. I have not included the hole for the headphones as it would leave a gap in the upper edge of the case and reduced it's grip on the phone. I will upload the STL's onto Printables when they're ready. I'm still tweaking small measurements atm. pro1_case.mp4

Unfortunately it does need to be printed in TPU. PLA is to rigid for this type of phone case.

The case in black.

They look good, Thank you once again. I'll take them for a test drive shortly. I've been making progress on the 3d modelling front but they still all end up messy in the renders. Your work is appreciated.

Display units with large tap-insensitive margin

A 3D printed case is the way to go IMHO with the Pro1. It retains that nice feel of it but with extra grip. The design still needs a bit of polish but it's getting close. Unfortunately I'm still learning that side of things and haven't had any success yet. If anybody is interested in a used Snakehive case, still in good condition, only modified the phone holder to suit the Pro1, let me know. I wont be returning to it. -
The clack in case some of you were wondering. theclack1.mp4

Here's a top half for SailfishOS edge swipes. Looser than the Lineage build but still holds onto the screen. The bottom half is getting closer. The holes have now been tapered to allow for successful presses, FP reads. All that's left is to align the USB and the headphone jack. @MaplesteelI have paypal.

$15 AUD to cover the cost of materials.

I did the print but the design came from someone else. It still needs a few tweaks before it's ready. I don't mind printing it for anyone who's interested but I'm from Aus so the shipping cost will be something to consider. I only have the one color atm but I'm thinking of getting black as well. As for how it suits the Pro1? It's already replaced my snakehive case. I like the extra grip it provides while keeping to near the original size.

I've been using the flip case from Snakehive for awhile now and just wanted to update on the TPU case within it. I have only made one cut out for the finger print reader. For the other buttons I've only sliced the plastic to weaken it. That does allow the buttons to be pressed, even the camera button can be used this way. The case doesn't appear to be as flimsy as others have suggested, with the extra button cutouts. It does survive an upside down shake test without coming loose.

Fx tec pouch and other pouchs (no belt clip)
belletrist replied to OKSun's topic in General Discussion
I Just received my order of the Snakehive flip case and pouch today. I only tried the pouch briefly, just to test for fit and I would say that after a bit of use, it'll be the perfect fit. It's a tight fit but not something that you're left struggling with to get out with two hands. -

I gave up on the pouch after a few weeks of use. I found it to be to fiddly trying to get the phone out to answer a call.
