Right, point taken, and my point was that if one aims to also not be so thin skinned then everyone benefits. Again, these aren't mutually exclusive points. However, I think it's time to shelf this and get onto the LOS goodies! 👍

Never a truer word spoken! I can guarantee with 99.99% accuracy that this is EXACTLY what has transpired. It doesn't excuse the lack of transparency, but it certainly explains how they got in over their heads in short order. There is no conspiracy taking place, they are doing their best (at producing and shipping), it's going to take some time, but I'm certain we will all have a phone (assuming one doesn't cancel), in reasonably near term, that will be one of the best phones to be made in the past 7 (or so) years. To those in a state of panic, my suggestion is to calm down, relax, take

Would be nice; if it were only that easy!

To me you were as clear as day. Since your definition of Christmas is when the phone arrives, I was just stating that, if I were you (preorder in the US), I wouldn't plan on celebrating Christmas on the 25th of December (hence the quotes around the word).
-
Sounds like a plan! I don't see it as a show-stopper, or even close; just saying that there was a genuine concern. It was Waxberry himself who said "DON'T buy it!" better would have been to say what you said!
-
Yep. Just saying that it would have to be inferred as it wasn't explicitly stated. At this point, if I were f(x)tec, I wouldn't promise things I couldn't guarantee (or even promise things I think I could guarantee 😉). There are still many factors in play, especially getting through US customs (as already was found out the hard way) for those expecting them here in the US prior to Christmas.

Nope, don't distrust disabling it by ADB. Agree that would work, just that most people don't know how to do it.

Silversolver does have a really good point. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that AdUps has been, and still can be, problematic. However, this is yet another reason to block OTA updates (although Adups is already in the stock firmware), and more reason to use a custom ROM. -Just saying.
-
Gotta say I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment; however, in this case, "Christmas" happening by the 25th (for those of us in the USA) is a bit ambitious at this point.

You've heard of under promise and over deliver, right? They did too, just got it a bit confused and thought it was over promise and under deliver. LOL. Those in manufacturing learn very quickly not to make promises until well after post production. This is their first time, it's all a learning experience for them, and they have tackled a giant. Thus, I know it's frustrating, but they are going to need time. I just wish they would be a bit more forthcoming with where they are, and where they are hoping to be a couple of weeks out (about the best one can hope for, as anything else is

This is excellent because he mentioned 7% (and I would still like to know about those savings accounts), but he got his 7% plus anohter 0.15%. Good call!
-
Heck yes! Please tell me where there is a savings account paying 7% these days. I'll be right there depositing!

I had been wondering about this, and if it was going to pose a problem. Thanks again for everything, your plate certainly is full.

You are THE man! Thank you so much for all your hard work! From personal experience, I know how much time and effort is involved tackling something this complex.
-
In the EU, I would GUESS you have a chance of by Christmas. Just depends on how many they can get out the door in the next couple of weeks. As I understand it (which is far from at an expert level, lol), all those with preorders got one of two emails. Yes, I THINK that's exactly what it means! Might have been the light leaking issue, might have been other issues, who knows? Not any of us because they aren't being transparent (which is why it wasn't mentioned).
-
I THINK this is much more simple that your making it. They way over estimated how may good phones would be able to be produced and sent out in the second batch. They got out what they could (en route to Hong Kong) last week. The others need to just keep patiently waiting. As I read things, you should have received an email last week (probably Friday). It would have either said stock was assigned, or let you know they had problems fulfilling all of the preorders, and they are working as fast as they can to get the rest out. When that will happen is anyone's guess; however, if you are

They couldn't ever turn off 4 because 66 encompasses all of 4 plus the extra 25 Mhz, so all good there. However, a Verizon engineer (from my local NOC) told me that in AWS reliant areas (like mine) it's only a matter of time before they heavily populate with 66 sites. It won't mean much to me (or any of us) this year, but ONLY because CDMA is still working. However, there is no denying we are on the clock. If everything holds, by Jan 2021 that'll be the end of it! Good question about it possibly being enabled via a firmware update. I don't know the answer to that as I'm not famil

I agree (and think you are very wise to give them as little as possible), but, as I'm certain you already know, the far majority of folks are walking around with blinders on and in absolute denial of what is taking place. This will always be the case because they so badly want to believe it isn't happening that they choose to ignore the facts and what is provable. History shows this has always been the case. I know a guy whose son "believed" in Santa at the age of fifteen. How is this possible? Same idea, he just wanted to believe so badly and ignored the provable. Again, to each their o

Not certain how bold the twitter post is... I don't read anything explicitly saying it's the countdown till you getting your preordered phone before Christmas. Instead, that the countdown to Christmas (whether you get your phone or not, lol) has started. 23 more days and counting down; again, this is the case regardless of whether you get a phone or not. The only guarantee in the tweet is that Christmas will arrive on Christmas (we'll let's hope so!), not that phones will arrive.

I find it interesting as well, thanks for the poll. However, why not rephrase it to be something like (choose only one): Nothing: Haven't Received any stock assigned email as of December 2nd First Batch: Received stock assigned email for first batch and received phone First Batch: Received stock assigned email for first batch but didn't receive first batch phone <---May not be needed First Batch: Received stock assigned email for first batch, didn't receive first batch phone, and then received a second stock assigned email Second Batch: Didn't receive first bat

Well said on all accounts. I have a friend who has been manufacturing electronic items at factories in China for about ten years now. Over the years, I have helped him come up with many of the designs, and there's one thing that is certain, and that's nothing is certain, lol. I can't count how many times, over the years, he missed deadlines and was blindsided by unforeseen events. Every time he missed a deadline, he was only really hurting his bottom line as it delayed getting the newer products to the market. His customers were very content using the latest generation (his products are n

Just for clarification... I wasn't saying, or implying, that we, as a society, should return in every way to the Good Ol' Days. Not at all, I said it was my belief that it would benefit society if we did so "in this regard," meaning everyone not being so thin skinned and offended by every little thing. This is case in point. I don't think it would have done any good for me to have become offended by your remarks. Intent is also important, and often forgot in these situations. However, your and my concepts aren't mutually exclusive! Mine (just stated) along with your idea of us "strive[in

I just realized that, and edited. Thanks, got it!
