Lineage-20.0-20231009-nightly-pro1-signed.zip KILLED USER PARTITON, FORMAT NEEDED, From there it installed smoothly using adb sideload and MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64-20230808_213316, ends on on Sep 5 security patch.

For  clarification, was that because your user partition had a problem or because this Lineage update needed it?  Coincidentally, I just returned my Pro 1 to Lineage this afternoon, but I was coming from Droidian, so user partition was already freshly formatted.

  2. In a casual conversation in Discord today, while helping someone with a battery problem, Casey provided some information on the shipping situation. Hopefully that means there will be  an update soon,  I'll quote Casey so as to not misrepresent.

After verifying that the photo in the last update was a new photo, he was asked if the units had been tested for battery problems.  He said:

    Quote

yes of course. They are able to turn on. Though, one thing to note/expect is that when expansys handed back these units to us, all retail boxes were opened. They checked the phones individually if they would turn on or not. I've set aside those phones that are labelled as problematic. The rest should be working as normal, and has been handed over to our new shipping partner.

The only hold-up at the moment is, the shipping partner is taking a long time to do a stock count of all the SKUs, but I'm sure they'll be done soon..

All phones were opened by Expansys. I've set aside the ones that couldn't turn on (kept at warehouse) until we send an engineer to Hong Kong to activate them

I am just quoting from Discord.  I can't answer clarification questions.  I just thought this information would be nice for folks over here who don't go to Discord.  As I said, maybe this means there will be an IGG update soon.

Just so you know, this would only result in having the post hidden or you banned, which does not actually delete your account, which we have no means of doing.  I don't say this with any intended animosity, just informing you that the suggested behavior won't get what you actually want, which I agree there should be a simple means of doing.

There's just one thing that keeps bugging me, and at first I thought connectivity was the problem again, as I didn't receive e-mail or Whatsapp/Signal messages on time, sometimes they got delayed by hours. Eventually I found that the reason seems to be that the Android on my Titan effectively kills, not just hides, apps when I close them and they disappear from the open apps view. Other apps with notifications are affected, too. Have to go a bit more into that, but for now I'll just keep the apps open from which I frequently want to see notifications...

I don't allow a lot of notifications, so I hadn't noticed this... my philosophy in retirement is that email is asynchronous communication and therefore I'll get around to it when I feel like it.  :classic_biggrin: But I now noticed that my email isn't waiting for me if Aquamail is closed, it has to update after I open it.  Also, my weather widget only updated without my tapping the update arrow if Accuweather was open. So, yes, the Slim seems aggressive about closing apps.

@Rob. S. I believe your Whatsapp issues are from the Titan's overzealous App Blocker. I kept wondering why Status Bar Mini Pro had to keep being restarted. In App Blocker, you can exclude apps from AB's monitoring, which worked with Status Bar, but I eventually disabled App Blocker completely--these devices already give plenty of battery life.

Nice find.  I've now turned that off too.  If they want to help protect us, give us damn security updates. :classic_rolleyes:

  6. My build number is Titan_Slim_20220812, so I assume mine is the non-EEA version.

I am fabulously happy with this phone and am so glad I didn't go for the pocket (even though I have no idea if I would be fabulously happy with that one or not).  Again, keep in mind my iuse case.  It is my phone and text appliance, which means it is my 10% device.  But it does what I really need--phone, contacts. texting, messaging, Android Auto-- extremely well.  It gives me a quite usable keyboard for anything I might need on the go.  I CAN use it for anything else, but only if I am running around and so not worth it to bring my Pro1X, which is my 90% pocket computer.

I'm thrilled that Verizon worked without a hiccup using the muled sim from my old Moto.  I really worried that I would have to fiddle.

The TPU case they provide was a nice surprise.  It is very solid with a nice textured back and gives the Slim nice weight and heft while not making it all that much bulkier.  Without it, I'd have a lot more touch screen accidents.

The finger print sensor works nicely and I registered my left thumb so I could pick the phone up and land on the home page one-handed.

Having no problems with any signals, wifi, mobile data and BT all working.

I am glad I settled for this keyboard in order to get the more portrait screen.  It makes a big difference., using the smallest screen setting and Nova homescreen and dock settings.

All in all, I am wondering why it took me so long to ditch my Moto for this.  My prejudice against small potrait keyboards blinded me to the fact that, for my 10% phone, that wasn't a big deal.

  7. I think I missed a week. Lol.

Lineage-20.0-20230921-nightly-pro1x with Sep 5th security patch installed smoothly via OTA. MindTheGapps13, and root was maintained.

Curiously, there were 2 updates, one on the 20th (a day early) and one on the 21st.  I installed the one for the 21st, figuring something must have been buggy with the first one or else why release an immediate update, but I don't actually know.  Everything is working smoothly.

@Hook @jakfish  Thanks for your comments! Just for the record, my build is Titan_Slim_EEA_20220810 and the updater says it's up to date. From my short foray into some forums like 'crackberry' I know there are two variants, an "EEA" and a "non EEA" variant, depending on the device. Perhaps the "EEA" is what we get here in Europe?

It also seems that Unihertz already has internal firmware updates (which they have given out to some that have contacted them) for an issue that may or may not be related; in some cases the phone seems to struggle switching between the satellites in a WiFi mesh. And some have received a dial code to enable some 'engineering mode', which, for them, seemed to have worked.

Whatever it is, and now that's the good news here: For me, disabling Bluetooth and and turning off both WiFi scanning and Bluetooth scanning already did the trick; WiFi now works reliably enough in both 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi in my home mesh.

The plan is use the weekend to move to the Slim for daily driver, shelving the Pro1X for the time being, before it breaks completely.

Glad to hear you worked it out.  I am very happy with my Slim for the use case I have for it.  My muled Verizon Sim works great, including data (I tested without Wifi).  It curiously says in settings that it is Sprint, lol, but has the correct access point for Verizon and says Verizon wireless when it starts up and on the notification shade. Also, made one of the smoothest pairings I've ever had  with Android Auto,

If I am going to do really extensive writing or editing on a phone, it's going to be my Pro1x everytime, but for texting and even small writing/editing touch-ups while I am out, this is a good phone.

The Slim arrived today. That was fast! Unfortunately it seems I have similar WiFi issues as @EskeRahn. Every couple of seconds, the WiFi connection breaks down. After switching WiFi off and on again it works again for another minute or two. Other than for the Pro1X' mobile data issues, I see no workaround whatsoever for a WiFi connection that is not stable...

Looks like the 2.4 GHz isn't quite as problematic as 5 GHz, though, and I've read (maybe I should've read more before I ordered it...) that disabling Bluetooth would help, too. I'm testing a few other things like disabling "WiFi scan throttling" in the developer settings (didn't seem to make a difference) and also turning of WiFi and Bluetooth scanning.

Oh, and I've also read that both the Titan Slim and the Titan Pocket were equally affected by the issue.

Well, my Slim arrived... of course I have appointments all day and won't get to it until tonight.  But I turned it on, put my account on it and then connected to wifi.  I am detecting no challenges.  Signal seems fine and stable.

For the record, it says it is up-to-date with build date of 20220812 and kernel date of OCT 14, 2022.

I quickly tried the keyboard and without any comments on the key layout/assignments, I find it nicely usable.  The keys are small, but they are very clicky with good feedback. Lots more after tonight, but I just wanted to test the wifi.  My wifi is 5 GHz by the way, and I am using default settings on the phone.

Maybe  I just live in this weird alternate dimension where things just work.  Lol.

If you haven't. you might try the folks in the Unihertz Discord... they are a very civil, helpful bunch.  Over there, there was a discussion that Wifi problems are due to wpa3, that wpa2 works fine.  I don't know since I don't have my Slim yet.

  11. I've just joined the Unihertz club, even though both my Pro1 and Pro1x work great and I will continue to use my Pro1x most of the time. It's my cheap moto slab I'm trying to replace, which is just phone, texting and Android Auto.. essentially, a car phone.  But even for the very little bit of typing I do on it, I am so fed up with on-screen typing that I'm willing to give BB style portrait keyboards a try.  I settle on the Slim rather than the pocket.  Both keyboards are too small in my opinion, having one that is slightly smaller won't matter that much.  All the reviews seemed to think the Slim had better key switches and I hate square screens.  I'm still going to mostly be working on FxTec phones as pocket computers.  I don't really do a lot with a phone except set up doctor stuff.  Otherwise, I wouldn't even give out my number.  :D  I'm done with not having a keyboard in portrait (I never use my Pro1/ Pro1x in portrait).

Ok I stop here as we are not in a Titan forum, but it's cool to discuss from a phone who is deliverable.

I don't think there's any reason not to discuss other keyboard phones, especially in threads dedicated  to them.  This is, after all, a keyboard phone community.  :)

Oh? Which cable and which app?

These posts were split out from the Pro1x production and delivery thread, since this seemed a more specific and technical discussion.

This one, I believe.  I haven't gotten one, so I don't know, but I assume the instructions tell you which app to download.  I also recall someone on discord saying the app asks for lots of permissions but works fine when all permissions denied.

  14. That "web3 garbage" has been going on since early 2022 at least and is likely how our Pro1xs got manufactured.  Thank goodness, because clearly the troubles with the Pro1x were costly,

As for the new phone, that is a separate project, may not exist yet other than as a branded plastic model in Adrian's pocket and if it brings in investment that can be used to help solve the shipping problem, fine with me.

Yes, web3 is the web and not all that useful in modern industrialized settings, but there are some uses, as I understand it, in forming ad hoc networks in regions not well served by broadband, but I am far from an expert on this.

The point I'm trying to make is that their going out to try to attract investment does not necessarily mean they are abandoning us.  It means they are trying to stay alive, which benefits us greatly.  I'd like them to survive at leasy long enough to cut a deal to have our devices shipped. :)

Finally, yes, the HDMI situation is not what was wanted by the backers or by FxtEc,  But the statement you quote is not wrong.  It is simply that only one USB-c to HDMI cable works and requires an app and only mirrors. Not a good result, but what they say is not wrong.

so, managed to bring new life in my beloved device.

    1. disassemled the unit to accss and manually charged the battery, this stopped the strange boot loop.

(phone still only goes to fastboot)

    2. instead of using my pretty new computer running win10 I connected it to my 13 year old laptop running Debian made it able to communicate in fastboot.

    3. flashed original ROM via fastboot

(phone still only goes to fastboot)

    4. (almost a bit embarresed to say but...) manually change active slot via fastboot. Now it boots 😁

    5. flash Lineage again and change active slot once more, and now it's runninge perfectly fine again

Although I am primarily a Windows user (I have one main activity that uses Windows only software, so it is just more convenient to have everything in one place), I use Majaro on an old Thinkpad for all my ADB  and Fastboot stuff with my Pro1 an Pro1x.  It just always works. I recommend an old computer with Linux for any Windows user wanting to do a lot of flashing. :)

Stop dreaming, act like adults and accept the defeat. This time crowdfunding went wrong

I doubt anyone here thinks this Crowdfunding didn't go wrong. Hahaha, I probably have accepted it is unlikely I will see my second Pro1x, but still don't see any advantage to "accepting defeat" other than for some reason making you less agitated. Not really a motivator for me.  ;)
