I'll just disable the fingerprint sensor entirely. Problem solved. :)

While that's possibly true, it's still a silly thing for them to have done if true. That would be much like making cars that won't go faster than 75MPH (130KPH) just because doing so is illegal in most places. You make a tool, and what people do with it later is on them. Very rarely do courts hold opinions diverse to this.

It's a long shot that anyone will know this here, but maybe @Erik does. I placed my order after the 650 shekel phone had gone the way of the dodo. I think it was sometime in November. Is this order likely to be included in this pre-CNY batch or delivered some time after the hangover subsides? :P I'm not going to be upset either way, but am curious. We humans have a strange obsession with predicting the future. :)

What are we defining as large file transfers, exactly? At 480mbps, copying 1GB takes 20-30 seconds depending on your USB controller--no, they're not created equal! I can move tons of junk in a few minutes. Makes me think of this: https://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1995/08/17

Oh wow. That's very minimalist. I'm a dude, and I like to think I'm a man's man, but I've got WAY more shoes than that. I guess it's because I have to function in professional circles, outdoor activities, some of which are pretty hard work, and 6 MONTHS OF WHITE FLAKES TRYING TO BURY ME because I'm an idiot and live in Northern Michigan. ROFL!

Perhaps I wasn't clear. ZRAM creates a virtual swapspace (used by the kernel as extra RAM) which is backed by system RAM, and stuff going into it is compressed to save space. I created a TRUE swapspace as a file on my SD card and use that instead of ZRAM. A 256MB swap file gives about the same amount of additional usable RAM but without the additional CPU overhead of ZRAM (no compression, just I/O) and my phone is much more stable that way. I used to get random reboots every few days at most; I can't think of when I had one with a page file. One time I forgot and yanked the SD card; that predi

Much. :) I installed the SafeStrap version of TWRP, then LineageOS (Android 7.1) and I also switch it from ZRAM (RAM compression via swap protocol) to true swap on the SD card at bootup. This can be automated but I haven't bothered.

FX Tec response time on emails requesting a refund.

In what other company do the directors go to the factory and make product because they want their customers to get their devices sooner? I love these people! -
Personally I see no advantage to 10 over 9, but those who wish to use Desktop mode certainly would differ with me on this. Thank you for sharing your experiment!

MediaTek? Like Ralink? Like they built a phone out of a router chip? 😂😂 That doesn't sound like a formula for long support life LOL! I haven't liked any recent portrait device. Most recent was my Treo 700p, which I used until 2015 or so. It was held in portrait to work in landscape (albeit 4:3 not 16:9.) However, to each their own.

How open is it? Bootloader unlockable for instance?

@netman What do the signs portend? 😅

Because he's joined the assume-the-worst bandwagon.

Ya, nope. I'll just not give root access to questionably-sourced code. Realistically, it's unbelievable how bad the security flaws in most devices are. It's the dumb people touching the screen! 😒 @VaZso might have an extra device soon that he'd potentially sacrifice to science. 😂

Oooh, how's it running? I might like a copy of your build! I'm still dailying a D4!

Yep, I hate that you cut in line. I hate that some lawyer presumably put F(x)tec in a bad position and made it possible. I'm sure you will get your original money back. What with people out for the holidays and now admins in factories instead of offices, I'm sure it's just a delay. Do know that the system resets your position in line when you send another message, so patience is more than just a virtue; it's necessary if you wish to get a response at all. Also, I'm glad that you like the device. People who have already received their devices and like them is the only reason there has -
I've always said that the curved screen was a mistake, but it may have been inevitable; my understanding is that they couldn't find a supplier for anything else since that is the current fashion trend (and yes, it is all about fashion.) I despise working in portrait. This is why I don't daily drive a pristine and perfectly-functioning PRIV I own. I still use a Droid 4 as my daily driver. I bought the PRIV to replace it, but couldn't accept the portrait keyboard. I work in landscape almost exclusively. I take the phone out of my pocket and open the keyboard almost 100% of the time unless i

I'm still using one as a daily driver and I'm not alone. :) EDIT: I misread that. My daily driver is a Droid 4. It is 8 years old. I do still have a Droid 1 and used a (different) Droid 1 as a daily driver until 2014 (when it was 6 years old) and continued to use another one for non-phone tasks until 2016 (when it was 8 years old.) I still have a Droid 1 serving alarm clock duty right now. It's now 12 years old and still works. Ish. :)

Sure looks like an add-on misbehaving to me. You may have to go into applications and force stop them one by one until the box leaves, and then you'll know what's spawning it. EDIT: it could also be a glitch in the rotation prompt. It shouldn't be presenting at all because auto rotate is on, but for some reason it's still half-presenting.

Well-played. :)

Turns out I misremembered. However, my point still stands that I have had zero stability issues with it, even with the bloat running. I suspect yours has a bad RAM chip that occasionally spits garbage at the CPU and crashes it.

Not being able to press certain buttons at the same time is a known limitation of the keyboard driver which has already been corrected by @netman who has provided the solution for us to apply manually and also provided it to F(x)tec to include in an update, which he believes they will do soon. As for the other, I read the whole forum and I haven't heard of this either. I don't need a video to believe that it's really happening though. LOL I have heard of this issue on other devices, including Windows PCs, under certain circumstances.

Realists. :(

OH! Well then. I guess eternal vigilance will be needed on the part of the stock users.

I hope you're incorrect. I hope he's awash in new orders, and every wave that goes out results in a huge wave of new orders from people who saw the others!
