LineageOS 19.1 Official Release for Pro1
silversolver replied to wapsi's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
That's worrying; I need to replace my screen, and wondered how physically difficult it was, but why do we have to go back to stock to make it work? -
I tried several times over the last couple of days to reset my forum password, and the email never came. Fortunately I eventually remembered my password, hence this post, but it seems that is broken. Could someone investigate it?

The Pro1, almost a year later
silversolver replied to Wasmachineman_NL's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
Many of the software improvements made for the P1X will be applicable to the P1 as well, and presumably be implemented on both platforms as they're developed. I think the P1X is an exciting new product that addresses many of the complaints about the P1, and will give those who were disappointed with the P1 a real chance of having a device that makes them happy. Also, ever onward and upward. Grow or die is how it works. I'm glad to see what looks like growth after a very rough year thanks to CONTROL-19. -
Pro1 X Qwerty Layout (Not Shifted)
silversolver replied to Craig's topic in Pro1 - Thoughts & questions
I agree with 1.5 of Craig's suggestions. :P I think only the right slant arrow should be right alt; the left one should stay available for accented characters in an INTL layout. Fx should be used for \| instead of SYM, which is used occasionally, and yes, by me. Also, the right CTRL and ALT should be swapped; they'd be backwards compared to a PC keyboard as proposed. MORE EDIT: Now I read @matf's comment and agree with him so a big bah humbug to me LOL -
Awwww, thanks for the mention. I actually just got back here because I finally got mine! I'm using it right this very moment. :) I do live in the US, and in spite of the hot mess, I'm still glad I do. I will be glad when the election is over. Also I agree fully with the restrictions unfairly impacting f(x)tec's ability to keep their promises. Have a good night, and I'm glad Hello likes your klack. :)

PRO1, LineageOS 16.0 Official Builds: Discussion
silversolver replied to tdm's topic in General Discussion
I don't have to reboot to recovery to sideload? That's interesting. If I don't it goes in the inactive slot, but if I do it goes to the active one, or both? I'm cornfused. -

Thank you for the clarification. Sideloading the firmware is settings and data non-destructive I assume. -

So I'm now using the klack with LOS to post this. I have not activated it yet since I can't make any major changes to my routine yet and Verizonk is a butthole. I've pretty much decided to use my D4 until it Zonk kills it because I hate change and am still learning klack ergonomics. I have found some things about the hardware that I wish were different, but nothing that I can't accommodate. This is not the place to discuss that. I have not found any deficiencies in the software, although so far I'm only using it as a UMPC. I do wonder if the updater works, or is just an unused feature at -
RIP Pro1 - Caught a corner after a short fall

In what country is your business located? Were you the guy who rescued a device that someone bricked and returned? -
I do not use a spam filter for the very simple reason that there is no spam filter that doesn't occasionally block valid messages. I get blocked by GoofMail all the time, in spite of never having sent spam ever. On the plus side I'm using my klack to post this! Still getting used to the ergonomics but loving the experience overall.

I just received mine today and after using LOS on my Droid 4 for many years, I was shocked, dismayed, and disgusted to find that Google was in every corner of my new device! I came here to find the solution, and haven't been disappointed. LOS on P1 coming soon to a desk near me. :) -
I GOT IT!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!! My birthday present to myself from last year arrived before my birthday this year! :P
-
You may regret that, depending on how literally some people interpret it......LOL

I was going to drop the subject, but here we go again....one thing that I find completely and utterly disgusting is that in all of the news discussion, and all of the chatter everywhere, I had heard exactly NOTHING about wellness or nutrition, and how it can help people be better prepared to fight pathogens, until @Stucadoor2 mentioned it. NOBODY has said to take vitamins, C or otherwise. NOBODY has said to eat fresh vegetables and quality meats, both of which help the immune system. NOBODY has said to lay off alcohol or sugar, even though those are immunosuppressive. Nobody has suggested exer

But if you buy @Anssi Hannula some beer, I'll bet it will suddenly work correctly on LOS too. :)

I believe you are correct now that I think about it a bit more. My dad had a Sprint phone back in the mid 90s, and their digital service didn't quite reach to our house, and the handset would roam to an analog tower, which I now remember was not a Sprint one. I used to lock the phone in analog when out with mom and not in town.....that was a big phone bill. The Dad was not amused. :P

This sounds like a physical glitch in the digitizer. I get this from time to time with my Droid 4 as well, and turning off the screen and wiping it on my pants has so far resolved it every time. If it is persistent and/or stubborn, I'd definitely see about getting it warranty replaced once things get back to normal in China. If you don't wait until then, you'll likely be without it for some time.

Random nugget for perspective. From https://www.worldometers.info/ Quick facts: Every year an estimated 290,000 to 650,000 people die in the world due to complications from seasonal influenza (flu) viruses. This figure corresponds to 795 to 1,781 deaths per day due to the seasonal flu. Sources and info: Seasonal flu death estimate increases worldwide - CDC Up to 650 000 people die of respiratory diseases linked to seasonal flu each year - World Health Organization (WHO)

Only by buying Nextel. Pretty sure they went straight from AMPS to CDMA with their home-grown network.
-
The Nextel iDEN used a custom TDMA system (time division multiple access) and worked well for what it was. However, from Wikipedia, "Sprint Nextel provided iDEN service across the United States until its iDEN network was decommissioned for additional LTE network capacity on 30 June 2013." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDEN I guess all those cool NexTel handsets are museum pieces now.....I had wondered, but not been curious enough to look LOL.

This is perhaps what scares me the most. The response is increasingly looking like totalitarianism, and there are places in the the world where that doesn't play well. I am very concerned about the real possibility that civil unrest, or civil war, may be triggered by what will certainly be considered by many to be massive government overreach. Suffice it to say that many do not consider the scenario described in that translated paragraph to be a utopia; they consider it to be a repressed psychological prison.

If it makes you feel better, he lives in the UK, not China, although he is of Chinese descent. :) Be well, and thanks for all the warm wishes. I have said many times that I believe the fears are very much greater than the actual danger. Your mother is definitely in the age group that needs to be very cautious, but fear is not helpful....it undermines the immune system, and causes us to think less rationally than we otherwise would. Breathe deeply, and think positively, and the world becomes a better place.

I appreciate your perspective, and wanted to make a few brief remarks on a few minor things, quoted above. I have long contended (based on scientific evidence) that the actual protection offered by the influenza vaccines is very, very limited, due to the nature of the virus, and how quickly it changes. I firmly believe that most of the benefit is placebo effect, which is a very real benefit.....if you think it will help you, it does, at least a little. A positive mental attitude is the best thing you can do for your health. Ergo, "vaccinate" with saline, don't tell people that's all it is, and

Good work! That would point to a bug in the wifi driver, and i can certainly see where other people with different habits might find it intermittently as well.
