I have thought about getting one of those ever since I saw them several months ago. Can you share which brand you are using? Did you try any other brands? And have you tested with an app that shows the charging rate to see if it is slower with the adapter than a regular cable?

I caved and bought another Relay 4G. That way I don't have to mess around with getting stuff up and running on another phone. I can just flash Clockwork Mod, restore my nandroid backup, and be in business immediately, with all my apps. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this one lasts until I can get the Pro1 in my hands and get it all set up for real use. π

I'll probably go with a Pixel, for personal reasons, and dump my apps and data into it and then only switch if I need to. Can't bear the thought of being without a physical keyboard! LOL
-
Yeah, that's true. But they could let us know whether they shipped them fast or slow from China to the various countries.

As I feared, my last Galaxy S Relay 4G (I've gone through half a dozen of them since 2012) is starting to malfunction. It started yesterday. Screen is only turning on when the power key is pressed, not when the phone is slid open. The screen cable is on its last legs. This one only lasted a few months. I thought I was going to get the Pro1 before the last one wore out and now the phone didn't ship before this one started dying. It sure would be nice to get some exact dates on when the phones will ship from the various fulfillment centers. I'm trying to decide if I should limp along

We are talking about whether they are doing it on actual production line samples. That information was earlier in the process, before they had a true production assembly line going.
-
Yeah, I don't want one of the durability tested units. I'm talking about 2 different concepts. 1) Are they doing durability testing on some sample set of actual production line phones? 2) Are they doing minimum quality checks on some sample set or on all phones? It sounds like you are talking about experience with other products. I was hoping someone from the company, or someone who has talked to them, could answer definitively.
-
I hope they do *some* test with every unit. This isn't like a normal product where we can go back to the store and easily swap it for another unit. That is what I was thinking about when I created the post.
-
Ha! His expression. Fun.
-
Does anyone know if they are doing robot testing of real production units off the assembly line? Or was that only done with earlier versions that were assembled with a different process and different people? For that matter, does anyone know what the quality assurance process looks like for the phones? Is each one turned on after assembled? Software tests run on it? Etc.

It seems like there is a limit to editing posts. Maybe you can only edit it one time or maybe there is a time limit in which you are allowed to edit it, or maybe both. Testing editing this now. I was able to edit it multiple times. So there is probably just a time limit. A longer time limit would be nice.

That's not the point. The point is that they said they would be shipping from the fulfillment centers on the 29th and have said they are still on track for that plan, until today, when we got the weird message about how that may only apply to Asian shipments. If this was the first time that ever happened, it would be one thing. But there is a history here of giving dates, saying things are on track, and then right before the due date, moving the date and being rather slippery about it. I'm sure there are politicians out there who would admire some of the spin that has been going on. As

Some people haven't been following this as long, so they might not be aware. The shipping on the 29th was clarified to be shipping from fulfillment centers to end customers. It was not to be shipping from the place they are being manufactured to the fulfillment centers. They were supposed to be shipped to the fulfillment centers a week or so ago. That's why people are upset.

I will add my voice to those who were not at all pleased with this update. If it should be read like Hook did, then it should be re-written. To me, it sounds like more excuses and broken promises. They were supposed to be shipping from the final locations on the 29th. That means shipped to customers. And that means they should have been in those final shipping locations by now. It seems like they are claiming success with Asian customers, but we don't know how may of those there are, or if they will truly be shipping them to anyone. If @rejujacob is a legitimate Asian customer, th

Depends if it is the Pro^1 or the Pro^Pro^Pro^Pro. π

Thanks, you are right. I did find that afterward and forgot to update the post.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caps_Lock#International_Caps_Lock_Day I FIGURED THIS WAS FITTING, GIVEN THAT WE ARE ALL WAITING FOR A PHONE WITH A PHYSICAL CAPS LOCK KEY. :-)

NOTE: Somehow my reply got put as a quote to the wrong source message. I'll try this again. I can see my original message in this editing window, so I don't see how it will get mixed up again. ... Well, throw all that out the window. https://vimeo.com/364339691 βWe will start shipping to you from the 29th of October.β Whether that means shipping from fulfillment centers to customers or factory to fulfillment center isnβt clear. Since he says βto you,β if we take it literally, then it should be from fulfillment centers to customers. -

So if we put together the email plus this added information about courier time and customs, we have, as a theoretical worst case, for early pre-orders: - Leaving the Chinese factory on 10/15 - 3 days transport time to the USA and EU = 10/18 - 3 days in customs = 10/21 - 1 day transport from customs to fulfillment center = 10/22 (added this as a guess) - 3 days packaging at the fulfillment center = 10/25 (added this as a guess) - 3 days transport time from the fulfillment center to the customer if in the same country (USA to USA, EU to EU) = 10/28 in customer's hands If we look at be
