Hey,

Do any of you know of a good (and free) platform to host a community wiki for the Pro1?

The issue being that the forums are good for discussions, but not for providing information and guides (especially considering there is a time limit for editing posts). For example, if you were to discover this phone today, you'd have a hard time finding out which OSes are available for it and where the guide for each of them is. Basically, if you know to search for it, the forums will provide you the info you need, but there is no index, nor much separation between conversation and guides (not to mention user suggested solutions which spawn many, many pages in a single thread without such distinctions).

The best solution would be for F(x)tec to be hosting it themselves, since that avoid all the caveats a free solution would imply. @Erik, would this be possible?

@EskeRahn @Waxberry @Erik

Could you guys organise to remove the time limit on posts edit? That would indeed enable people to write and maintain guides and articles here on the forums.

This is a good idea. I will look into some Wiki platforms, and allow trusted community members to post :).

I've just removed the time limit on post edits.

Can also just host in github that way you can use pull request for content editing not that normal user friendly though 🙂

I guess any wiki which allows edit approval should be ok?  That way it doesn't need to be locked down and will encourage collaboration.   (Wouldn't surprise me if media wiki had an extension for that)

To be fair we could just use the forum now that the edit time limit has been lifted. Just tag your articles with wiki or doc or article or whatever you fancy and you are done. As a bonus people can also comment on your page content 🙂

The removal of the time limit does help a lot. The main issue with only using the forum would now be indexing. for example, if I were to look for the currently available OSes for the Pro1.

Or actually add a checkbox category. One thing is still missing IMO is the ability to search within a thread.

Would be nice to at the least be able to search in thread titles for words shorter than four chars. Say you want to look for threads on "USB 3.0", USB, SIM, OTA or similar. You currently are limited to using (e.g.) Google search with site:community.fxtec.com parameter, not super elegant.....

But only the OP could update the first post, so an actual wiki might be better.

I agree a wiki FAQ would be useful, especially if it was not too restrictive who was allowed to edit.

And also glad to hear we can now finally update OPs.
