  1. So I replaced my screen. All in all it took me about an hour I think, spread over three days. First I removed the screen with the help of my trusty hairdryer. I bought this hairdryer a couple of years ago specific for these kind of 'operations' (came with a nozzle). I heated up one (long) side and put my nail in between the gap (screen and frame). I repeated this on the other side. After I removed the glue residue from the frame I transferred the black and silver stickers from the old screen to the new screen. No idea why, but I just did, assuming there moust be a reason FxTec places those sti

  2. I bet that was the hardest part, to leave that bottle untouched for 48 hours? 😂

  4. So, just one last update on that slightly off-topic discussion from few weeks ago: Following @Sean McCreary's suggestions, I was indeed able to build an up-to-date (unofficial) LOS 16.0. It is really not that difficult - my very first build went through smoothly and relatively quickly (~ 12 h overall), even though the ressources I had assigned to my virtual building machine were not even remotely close to the recommended values (i3-U, 3 cores, 6 GB RAM, 300 GB hdd). I'm now on Android patchlevel 05-05-2021, which does feel better, indeed. Thanks to @Sean McCreary's hint about ke

  6. So I got tired of not being able to hit 'send' buttons and f(x)tec were unresponsive about new screen supplies. I switched out my screen for an elephone one from aliexpress, it was easier than expected, and all good so far.

  7. May I be the next on the waiting list? I know there's pretty much no hope to get it, but never know. I bought a spare Pro1 second hand last February but it turned out to be broken and unrepairable, so I'm still with no fully working Pro1 spare, and I don't see myself surviving without one.

  8. Absolutely. I think now it's only a matter of downloading the image, extracting it, and executing the supplied .sh script. On Windows, one would copy the content of the script and execute things one by one (or use WSL, or convert to .bat, I guess). Note however that users have reported that the late ≥4.0 images do not work and would end up in a boot loop. Adam is on it, but no update has been posted yet. The way to go for now is therefore to flash an older image somewhere between 3.4 and 4.0, and then use OTA update. I haven't tried, but other users on Discord can probably elaborate.

  9. @DesSuburbia Yes there has been QA issues with Pro¹s. I got to unbox three of them. One was DOA with keyboard short circuit, one had the touch screen fail within 6 months and one apparently works but is mostly sitting in a drawer. Luckily with two broken devices I could assemble a fully working one which has been one year in daily use without failure since I replaced the display half. If I recall well FxTec took 10 weeks door to door (Germany-UK-Germany) to repair the one device I sent them. I'm not surprise they forgot about your device. Typical for start-up having to deal with logistics

  10. Fair, I don't think that discredits what I said though. In fact it might make it more relevant I still fully believe that if you see a Pre-Christmas Pro 1 X for sale and are thinking about buying it as your sole daily driver, rather than a neat collector's item, then maybe don't If the small batch of 10 is likely to have other people who also got defects, not just me and Jax, and the person with the defective phone threw it on eBay instead of dealing with FXTec, you gotta then send in the phone you just bought for $800 or £600 I emailed FXTec in February, was told
