  2. I have been looking for a phone for some time now, but it seems that the phone market is not geared towards people with my preferences. Clearly i am not the only one since the Fx pro1 was created. It has a lot of what i want, including improved privacy and control in the OS, and a keyboard. One of my favorite phones i owned was the Microsoft Kin Two which had a great slide out keyboard. But it still is missing something that i really want, which is a compact phone option. At 154x73.6 with 6" display, the pro1 has a big foot print (by my standards). Id really prefer something with a 5" sc

  3. While an official flip case for the Pro1 would be nice, I do not think that it is strictly necessary. I bought a random flip case for the Huawei P20 Pro (this one), and it is a perfect fit for the Pro1. I cut the required apertures for USB, headphone jack, power, shutter and volume buttons into the soft shell (not using fingerprint). Done.

  4. I did the print but the design came from someone else. It still needs a few tweaks before it's ready. I don't mind printing it for anyone who's interested but I'm from Aus so the shipping cost will be something to consider. I only have the one color atm but I'm thinking of getting black as well. As for how it suits the Pro1? It's already replaced my snakehive case. I like the extra grip it provides while keeping to near the original size.

  5. Yeah, forgot about that, which is funny since I first posted that video in this forum. I didn't remember it having such a good look. That thing he is waving around in his hand, that is what I believe you get.

  6. For anyone who wants to see the display, here's a video link Go to time stamp 02:16 and you can see him holding up the display replacement

  7. It is, at the minimum, a screen plus the metal frame (they ask you for the color). So you don't have to mount the display. What else from the top half would depend on how those things are mounted to the frame, which I haven't looked at closely. If all the other things are mounted on a pcb also attached to the frame, maybe it doesn't give you that pcb. Not willing to open up my Pro1 just to find out, but it is still a lot more than just a display and saves you from having to deal with adhesive.

  8. Umm. I just emailed fxtec and they said you only get the screen?? My message: When you say screen, do you mean just a screen or the entire top half of the phone including the selfie cam, pcb, sensors, etc. Fxtec reply: The screen included in the tech bundle is just the screen on its own (in case you want or need to replace your Pro1(X) screen). So how is it any better than the elephone u screens from aliexpress? I'm confused...

  9. Spot on where I stand. And if no keyboard I too would prefer a device where can be fully used in one hand while keeping a secure grip. In my book if the device is so huge that it requires two hands, we could just as well have it with a real keyboard also. The problem with a one hand operable devise with a real keyboard is that the keyboard would become cramped... We can not have both big standard keys, and a one hand operable device.

  10. I'm like you yes. I think the pro1 is excellent, it has the portrait full keyboard I desperately wanted, and it is the only one. But a bit too big. To me the best size was the Droid4, I could easily reach the center of the keyboard with my thumbs. Nothing is perfect, and regarding my wishes, the pro1 is by far the best option.

  11. Aha - fabulous - thank you! What caught me out was that you can toggle "On-screen navigation" but also tap on the menu item itself to get to the more detailed settings. One thing that is still missing though is to add the old-school menu button, or otherwise further customize the nav bar. Is there any way to do this?

  12. I've still got my old Nokia N9 that I still use from time to time and my Jolla with TOHKBD. I keep looking at E7s on eBay but I never actually get to buy one. I'll have to have another look next payday.

  13. I believe it was for the S8+ I tried (if I remember right), the S8 is too slim. But anyway they are too elongated, and need to be cut (i was unable to do that with the tools I got, but perhaps a plasma cutter or something like that could do the trick.

  14. Fxtec has confirmed that you can use external display with Pro1-X on Ubuntu Touch even so that the chip has changed.
