Thanks for sharing this. Very interesting, in particular your typing experience with the fold3. I was not so sure about it. Interesting that the size of the screen is nearly the same when the virtual keyboard is on use on the fold3. The price difference between the two devices is also considerable, fold 3 is nearly double where I am based. Fold 3 has also s-pen capacity.

I can definately see the benefits of samsungs folded variants versus a tablet or ordinary slab. And clearly using half for a fake keyboard is likely to work much better with android than a fake keyboard on a slab. But that said I see two drawbacks. Primarily that it isn't a keyboard with real keys, and secondary that the surface will be prone for scratches, as we can not have both hard and bendable with currently known materials. So I see it as the optimal device for those that do some typing and still also want a large screen for other stuff. But not ideal for those that do a lot of

Hey Guys I recently bought Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. It has also a flex mode where it can transform as laptop factor very similar to Pro1. So i have been comparing them and thought to share it with you guys for your comments. Basically the z fold 3 has a very good build quality. it has outer display as a smartphone, but then it can be opened to become tablet mode which is very big display. and it can also sit in an angle to become laptop mode or as its called flex mode. the software side is not the polished yet as most of the apps dont get keyboard or custom control pad

I dunno about the X but the OG Pro1 still holds up very well imo (but that has the stronger SD835 in it). I have been using it for a good 1.5 year now and it's still quite snappy. I just hate that stock is neglected and forgotten but maybe one day I'll move on to Lineage.

My guess would be something mechanical too. Since related to the pocket. Either a cable, or perhaps a superthin crack-line of a print plate. You could try some (gentle) flexing of the botom and top parts and see if you can trigger it. And perhaps revive when the issue is there.

Now that you're reporting this, I've had a few (very few) situations over the last few weeks which were slightly similar, but not as severe. Screen going black while in use, needing a press of the power button to come on again, or screen becoming touch-insensitive until switched off and on again with the power button, and there might have been one occasion or so in which such a situation needed a reboot, too. I'm on LineageOS 18.1, and for me this somehow rather felt more like software rather than hardware, but that's just an impression.

Recording using Skvalex works, you can hear both sides, but quality of the other side is sometimes bad and hard to understand. I wonder if any of the many settings can fix it...

MY Pro1 screen was replaced in Jan 2021 by FxTec and has worked perfectly until about 2 days ago, This is so weird that I have to give a very thorough description, Suddenly out of the blue either the screen will stop responding to any touch—however, keys still work and you can, for instance, select apps with arrow keys—or the screen goes totally black. When the screen goes black, it as if the Pro1 is off (powered off) except the keyboard is backlit When it first occurred a power-button reset would fix it. Well, it has now become a more or less permanent situation (not touch screen, not black out) Many reboots will sometimes get it back, but it seems to spontaneously go back to no touch in little time. I'll check the screen cable, but if that does nothing, I'll see what FxTec can do for me. If that doesn't work, I'll give my local shop a challenge. 😄
