nmelnick 3
Correct -- community ports do not get Android support. I feel like this is the first phone I'd be interested in using Sailfish on, but it'll have to wait until I can run a few Android apps as well. :)
Hook 3,015
I would order the phone as soon as the first lineage release appears. Will the lineage release appear in September 2019, too? The only thing we know about Lineage is that it is being "worked on" by Lineage devs, not in house by F(x) I don't believe. I would not expect it to be an option soon as I think they would need a final version of the phone to work with. I will jump on it as soon as it is ready, but I think it will be a ways down the road. However, don't mistake me for someone who actually knows the answer. Just my guess. :-)
SkobyMobil 0
Hello, if I understood everything here correctly then the manufacturer does not support other operating system. It's just talk, all blah, blah? You should buy the phone on suspicion. And if it goes stupid, then do the manufacturer the mobile phone behind too. What do I get in the box? Are there already current photos? Greetings and fun Andreas
netman 1,424
if I understood everything here correctly then the manufacturer does not support other operating system. It’s just talk, all blah, blah? They are leaving the bootloader unlockable and have provided sailfish and lineage developers with pre-production units to help them already port their stuff to Pro1, that is not just "blah, blah". Warranty and guarantees about the functioning of the other OSes is something they understandably can not provide, but not actively fighting alternative systems is already way better than most phones you can buy. If you want you can see already work on sailfish happening: https://github.com/sailfish-on-fxtecpro1/
netman 1,424
Also the keyboard is shown working on sailfish
Craig 1,435
A month ago there was a LineageOS screenshot https://twitter.com/chenliangchen/status/1148357734204616704/photo/1. SailfishOS seems to be coming along but still issues... https://github.com/sailfish-on-fxtecpro1/droid-config-t5/issues
Craig 1,435
I tried pinging tdm on twitter for a LOS update, so maybe he'll respond. I'm not sure if Chen has asked them to remain quiet or not tho, seems the SFOS developers are communicating openly now, so hopefully LOS developers feel free to communicate too :)
SkobyMobil 0
Hello, that's good news. Let's see how far I get it. I attach great importance to an alternative system. I use my beloved Siemens ME45 for years. I have been searching for a long time Smartphone that is open. Here I might have the option to install only one OS - and then only the app's really needed. Without all this garbage, nobody really needs. 650 € for a smartphone is a lot of money. I want the risk of disappointment like that keep it low as possible. I am a hobbyist / programmer. I can not do everything, but it would be a lot certainly possible. Then I will wait once for the delivery of the "QWERTZ". Many thanks for your help. Greetings and fun Andreas

Parhelion 114
Whilst we are (more or less patiently) waiting for devices to be delivered, anything new on progress from the OS developers? I dunno if we can take this hint from Adam Pigg that the port is usable? I for one would take usable alternative OS as a good compensation for the delay on delivery.. mv 85
I am sure more info will come after folks start receiving them, but wondering if there is any update on an official version from Jolla.

In general I think the official version seems unlikely (atleast currently). Jolla has mentioned that they will release some of their plans about future devices SoonTM (Currently almost all devices with official support are in EOL, so you cannot really buy them reliably). Though having a good community port would not hurt the efforts of a future official support. Or maybe if there is enough interest, people could revive efforts to bring SFdroid / Anbox to the device.
Craig 1,435
You can get an idea of SailfishOS Community Port status by checking out their known issues bug tracker... https://github.com/sailfish-on-fxtecpro1/droid-config-t5/issues Edited October 31, 2019 by Craig 1

The community port would be fine for a period, but as I use SailfishOS as a daily driver I'd like to see them up this, they did bring the Gemini in eventually.

ksal95 227
I really wish Google wouldn't have gimped Hangouts in favor of Allo THAT GOT KILLED OFF when they could've just put those features into Hangouts instead. 🙄
