Pro1, Ghost touches and other digitizer and display issues
hka replied to michal@hanu.la's topic in Support
Sounds same as me, installed an app called Partial Screen to block effected parts of the screen. But not really trusting third party screen overlay so not entering anything sensitive on the touch screen with it on. But it made the phone useable while waiting for replacement screen from fxtec. -

Try turning on "Show taps" in the developer options (accessible from Settings/System after clicking the build number in About a few times). If it is static build up you should see random activations I think, if problem with the touch screen like some other (me included) hass experienced, it will probably only be along a few rows/columns of the screen. -
I have noticed this on stock, but have always just assumed I accidently pressed the power button to turn the screen on.

Ah I see, yeah I am in contact with support, will have to see were that leads. Temporary solution is to use an app I found called "Partial screen" it supports putting touch masks over the screen, but they are not transparent so now I have an 8 mm high ribbon over the screen where I cant see, would be better if it was just dead and not phantom touches.

My phone has developed the same problem 😞 Was it easy to replace the screen?

Now after 59 days and 11 hours of uptime my phone got a spontaneous reboot.

I can't send or receive MMS messages, usually to fix that I need to modify the access point settings, and those settings are usually found at something like Settings/Network & Internet/SIM Cards But not for stock firmware on the pro1 apparently. Does anyone know where the access point settings are?

Nice! Looks good, did you have to adjust the size any to get a good fit when printing in PLA? I haven't had time to do any more testing on my side.
-
Yeah, I measured the size of the plug on my earphones, so it is 6 mm in diameter in the case, but easy to modify 🙂

Print finished, but it was a bit to small and stiff so it cracked in the top. But here are some images. It is very hard to get a good print with thin walls (about 0.5 mm thick), I think next time I will print with thicker walls to make it more robust.

Started print this morning, 10h to go still:p

Yah it could probably work, but some testing needed. I think that it might be possible to get it to stay almost without lip by printing it slightly to small. But I need to find a good mixture of resin to get a good amount of stretch (using Monocure flex 100 and regular transparent resin). I will try making a part for the top as well!

I did some more adjustments now based on the test print, should be quite OK. If anyone wish to test and print it: https://aelv.se/hka/ul/FxTecPro1_case.stl And the files for modifying it are here: https://aelv.se/hka/ul/modelFiles.7z I can post it to shapeway when I have tested printing it and is satisfied with it, but seemed expensive, $22 for the cheapest option and about $50 for TPU.

All parts test printed, I will do some adjustments tomorrow and post the design 😃 Then I will try and print it in one piece during the weekend. Th msla I am using is just so slow, to print it in one piece I need to print it standing and it takes about 1h/cm.
-
Yeah that is probably a good idea, I'll update that. When I have something that prints ok I will post all files. The entire thing did not fit in my printer, but I printed the top part for testing and the camera hole is correct (camera position is actually visible in scan), but other holes need some adjustment.

Well, I did a quick test file yesterday as well, might give printing it a try this evening:)

I got a rough 3d scan of it as a starting point for making a case. Here is the obj file if anyone is interested: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/uee2exvq1k9l0g8/AADEZnXLLar2HUjdHvcaj3O1a?dl=0 It got some artifacts due to the fact that I had to cover it in tape for the scan to work (can't scan non-reflective black surfaces or surfaces with specular reflections).

I read about some thoughts about making a 3D printed case in another thread. I have thought about it as well, so instead off bringing that thread off topic (and making stuff hard to find) lets have a new thread for 3d printed case designs. A first question. Does anyone have a good 3D model of the Pro1?

Main issue with the camera seems to be that the lens they used is quite bad. Lots of distortion. Test taking a picture of a calibration pattern. Sharp in the middle but quite blurry and distorted at the edges. Sure this can be compensated for to some extent by software, but a good sensor isn't worth much if the optics in front of it are bad.

I have a dock with HDMI out and two usb ports (Aten US3310), using that one the phone charges while showing HDMI. External mouse and keyboard works fine as well. In portrait mode there are lots of black padding to the left and right of the image on the screen. In landscape there is padding at top and bottom. It would be nice if there was some way to get apps to zoom out when using external monitor so everything is reasonable sized.

Ahh that did the trick! Second question, it makes a sound when reading the NFC tag when in Do Not Disturb mode. Can that sound be turned off?
-
Has anyone tried the nfc stuff on the pro1? I have a yubikey 5 nfc that I wish to use for auth for password managers etc. but nothing happens when I touch it to the pro1 (using the yubic authenticator). Using NFC Tools or similar apps from the appstore I cant read any nfc tag.

After another reboot it works on my device as well!

Did a quick search and didn't find anything but didn't read this thread in detail so maybe this is known. Physical keyboard doesn't work for entering WIFI passwords, virtual keyboard works fine.
