Discussion and testing on features and known&potential issues
lzb replied to rejujacob's topic in Bug Reports
Wasn't sure where else to put this, but I have a bit of a nitpick (and sorry if this was already mentioned elsewhere): the wifi icon has the two little UL/DL arrow icons, but when the "Do Not Disturb" icon is displayed, it shifts left and right as the wifi arrow icons come on and off. It is annoying AF. I mean, could that not have been done better? Is this something that can be fixed? -
Paging @EskeRahn 🙂

Actually, I am wondering about this. I got the update OTA, and it broke Google Pay. When the new one is pushed, will it be identified as new in the Software Update system? Or will I need to download it manually as a ZIP and apply it myself?

On the flip side, one nice thing about SwiftKey is that it interacts with the physical keyboard, giving you suggestions as you type that you can tap on and write faster. I guess kinda losing out either way...

*Captain Kirk scream* SWIFTKEEEYYYYYYY!!!!!!

OK, so maybe I missed this, but I am not actually sure how to use the keyboard shortcuts in the built-in launcher. I found where to assign apps to the keys, but nothing I try actually seems to do anything. Every time I try, the Google app just comes up and starts searching the key I typed. I realize there's information spread around the forum, but I can't seem to find what I am looking for. Since this doesn't actually go to documentation, maybe it would be beneficial to create community documentation that consolidates everything, similar to what @EskeRahn is suggesting (which is probably an id

@david thanks, it looks pretty good. I tried out the Extra Tall Clip Case from Nite Ize, but I just felt like it wasn't for me (By which I mean I don't think any belt clip case would be for me, not that the Nite Ize specifically wasn't)

Just to follow up on my previous post: Phone pairs just fine with my car over Bluetooth, and Android Auto works via USB cable Android Wear works, but it took a couple of tries to pair correctly with the watch Regarding wi-fi calling, it is working after going to the Phone app (NOT "Network & Internet" in the phone settings) > Settings (three dots in top right) > Calling accounts > tap the SIM card at the top with <your carrier> (in my case, "T-Mobile") > Wi-Fi calling > Set to On with "Wi-Fi preferred" (thanks again to @SirBaconIII for pointing me in

I use Google Voice as my main number, and I hardly use my T-Mo number so it's not a huge issue. GV supports VVM in the app and on the web. But coming from a Pixel, it kinda sucks to lose the native VVM and spam filtering for my T-Mo number. I do have the T-Mo VVM app, primarily to clear out the spam

Well then. Color me embarrassed. @SirBaconIII had it exactly right. My previous experience with wi-fi calling had it in the network settings (if you do a search in settings it will actually show up as a result), although I did look around the phone app at one point but I guess I didn't look hard enough (and I didn't dig deep enough here either). Wi-fi calling is now active. Thanks everybody 🙂 (Now if I could get visual voicemail working through the phone app that would be the cherry on top :P)

Maybe I need to do something more drastic, like reset the network settings

When I told them there seems to be a disconnect between what I am seeing here and what they're telling me, I got this: They then proceeded to try and sell me a device lol
-
I told them that I moved my SIM card to a new device, and that it was my understanding that they needed to push something from their end to enable wi-fi calling. They gave me the standard spiel that they can't support non-T-Mobile-branded devices, and yada yada. Then they said to make sure that my E911 address is correct, which it is (the address they send emergency services to if you dial 911 and hang up. This needs to be set separately with prepaid accounts because they don't have your address on file). That's about it. They said the phone needs to be able to support it, which I can tell by

Welp, no dice. I can't get them to help me. Kinda sucks 😞
-
I am talking to them now, and am still getting nowhere. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I have a prepaid plan? Although it worked in my Pixel 2 XL, so I don't think that's it.

Followup: I purchased the Extra Tall Clip Case, since it had the right dimensions and is rotatable (although it's technically a vertical opening). It's pretty big and bulky; I haven't actually tried it yet but it doesn't look like something I would want hanging on my belt on a regular basis. @davidcan you maybe post a few pics? Do you feel yours is bulky?

I apologize for resurrecting a slightly outdated thread, but wi-fi calling is not working for me, when all indications in this forum suggest it can if I talk to T-Mobile, which I tried, and got nowhere. Do you have any more info on this? Am I missing something? Is there some magic phrase I have to use with the customer service rep? I have a T-Mobile prepaid account, and wi-fi calling worked just fine on my Pixel 2 XL.

Got the phone a couple of days earlier than expected. I'm on T-Mobile prepaid. I have confirmed that the phone is indeed using LTE (using the LTE Discovery app) despite the "4G" in the menu bar. I too encountered the visual voicemail problem @jcz95 had, which is weird because it worked fine on my Pixel 2 XL (and the Google phone app on both devices are identical - same version). I downloaded T-Mo's VVM app instead to compensate (I am a Google Voice user anyway, so it's not a huge loss, but it's a bit annoying) As far as wi-fi calling, I see an odd phenomenon where I can searc
