  1. So in the end it is about style and screen size? I've read a lot that people with curved screen do not use the curved part of the screen. So would a bezel really mean we lose anything? I don't want to be an ass about that, i really want to understand if there are any valid pros of a curved screen. And more screen estate may be a valid pro.
  2. I absolutely hate that. That is the windows way, it means you have to press double-quote twice to get a double-quote. I am Swiss and use the US-International Layout with a modifier key. So 'Alt-Gr' + specific key gives you what you want, that is waaaay faster.
  3. This does not at any point list an advantage for the curved screen just for a bigger screen. Why do you want it to be curved? Are there any reasons except style? A little bit more screen size? Do you really use the curved part of the screen?
  4. Press&Hold a key actually works pretty good for Umlauts and other special symbol. But only If (and it is a big hard if) the time you have to hold it is configurable. I had a really hard time switching to android (from maemo) back than, because it wasn't configurable back than. It slowed typing down a lot. So if you go for Press&Hold for anything, it is a must for me to have it configurable. But would prefer modifier anyway, since it is independent from the OS!
  5. I would be in for an all black keyboard! (only half a joke would love it). But as far as a preprinted layout goes: Two Modifiers for a capital umlaut are normal for a Swiss layout, that is not the big problem here. But to put keys to the left side which are normally on the right, will give everybody a hard time getting used to it (I mean have you ever changed your keyboard layout? It takes an awful amount of time to get back to your old tipping speed. And you can believe me an all black keyboard does not help) I think it is a stupid idea to be creative here. There are a lot of "better"
  6. No that is just not true. Some people want that. But for me it is keyboard, battery and then price. I would rather not upgrade the hardware in this and then pay a grand on it. Most people do not need more power than that on a phone. And 5G is not even here yet. It will take at least another 2 years until it is worth getting a 5G phone (Probably another 10 years in the U.S. until the coverage is there). So that is the last point where more expensive hardware should be put in (at least in my opinion). But you are partially right. There is a tipping point. If the tech is too old, nobody is go
  7. Wow I am not that old... No honestly if somebody read this thread he might think that most modern phones have a curved screen which is not true. Most of the phones have a flat screen. And even on Samsungs flagship a lot of people would prefer a flat screen: - https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/87kd9a/would_you_buy_a_flatedged_galaxy_s9/?limit=1500. And here a general Poll to flat vs curved: - https://www.poll-maker.com/results2049800x31E0496d-56#tab-2 It is hard to get good data, but look at the Iphone, young people are buying these without curved screens. Real data of all so
  8. I think this is not that important at all. I think it is important to know how we could change the layout software-side. After 3 weeks it does not matter at all what is printed on the keyboard you won't need to look. But it is important to have YOUR layout! So the real question is, will there be any software support (without rooting) to change the keymaps as you please?
  9. To be honest, I wait for this phone since my N900 gave up on me. Yes it isn't my dream phone in every aspect, but if the keyboard has a nice feel to it, I am gonna buy it even if it is expensive. Other phones are way more expensive and you gonna use that keyboard all the time, while the faster processor in another phone will mostly idle. I hope this phone will be a smashing success. I hope it sells so good, that every other company sees what stupid error jobs did by removing it.
  10. +1 for the normal Screen But do not mix it up with other features. I am not in for the Qi it is also a gimmick. I am in for the price drop a normal screen should allow!
  11. Well I know it sounds strange to type "Umlauts" with the US-International. And believe me, while maybe not as common as in Finish, Umlauts are also used a lot in German and they are at nearly as common in Swiss-German than in Finish! And yes I use the US-International Keyboard for Swiss-German, German and English. Why? Because it is way more comfortable to use vim as it was intended. It may sound strange, and at the beginning it is strange, but after a while it is quite easy to type that. I mean every capital letter you type also requires yo to press two buttons together, it is not diffe
  12. Yeah me too, even thought about preordering, but without a support for international chars the keyboard is useless for me
  13. Why not just use US-International? This would require an Alt-Gr key but would allow all this languages. I use it at the pc for äöü.
