  1. Thanks for the work, people. Life got in the way here a bit. I did a bit of digging based on the rar shared in this thread by Kaali: The APK does seem to contain code to write config data to the chip (com.goodix.tools.ICParametersConfig.class). I attached a version of the *.cfg converted to decimal, separated by newlines. There are 239 bytes in total, which do not seem to map cleanly to the config information in the datasheet. I also attached a version of the flashing instructions with Google translations in them. I used the APK with my Pro1 in USB debugging mode, and after havi

  3. 20% VAT + 2.5% Duty + £8 handling fee if you're unlucky, and you probably will be as it's well over the limit. Fxtec spent the money that would have covered our customs fees on the redesign - I'd rather pay on arrival than not getting a phone so while it's not great it's hard to complain.

  4. Hahaha There have been only 2 left for probably a year or more. If you check, you'll see there are still "only 2 left" after your purchase. 😂 But great you are getting one. Congratulations.

  6. That's a much better reason. I hope it arrives in a timely manner and you like it 👍🏾

  7. Actually, they must have updated things - there were 3 left before I bought it and 2 left after I bought it. I checked. Maybe it is a different run? I see they started shipping already. I think only Germany and Korea are left and scheduled for next week, I believe. I like the mechanical keys and it is just a tad bigger than the Pro 1x - just under 3/4". I also like that the screen slides completely away from the keyboard. Of course, can't really tell which one I will like better until I get them both in my hands.

  8. Interesting. To me they're much the same - instead of trying to convince buyers the product is good they try to trick them into a quick decision. I guess specifically faking scarcity by giving it a number is slightly worse than the implied scarcity of FOMO but there's not much in it.

  9. Yes, but bear in mind it is an unused phone, so practically these buttons are in stock condition. I feel the very same behaviour like pushing other metal membrane-like tactile buttons. Some closer photos:

  10. I had to remove USB panel of my spare Pro1 so I have it currently disassembled (however soon it seems I will receive a replacement panel). So I have tried to take some photos.

  11. FOMO - the scummiest form of marketing. Clearly it works though...

  13. Lineage recovery works just fine for AICP. Never tried recovery for 19 but I don't think that AICP being still Android 11 while 19 is 12 matters for using the recovery. I don't truly know the risks of not patching. Anyone still using stock Android on the Pro1 hasn't been patched in 2 years, IIRC. There is someone here who is unofficially maintaining Lineage OS 16, keeping it patched every couple of months (He runs it Google-free, but no reason you can't add Gapps). Scroll back for previous discussion. You can follow his link here for the latest update: http://findus.zwe

  14. Hi, i just received a package from fxtec with an replacing usb board and wanted to replace the old one. That worked quite easy, as I have disassembled the device twice before without problems. Now after I replaced it, I realized that the external hardware buttons (not the keyboard) like the power button and the volume buttons were completely pressed. It seems that there is no resistance from inside to be able to push the buttons. I disassembled it again and tried to see what the problem was but I dont know. So either I "lost" something on all three buttons while disassembling it, or I

  15. I have just been advised that there could be a fee of £50-100 from customs and duty ( possibly a fee for the process of this too as there usually is. This means that not only have we waited for months or years for the phone, but it is now more expensive than buying the phone online from the website as there is no delivery cost within the UK and there would be no duty for purchasing the phone from a UK business. It looks like we will have to shoulder the import costs into the UK rather than the fxtec shouldering the import cost. Any thoughts?
