  1. I like the approach you had there. The mechanism seems very stable, exactly like the Droid 4. Was this a bluetooth keyboard included in a case or did you build that yourself?
  2. Thank you guys! If anybody wants to rebuild this setup, feel free to ask any questions here or via PM. I'll report how it works as a daily driver in a few months but right now I'm very optimistic. The keyboard feels better than my Pro1 which is already quite worn out. I personally also like that you don't always hit the display when using the top row of the keyboard and you have actual F1-F12 keys.
  3. So I ended up building my own phone. Backstory: A few of you know me for my hardware modding adventures. I've replaced the broken USB port with a new port. I've then removed the fingerprint sensor to replace it with a secondary USB port for a more comfortable landscape mode. I filed away some parts of the display mount to make it more durable and I was about to replace the battery while reusing the old BMS. I did all of that to make my Pro1 work as I wouldn't want to live without a keyboard phone. Sadly, the issues didn't stop. The camera quality is bad, it's horr
  4. This assumes that they don't lie to us in any ways. It seems way more realistic that the company is close to bankrupcy and therefore aims to sell new devices in external shops instead of sending out the phones that were already paid. It doesn't even need to be greedyness but maybe they simply ran out of money. Almost the complete team of FxTec were fired, and they rather start new campaigns and sell the phone (for less money) in some external shops instead of fulfilling their orders of 2-3 years ago.
  5. I think, the only effect I got was that the completely broken AGPS was relaunched. My GPS is still horrible and I placed a secondary phone in my car just for navigation. I'm starting to dislike the Pro1 since there are no parts for it. I repaired the first USB port as it stopped working. I added a secondary USB port at the place where the fingerprint sensor was for more reliability (it's also much more comfortable in landscape mode). I ordered multiple displays to get a few ones which don't have big black dots/patches in it - and there are no more displays available. I even contacted th
  6. You don't need the fingerprint sensor for normal use. I have removed it and replaced it by a secondary USB C port since the location is much better in landscape mode. Just use a different method to unlock your phone...
  7. I'm very sorry to hear that! I've received my five ordered batteries around two or three weeks ago and they seem to be intact. They are exactly the same size as the FxTec battery so they are the right ones. I haven't found time to replace the battery yet though.
  8. Thank you guys @Name_not_avail and @claude0001 for your suggestions and explanations, they were a huge help. I edited gps.conf using Root Explorer, which is a file explorer where you can mount the system files to be writable (=changeable). I've tried a few things but it feels that editing the file alone already fixes faulty GPS. Since my phone still has poor GPS accuracy (which wasn't the case before), I'll try some different settings discussed here and in the other thread of Claude to see if that affects the GPS signal strength. If I find anything, I'll post it here!
  9. So it's been a day aaand... something worked! I've edited the gps.conf file a few times but later ended up using the old file I've had before. After every change I restarted and now I've waited a few hours to let the phone reload agps. Somehow it works now and I finally get a GPS fix again! The accuracy varies between 10 and 30 metres but it seems to be enough for Google maps. I'll continue experimenting a bit with the settings but I am very thankful for you guys for helping me so far. Especially @EskeRahn was a huge help with his almighty forum knowledge.
  10. Thank you both for your suggestions. I've managed to edit the gps.conf file using Root explorer and at least I get the satellite overview again. Sadly, no 3D fix yet. Since all satellites are displayed with low signal, it might be an antenna issue anyways. Sadly, so far I haven't found the connection of the GPS antenna (as seen in the disassembly guides postet from MonCon) to the phone internals. But I'll further look into it in the next days.
  11. Some people got this fixed by a software update. Do you have LineageOS ~18/19 installed?
  12. Does nobody know where the gps sensor is located?
  13. Thank you @EskeRahn for merging the threads. I couldn't find anything while searching the forum. I've had great GPS signal all the time. Never had any issues with delays or anything, it was always a strong and good signal. It wouldn't matter if inside or outside. From one day to another, it basically stopped working (outside and inside). The signal is extremely poor and Google Maps only manages to get my location every 5-30 minutes for a few seconds. I currently navigate swiping over my display and checking, where my route goes next... What I've tried so far: - GPS Off / On
  14. Hey there, since a few days, I have huge issues with my GPS signal and it seemingly get worse. I am expecting either interference with some other component, a broken or detached antenna (if it uses an antenna) or a broken GPS receiver. What I have done is to delete and clear all GPS assist data and cache from all apps that use GPS. Where could I start troubleshooting? Does anybody know where the GPS sensor is located so I can take a closer look?
  15. I've ordered two used phones from ebay and from here so far and both worked fine. It's not a perfect phone but I've never had issues with calls, network and so on. My only two, though very essential complains are that there are basically no spare parts and they are super intransparent with shipping. Every now and then I consider building some phone case with a raspberry pi keyboard but I haven't found a good solution for that yet.
  16. Hey there, does anybody have pictures with descriptions of each part and the antennas? I'd especially be interested in the locations of the orientation sensor, wifi cabling (and antenna?) and GPS.
  17. That's what I don't like about this site. You don't know what you pay, you don't know what you get. If it wasn't possible to pay with PayPal, I wouldn't even be sure IF I got it. Refund doesn't seem to be an option either. I requested it, they changed the shipping method and now I can't request it anymore. I ended up paying the 36 USD for air mail which totals to about 60 USD in total. For five batteries, that's okay. It makes sense to order a big quantity next time and maybe resell it over ebay. But first let's try if those batteries are actually any useful.
  18. You are right. DHL costs 90 USD, EMS 70 USD and air mail 40 USD shipping fee. Still a lot for a very shady process. Also, my packaging only seems to weigh 100g (it's listed as 700g in total). I don't want to be missing out on my stuffed animal! If I were ordering illegal drugs online, this would be how I'd imagine it to be delivered.
  19. Funny... they want 90USD shipping fee from me for shipping to Germany. I will try to refund my 20 USD.
  20. You'll have to solder the old circuit to the new battery. Shouldn't be too hard to do, just make sure to be quick so you don't overheat the battery. Active cooling is an option if you are worrying. There are some laptop batteries that break once their circuits are disconnected from the battery cells so you have to simulate the voltage while soldering. But I would be very surprised if that'd be the case here as well. I've ordered a few units as well and as I have a broken battery here, I'll be happy to try the first time. Also, kudos to @Tomatoman29 and @CornholioGSM who brought us tha
  21. You found a battery that has the same dimensions as needed for the FxTec. That's great, sadly it's sold out. Now, there are more batteries around but they have different capacities (and therefore dimensions). There's two options now: - One seller claims the wrong capacity (they lie about the batteries all the time) and the Alibaba version actually has the same dimensions and capacity. - Both batteries and all the others have different dimensions and it's a lottery to buy one of them. About the labels... it's great that you found out that some manufacturers label their bat
  22. No, the original battery seems to be very small but you have space for a larger one. That's why bigger batteries are sold (given the numbers from those chinese sites are real). https://de.ifixit.com/Anleitung/RK61+Battery+Replacement/142864 However, since all the batteries have different capacity labels, they might as well have different dimensions, too. You can probably stuff a lot of battery into a keyboard. About the second battery: There's no place for 15mm more length if you want wifi, a microphone and the main charging port. 2mm more width would mean that you had to remove the al
  23. This would certainly be a good fit (it's sold out though) if the measurements are accurate. Sadly, the keyboad is rated for 1400mAh so other batteries may be smaller than this offer. Still, this is closer to our destination than we ever were before.
  24. It was probably a mistake and meant to be sorted out... Maybe they should hire a repairman in the US for repairs over there?
  25. #38339 October 5, 2019 Refunded (I found a used one in the web) #591** May 18, 2021 Processing Both QWERTZ. I thought I was waiting long but I guess I'm only in the middle of the waiting list. And seeing this, it seems that the converted orders were screwed up somehow.
