  1. I guess for me, I could have gotten a Samsung or iPhone (yuck) to get a stellar camera. But then I wouldn't have the keyboard or the hands-on developers and a phone that won't be deprecated on the whims of my carrier. I am happy with the pics. Are they the best? Not even close. Will they do? Yes. And I will keep trying to make it better. Right now it's a matter of "I need to take this picture to remember this moment" rather than "I need to have a 5 star image"

  2. So this is a picture of a 2.5 inch tall Hello Kitty figure. This picture was taken with the Pro1 using Camera PX version 7.2.014.278150624 It was placed on a table with light from a $14 IKEA floor lamp - one of those ones that has a big light at the open top and a gooseneck arm. The gooseneck arm light was pointed at the object. The photo is unretouched. Also keep in mind that this is a low-res photo that I took using Microsoft's Snipping tool. Selling your stuff is all about composition and lighting. My phone takes aMAZING pictures. All the time. Don't blame the phone be

  4. Well, you are entitled to your opinion, and, no doubt, your frustration, but Fxtec are neither crooks nor "horrible people," as their history has proved. Not great at communicating, yes. But the phone is fantastic, you will get it (I'm guessing from the same factory run as the Spring 1Xs), and it won't matter that it doesn't have the most cutting edge specs. If you want to see if it can be changed to a 1X (which would just mean the blue casing as the only difference) or upgraded to the version with more memory , ask them via email. Can't hurt.

  5. Hello, everyone. I'm not sure should I continue an existing topic or start this one. I would like to begin with saying that I'm really impressed and appreciate F(x)tec team efforts. When a small company is willing to do what the giants abandoned, it's worthy to respect. One should carefully read this forum before making a purchase, but then I thought I had no choice if I want a phone with a keyboard. So, I placed an order when my Blackberry finally died. Order page said (and still says) about 10-12 weeks shipping . 129 days later the order still had "processing" status. Unfortunately, I c

  6. You are somewhat contradicting your enthusiastic post from above where you claimed that your Pro1 took "amazing pictures, all the time" ... πŸ˜‰ But I can agree with your main point. The camera is not best-in-class, let alone "semi-professional". It works well enough for taking casual pictures, albeit having some bugs that I accept for the greater good of having a keyboard. If the Pro1's price tag was attached to a Samsung, I would expect a much better camera. However, that is an unfair comparison. The Pro1 is produced in very small volume, and the camera is clearly not its central feature.

  7. @Hook Already answered most. I do understand your frustration. But on the "serving first", please remember that we are talking selling a mere ten(!) units of a small batch made for promoting the Pro1X. Sure they could have directly asked some in line for the regular Pro1, if they were interested to get one of these blue ones instead. AND they actually kind-of did that by giving those registered earlier access by mail than the public. But we do not know if the ten lucky buyers were in line for a Pro1 or some bought an additional one.

  8. 1) It is not the camera.... The HDR in the build in app works, as well as pictures in both high and low lights. 2) BUT they do not seem to adhere correctly with the "Camera2 API" protocol, so IF a third party app tries to access the camera through that, stitching images to get HDR, the app will not output the correct result. I have tried to report this several times, (until now without it resulting in a fix), it is clearly a pure software issue of not adhering to the Camera2 API protocol, and NOT a hardware issue, and will affect third party apps only. I see it with "Open Camera". (BTW

  10. Yes, the newest flashable version is from the link in the OP. The post hasn't been updated to change the date and the file doesn't include the date in the filename, but it is the latest version, newer than 13 Nov. It is from 06 December (I dated my copy when I downloaded it).

  11. from my pro1, running AICP BTW, I could not get the magnetic sensor thing to work, ,It reports scanCode 468 keydown flag is "8" and keyup flag is "808" might be that AICP has different keyboard mapping though

  12. From my experience, after I was clear in telling them that I don't even mind if shipping takes a year, but it really helps my brain to know roughly what month it would arrive in, they gave me a realistic estimate and it actually arrived when they said it would. My point is that, in my communication with them, they always acted in good faith and I'm sure you'll get your money back, but you may have to email them and maybe kindly tell them that there's no stress but the amount the phone cost is quite significant to you and you would need to know when you could expect it, so you can organise

  14. Indeed, and much can be gained (as others have said) by adding this or that to fix stuff, or change the entire OS. It is such a shame that it could be so much better out of the box.

  15. I believe that, in trying to speak in favour of the Pro1, you actually showcase some of the problems of its camera. What is that triangular blurry shade at the top of your picture? That looks unphysical to me, especially as, within that shade, there is again a brighter halo around the top-central red ribbon in the background. A similar bright halo is visible around the ribbon at the bottom, which actually lies within the hard shadow of the figure. The Pro1's camera has been reported to generate such artifacts under some circumstances (in HDR mode at least, see this thread). Not sure
