I still use Cyanogenmod, and it didn't remove any google pieces. Is this something they started with the first LineageOS versions or something more recent? And do they provide options for keeping the Google pieces? Which pieces are removed, by the way? Not having the Play Store would be a bit inconvenient, if someone did want it.

That is great that you are testing them. A text link to the case would be perfect. If there is a link to the specific Note 7 case that you tested, I missed it. Thanks again for being the guinea pig! I agree with the double sided tape too. That's how I have my Relay 4G plastic case being held on to the base of my phone. I even did it for the case that fit around the screen. Those types of cases had little legs that snapped around the corners of the base and screen, but they would break off eventually. I finally reached the end of my supply, so I had to use tape.

I don't see how the Nov 6th tweet and the Nov 8th tweet cannot be seen to be going backwards in progress either. This is what we have, where "***" represents the current location of the first batch. Nov 6 (very close to getting a tracking number): Factory-->China export customs-->InTERcontinental Shipper-->Destination Country(ies)-->Import customs-->Warehouse--***-->InTRAcontinental Shipper-->Customer Nov 8 Best Case (still has to go through import customs): Factory-->China export customs-->InTERcontinental Shipper-->Destination Cou

Better the keyboard than the screen. But I feel for you. I really hope the flex cable lasts a looooong time on the Pro1 and that we are able to buy that as a replacement part. I know I'll be buying at least 1 flex cable fairly soon, assuming they aren't super expensive.

Same here. Hoping for TWRP support too (or hoping their default recovery mode has a nandroid backup option).

EskeRahn's pre-production phone clearly holds 1g less electrons. π

Yes, that's my thinking as well. Those of us who want to have keyboard phones for some time into the future will buy more of them if they are less successful and fewer if they are more successful. I'm not sure how we'll know if they are successful though. The main way to know might be if they bring out another revision of the phone, but by the time they do that, the previous revision might be sold out. I guess a person can buy extras and then sell them if a new one is announced, but people will be less likely to buy the old version once a new one is announced. LOL

We can only hope!

And maybe there were adjustments to the assembly process for the first batch and that made it take longer. I'm just happy that I'll get one of the batch 2 phones that doesn't have all the mistakes of the batch 1 phones, where they were learning how to put them together for the first time. π

I may buy the Pro2 (assuming there is one) just as an insurance policy, to have a keyboard phone for a longer period of time. There may not be other similar phones produced by other companies, and I intend to keep using keyboard phones as long as I can. Buying a Pro2 while the Pro1 is still fully functional will allow me to go back to the Pro1 if/when the Pro2 fails. Unlike other phones that are more mass produced, I don't think there will be many Pro1s to be found new, or even used, after a handful of years. A lot of people are going to hold onto these phones or quickly buy any that b

They are so slippery with wording. That could very well mean due to arrive at the door of the factory in mid-Nov. In other words, it could be another way to say that the batch will be ready mid-Nov, not meaning that it will arrive in customer hands.
-
Wow. If that is true, then maybe they are starting to under promise and over deliver. Stating that the 2nd batch is leaving China mid-November (stated previously) could be the under promise part. This would also make sense, as they said at an earlier point in time that they would be sending batches out within days of reach other and then it was more recently changed to weeks. Saying it is weeks and then having people get them sooner would be a good move on their part. If this does end up being true, it would also make a huge difference for the company regarding Christmas sales. My co

Agreed. I even wait for my PC/laptop, and I have a keyboard phone. But my threshold is higher than what it would be if I was using a virtual keyboard. As you said, I'd probably be limited to a few words. Or I'd use a bluetooth keyboard. As it is, I will rarely type out a long email if it is inconvenient to get to the PC/laptop, but generally, it is multi-sentence texts/IMs that I'm sending. For email, I try to wait for the full sized keyboard. I have the frustration of the Kitkat 4.4 (Cyanogenmod), plus modern apps that use too much RAM, plus slow virtual memory swapping, pegging my

Me either! It drives me *crazy* typing on a virtual keyboard. And if the typing isn't bad enough, the wrong predictive words being automatically guessed and either sent (if not found) or having to be corrected, is very aggravating.
-
Yep, I thought that was pretty special. π I have read some reports of some people typing faster on some virtual keyboards than the old records of the physical keyboards. However, those people probably don't have access to physical keyboards (they might be faster on them if they did have access) and I don't know if predictive typing is allowed, etc. It seems like they use the same sentences for the test too, which isn't a true typing test. Fxtec should give a few phones to the fast virt typers, with the condition that they can keep them if they break the record. π

Wouldn't that make a great ad campaign for the Pro1? All these people picking up a giant slab, with lightening shooting out of it, and throwing it down the air duct? Or, another alternative.... All these people, unconscious, laying on big slab phones, until "The Chosen One" (Neo/Pro1) brings them back into reality. Or, if they didn't think people would get the references, even just showing dozens of people tossing their slabs in the trash would work. π

In full disclosure, I was *this* close to buying a new, non-physical keyboard phone and using a bluetooth thumb keyboard with it (or my Relay 4G as a keyboard and screen for it when I needed to type). Then the news came out about the Pro1, so I kept going down the Relay 4G path for another better part of a painful year. I guess what I am saying is that I can understand what caused many of you to commit your sins and I forgive you. πππ

I would have been hurting a lot more than I am if I didn't have the Link2SD app on my Galaxy S Relay 4G. The internal storage in my phone runs *slower* than the SD card does, so my apps run *faster* with them moved to that card through this app. And the app moves everything over, unlike some other methods.

So you are saying that you'll redeem yourself by throwing the emperor down the air duct? *grins*
-
Agreed. That's quite a mystery.

Those are the main stops, but there are other stops along the way. There is a export customs in China and there is an import customs in each destination country. That can delay the phones by 1 to N days the source country and destination country. The theory is that the customs delay could decrease with future batches vs early batches.

Looking at all those people who gave in the to the dark side in that first group. If you aren't part of the solution..... Tsk Tsk. π

As sad as it is, there are even 3 more hops in there, in reality, and that batch hasn't left yet. But to be fair, the ship is an airship, thankfully. π A modified version: At some point, a batch of phones will be shipped from the source of all these shipments, to the shipping interceptor, that ensures they are in ship shape, and then shipped to the airship, which will ship them to other shipping interceptors, that ensure they are in ship shape, and then shipped to those who will shape them to ship and ship them to the shippers, who will ship them to the shipping destinations...at some

Got it. Thanks for pointing that out. I searched the forums and I see where Erik called them Fulfillment Warehouses, and when I commented on his post, I changed that to "Fulfillment Centers", to be more clear, because I felt that "warehouses" might be confused as "factory" to some people. If *I* was naming things, I would call them: A) Factory B) Fulfillment Centers (or any number of other terms, like Regional Hub, Regional Processing Centers, etc.) C) Shippers This could be an American vs UK English language thing, but I believe the above would be least confusing to
