EskeRahn 5,460
I think that combining the colours will not be easy., but the combined letters could be in same colour, perhaps with different stroke, like the original idea. [attachment file=14623]
theo.hallenius 31
I personally don't care how it will look, if it's close enough to the one on N900 I'm perfectly fine, and I'm sure others will too. Just make it happen!

EskeRahn 5,460
German QWERTZ is currently sending... I expect mine tomorrow, if the ETA by UPS holds. But I would not expect anything on the Scandic layout before all the pre-orders are out, and they have handled any urgent issues reported

Thought that would only be US-QWERTY, but that it was possible to put in an order for QWERTZ. Congrats, though! Looking forward to your review (I assume you will make one 😉 )

Also, before it was said that it will take atleast 3 months to make Scandic layout available after the first batch is delived.
Waxberry 638
We are aware of the demand of Scandic-QWERTY layout. We will try to make it happen after current orders been fulfilled first. The procedure will be: Design layout - finish design file (for printing) - Calibrate printing, make sure letters are at the same position and position mark assigned on F and J correctly - Test printing - Production - Creating another SKU at factory - Onward logistics We could start with finalising the layout design first.
raphaelcno 21
I repeat my question to F(x)tec, as it was not answered in my previous post: Is it easier to produce keys with standard characters ÖØ and ÄÆ or with combined characters? Can you check my question in the Scandic layout thread? EskeRahn 5,460
But as I said before, what is suggested is REALLY close to what we can get using a black marker on a qwertZ: And then just use it with FinQWERTY, as I currently do.

Yes, that will be the solution if F(x)tec decides not to produce the Scandinavian keyboard. But I hope it will come before next summer 🙂
Prabhat 2
Hello, Initially Fx tec mentioned that, if the demands is high, there might be scandic keyboard phone by December 2019 after they fulfill all the preorders and normal availability of qwerty and qwertz layout phones. However, since the normal qwerty and qwertz preorders have not fulfill yet completely, I am afraid what is the future of scandic keyboard now. Are they still going to make scandic layout? I currently need a new phone therefore if they are going to make scandic model, I will buy a cheap 100 euros phone for few months and buy scandic pro1 later. This way I will be fine for a while and can wait until summer of 2020. Otherwise, perhaps it is better for me to buy standard qwerty pro1 right now. Can someone suggest me what should I do? Should I wait for scandic layout or go for qwerty layout? Thanks
Shilor 71
See this thread for more information 🙂 We don't know yet if there will be any scandic layouts. But if you don't want to wait for it, @EskeRahn recommends to buy a qwertZ keyboard and edit the keys: On 11/27/2019 at 2:37 AM, EskeRahn said: But as I said before, what is suggested is REALLY close to what we can get using a black marker on a qwertZ: And then just use it with FinQWERTY, as I currently do. We will be lucky if the scandic layout comes before next summer, as F(x)tec plans to wait until all existing orders have been fullfilled before they work further on the scandic layout. Pre-orders will maybe be fullfilled in February, and then there are all other orders. https://community.fxtec.com/topic/2472-any-info-on-qwertz-and-scandi-qwerty/?do=findComment&comment=34026 Edited December 5, 2019 by raphaelcno Missing last sentence and link

I would suggest to buy the cheap phone now, and then see when things have settled and the pre-orders are all delivered, If you need the device NOW we should be really optimistic to expect you could have it with either qwertY or qwertZ before Christmas. Then see what the situation is, and IF they are going to make a Scandic layout, then wait for that, alternatively buy the qwertZ variant that is REALLY close to Swedish/Finnish layout, quite close to Norwegian (öä rather than øæ), and for Danish with the last two swapped. It works just fine for me as a Dane, so should be at the least as good for you, depending on your language.

Hello, @waxberry Now a few months later I return with my question: any new info about if/when a scandi layout could be expected? Or should I just get a QWERTZ version? Albeit I really would not like to. The more and more time that goes by, the less sense the already high price makes... We are now essentially paying 650+€ for 3 year old tech apart from camera, RAM and keyboard... At this point in time, it feels like I will get a Pro² before there is a scandi pro¹

So wait for March. But could be wrong of course.
FlyingAntero 871
I would also like to know what is the current situation with Scandic layout. I believe that there are potential customers waiting for this information. @MortisAngelus Keep in mind that SD835 is better chip than newer mid range chips like SD710 or SD730 which you can find from new phones. I think that F(x)tec made a great decision when they selected SD835 and saved some cost. So you are paying less from better performance. The "high" price comes from slider and keyboard which are unique tech. Just like foldable phones cost much more than ordinary flagships. Think about it: Motrola Razr is two times more expensive but it has weaker hardware (SD710) than Pro1. 1

My problem is that you can get SD855 phones with edgeless qhd screens and tripple cameras for 500-600 dollars (or even less). But this is an off-topic discussion already discussed in another thread. (Also, I wouldnt pay that much for the razr either, because as you say that is a really weak and old fashioned chip)

I've been considering of buying F(X)tec Pro1 but I really like to know if there's a scandic (or Finnish / Swedish) layout coming or not. If yes: then I'll wait for it, if no: then I most likely will order Pro1 with QWERTZ layout.
sdx 45
As a frequent typer of Swedish, I can positively say that DE QWERTZ physical layout is "good enough" with Finqwerty. I'm sure I would be almost equally bothered to see non-swedish ÅÄÖ on the keyboard. And to make one swedish/finnish and one danish/norwegian would probably not be financially viable.
