Sometime late November. I'm stuck in the middle with you two. :P

Uh-oh, random reboots plus random inputs sounds like a physical defect, such as a bad RAM chip feeding the processor garbage occasionally. How many people have had this issue? For example, I've had a lot of random reboots on my Droid 4 with LOS using zRAM, but never random input or anything that would indicate anything beyond a simple software bug. It COULD be two unrelated bugs, both of which sound like they would live in the hardware drivers, since stock does it too.

CDMA is in use outside the US in many places. It would be interesting to know if anyone else has tried the clack with these networks, and what their results were. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_CDMA2000_networks#Active_networks

Again I'm puzzled. I have never said that there's nothing worth noting; only that the extreme precautions and any panic at all are unwarranted, based on the available data. I am between your extremes as you stated them, having observed that those at high risk would do well to take extra precautions, as they should during flu season anyway, but that the general freakout and resulting general shutdowns are completely unwarranted. Caution is not panic, and many actions being taken now by both individuals and governing bodies are not representing, in my opinion, caution, but panic. It sounds like

OK, that's fair....I wasn't comparing apples to apples there, now that you mention it. You caught a mismatched dataset that I genuinely didn't notice. I think my general point still stands without that item though. With one possible exception, no one here is wishing for anyone else to die, from this or anything else. Life is a balancing act, where we decide what is an acceptable risk for a possible reward. I feel that the balancing act is not even being contemplated right now. We're pursuing the impossible dream of total risk mitigation, and not caring who or what is destroyed along the w

Your numbers are order of magnitude low on the swine flu. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_flu_pandemic reports that 10-11% of the world was infected, with between 150,000 fatalities, and 565,000 fatalities. This scare-onavirus has been nowhere near that bad, and even left to itself was unlikely to get that bad. It has been said that the reason we generally do nothing drastic about the flu is that it would be too economically disruptive. I wish I could remember who said that, but it is a pretty self-evident statement, really. Why then is this scare-onavirus such cause for panic? Could i

Well, when people are desperate they take what they can get, and besides, a nip on your hands and a nip down the hatch is more fun than just a nip on your hands. LOL I know a lot of you think I'm stupid to say this is all stupid, but where I live everywhere people congregate is closed by edict. I despise that. If people wish to take the risk, that should be their choice. If people wish to sequester themselves, that should be their choice too. Furthermore, this has still had far less impact globally than the 2009/10 swine flu, and the panic was nowhere near this great over that. Have we go

Now this is interesting.....if the nurses and doctors have the same disease as the patient, there's no danger of provider to patient transmission of illness. As long as what everyone has is known, people with mild cases can treat those with severe cases of the same thing. Internal segregation in the hospitals should already be in place, and make this possible. Of course you'd hate to be that doctor or nurse who has to work while you feel lousy, but sometimes that's life. Sometimes we all have to work when we feel lousy. Thus far it seems that the biggest danger is not how serious the illn

I still believe that that number will be skewed higher by unreported cases. The data we have now suggests that many, if not most, cases will show mild symptoms, which will not be recorded other than by OTC cold remedy suppliers who note a bump in sales. Personally, I am assuming I'm going to get it, and 100% sure it will never be documented, because I don't go to the doctor for things that don't seem sure to kill me. I know a ton of people who are just like me in that regard, and my circle is fairly small.

There is a great deal that isn't known, but boy does this sure sound like a bad flu season. Pneumonia is a fairly common complication of influenza, in vulnerable populations, and I don't think that by itself warrants the excitement this is receiving. The fact that this spreads so quickly is the only thing about this that is a little unusual, but again it's not unprecedented. The mortality rate for this is still very low overall. The comparison was made to ebola, and few diseases are LESS like the scare-onavirus than ebola. If we were dealing with a disease of ebola's severity here, I'd sa

I find it interesting that you look at my perspective as inhuman (did you mean inhumane?) at all....to me it is just a matter of believing, correctly or incorrectly, that this virus does not represent a far greater danger to human health than previously common illnesses such as influenza, and the same common precautions would have represented adequate control mechanisms had we not known that it was something different from what we'd seen before. Yes, people will die from it, as from influenza outbreaks, but I don't think this reality represented a reason for the widespread disruptions caused o

@auvo.salmi OK, first of all, President Trump did not say that the Coronavirus' existence was a hoax, but rather that the hype surrounding it is a hoax, and I agree that it is. Malicious news outlets who despise him edited his remarks to make it sound like he was saying that the existence of the virus was a hoax. It's interesting that that piece of the disinformation campaign has reached so far. Flu definitely is the better comparison for the severity level here, but I call it an extra-nasty cold because the virus is in the family with the cold, not flu. I don't think the data supports yo

It is the nature of the world in which we live; we are connected, and we share things. Sometimes the things we share are wonderful. Sometimes they're not. I appreciate the sensible perspective you shared. The balance of how to achieve the reasonable goal of slowing the spread without the unreasonable side-effect of panic is definitely going to be difficult to find under the best of circumstances, because you almost need the panic to make people change their habits, but on the other hand, the panic is going to kill people too. Personally I think we should have let nature take its course on
-
You are illustrating my point. This IS A COLD that's a little nastier than normal. Ebola has a kill rate comparable to bubonic plague (about 25-90% depending on a lot of variables) and you're practically equating the two. Unless you're trolling me (which is entirely possible) YOU are a victim of the disinformation campaign.

Unfortunately, this scenario could play, but it won't be because of the virus, but because of the PANIC. Under normal circumstances, those who really need treatment seek it, and the rest just drink chicken juice and take long naps. Under a panic situation, people believe that their non-life-threatening illness, whether scare-onavirus or something else, may be life-threatening, and seek treatment, therefore creating massive demand for services, most of which are completely unneeded. Again, at this point it's all but a guarantee that THE PANIC will be deadly.
-
They still have a really good chance then, because they can likely avoid this by being cautious like they always do during flu season. If they don't, then they'll have IMHO roughly the same odds as they'd have had with the plain ol' flu that also goes around. My point is that this is no worse than flu, and the panic response is totally unwarranted. I may be right, I may be crazy. Time will tell. I'm a naturally cautious person, and my danger sensors are not sounding alarms about the virus, but they are about the panic. THE PANIC will be very deadly.

@Rob. S. Yes, I accept the death of the feeble and elderly. They are never far away from it, and SOMETHING is going to push them over the edge, in most cases sooner rather than later. This is a reality that the feeble and elderly have always faced, and the only thing different now is that we fool ourselves into thinking we can do something about that. We are an increasingly delusional people that way. Once upon a time we accepted our mortality, but now we pretend that it is preventable when it is not. The "vaccines" for cold and flu are of very limited usefulness because the viruses change so

Today my country (United States) and State (Michigan) have basically cancelled EVERYTHING. International shipping, public events, school....you name it, it's cancelled. First it was masks, and now people are hoarding toilet paper, of all things....you can't find it on store shelves now. Coronavirus. With the panic that this virus has created, you'd think it was like rabies where no one survives, and we were facing mass extinction. Personally, I think that it's becoming increasingly obvious that this will not be remembered as a major medical catastrophe, but as a major PSYCHOLOGICAL catast

As usual, TDM is Tom Da MAN!!! 🙂 In all seriousness though, there really aren't enough nice things to say about what you've done here. You've almost singlehandedly made a great piece of hardware with terrible software a great piece of hardware with great software to match! I certainly hope that the IdioticLTE people take some hints from your work, for the sake of the device's reputation. Bravo, sir! We salute you!

That option should be harmless. If you hold it longer, the board will drop power immediately (some devices require an additional keypress to trigger this behavior, such as volume down) akin to unplugging the power from a device with no battery. This is the dangerous one that was being described earlier. What you're doing is the usual way.
-
I still can't understand why anyone would do it unless they were having a problem though. I've only done it a few times ever on all the devices I've owned.
