  3. There is a long thread about this issue causing "Ghost touches". Basically the root cause of the problem is the same (and also phone which have "Ghost touches" are having this blind line)... there are two ribbon cables coming from display at the bottom side (in portrait orientation). A very wide cable contains display signals and a narrow cable contains touch signals. There is a dedicated touch processor at the back of display but most likely the ribbon cable broke somewhere (either the cable or the glass to cable connection). I never heard removing and reinserting display cable wo

  4. Germany here, also problems accessing the mobile networks in (some) supermarkets. When some years ago I found my erstwhile phone to behave suspiciously after having used the wifi of the hotel where I had been staying, I became extremely careful with public and semi-public wifis, too, though, and I wouldn't even call it paranoid. 😉 But I guess that's what VPNs are for... Until now I didn't bother to create a VPN endpoint in my home LAN for that purpose (it's still on my wishlist because it obviously would also allow access from everywhere to all of my home LAN resources without furth

  5. They have stopped pushing updates for Pro1 a very long time ago. ...or is it about update system which also stops working? Anyway, LineageOS still provides an up-to-date Android environment, however, there are still bugs in kernel which could only be improved through manufacturer as having closed-source components and what is very sad to be left alone...

  7. Would GOTA (Google Over The Air) imply the device will be getting over the air system updates as long as Google themselves make them? That would be a major improvement for those choosing stock Android.

  8. We have that here too. Funnily also in a Supermarket called coop. They also offer you handscaners though. But here the problem is, that you need an account and give them access to all your sales data to use it. So I use the self scanning register instead of that.

  10. It needs re-gluing and I would suggest to do it as soon as possible. Although at the other (bottom) side, there are ribbon cables and if it breaks, it can develop screen or touch-related problems. If you are not confident enough to do it yourself, there should be a repair shop around who may do it for you. For gluing, there are somewhat flexible glues like T-8000.

  11. My Guess would be that they are generally just deep flat concrete building, so the signal has a hard time reaching. So most likely they offer the WiFi as a service to compensate this, especially if they are one of those allowing you to scan the items with your phone as you put them in the basket. (That offer is quite common in Denmark. e.g. Coop) , I have given up using this due to net-issues doing so....

  12. Hmmm... So that seems to be a more general problem then we for whom it happened after self-replacing the screen thought? No idea for how to fix it except re-glueing it... which seems to come with a definitive chance of it becoming loose again, though, and comes with other dangers, too, since it would involve disassembly first...

  13. Trust is maybe an overstatement... but you have to asses the risks. If someone has access to a manipulated carrier network, there are probably more valuable targets than me. But since I do the same (never connecting to public wifi). Do you have the same problem as me, that it seems that some places with public wifi (supermarkets especially) seem to be constructed to block mobile network? I know this sounds like a conspiracy, but I swear, here in Switzerland you seem to have no Internet at all in big supermarkets!

  14. Well I was talking WiFi... So only internet through the mobile carrier (when not at home, or a few trusted WiFi locations). But yes I will need to to trust my mobile carriers net.

  15. No offense, but that does not seem very practical to me. The only network you can trust on that level is one you configured yourself. For most users, that would mean to connect their Pro1 to the Internet only at home. At that point it is not really a mobile device anymore ... We do agree that banking is best done at home anyway. I use only my PCs and separate hardware tokens for that. In fact, by relying on security of a single system (the phone), most banking apps undermine the very principle of two-factor authentication which lies in using two independent devices that are air-gapped fro

  16. Also for me... anyway, Magisk has started to notify an update is available few months ago which lead for disabled notification for Magisk on my phone as I did not want to update to the "dumb" version. (Also, one of my friends did it and Safetynet has stopped working.) However, I am curious of the new solution but I will stick to LineageOS 18.1 till I don't see it is working...

  17. Wow, seems I haven't been up to date with regard to Magisk... Looks like not only MagiskHide, but also everything related to SafetyNet is removed from current Magisk releases. (See John Wu's statement in https://topjohnwu.medium.com/state-of-magisk-2021-fe29fdaee458) now that he's working for Google, and also this XDA Developers thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/discussion-magisk-the-age-of-zygisk.4393877/.) That said, MagiskHide seems to be in the state of being replaced by the Zygisk (Magisk running in the new Zygote mode) "deny list"... And the tools to ensure Safety

  18. Basically I can use banking apps which need to pass SafetyNet test using Magisk... However, there were changes around Magisk and I don't know what the current solution is instead of MagiskHide which also needed for these apps to work. As far as I know, current version of Magisk has that removed but old version still works on LineageOS 18.1 (Android 11), however, I doubt it will work on any later major Android version(s).

  19. (lineage-18.1-20220411-nightly-pro1-signed.zip on March 5 security patch installed smoothly using OTA ) ...But the reintroduced (early August 2021) Accessibility / keyboard bug is not (yet?) fixed. The stage after download and install called "Finalising package installation" is surprising slow though)

  20. Yes, that's been clear for quite a while, but good to have a definitive statement. Luckily, Lineage provides the updates for the Pro1.
